Yikes ...50 ?! Uhmmm...your putting a lot of stock in assumptions. I was thinking a lot closer to 30.
25, 27 and 20 times other teams have run against the Patriots. All wins.

Jacksonville had 20 carries for 57 yards.

That looks pretty good to me.

(Also, they're not last against the rush, they're 23rd.)

We are last in YPC at 4.9. If were behind and a team runs 50 times with a 4.9 YPC...it won't be pretty. Thats all my point was. Sorry If I am off base.

I don't know that you're off-base. But considering they gave up, what, 2.8/carry in their last game, and the fact that the running game isn't nearly as important anymore as it used to be - the calling out of people for "not having more threads" about it did strike me as a little odd.

I'm sorry if I called out people. I'm just concerned for being last. Nevermind.

You know, I really like that post! He knows perfectly well that his team is outmatched this week, but says "to hell with the gloom and doom attitude around here, let's get psyched for a Cowboys game!" Good fan.

Do you like this part too?

Garrett is not going to be out-couched by the former Browns coach who quit on his team and went to foxborough.

lol, Belichick was basically the only person in that whole debacle that didn't quit. The owner quit on the city, the fans quit on the franchise, the team quit on the coach and owner, and the owner ultimately quit on (fired) the coach.

Belichick just did his job as best as he could until the day he was fired.

I guarantee you they won't be last by the time the season's over. Bookmark this thread.

Exactly! I got no problem with the Browns fan who pissed on Modell's grave. He essentially pissed on all of the Browns fans.

Yes, the Pats surrendered 4.9 YPC running light formations that dared teams to run in an effort to make them chew up clock.

If the Pats are behind, their strategy will change. That means less nickel, no more 260 pound Geneo Grissom at DT, and a lot more Branch/Siliga/Hicks on the line. That'll mean having 3 LBs on the field regularly enough to make Mayo more than a bit player in this defense. And this is all assuming that Malcom Brown doesn't evolve into a better player this season, which he probably will but I'm not banking on because we don't really have to. These are all steps that the Pats can take and will take the moment it becomes imperative to stop the run. We've seen it happen before, and we'll see it happen again. Strategy changes dramatically based on score and time remaining.

It's standard situational football, Belichick lives for this stuff. If a team that we're conceding the run to runs for a bunch of yards, I don't really care. If a team runs for a bunch of yards when we've made stopping the run a priority, then I'll be worried.

The Pats' run defense not only isn't worst-in-the-league, it isn't even bad. The YPC number will go down once the Pats regularly find themselves in situation where they aren't up by 3 TDs and running out the clock.

Yes agreed. Jacksonville and the Bills we dared them to throw and still we end up with 4.9 YPC. I think the Hicks signing will help fix this IMO. Bill saw the need and made changes to help fix this. In BB we trust. I'm really looking forward to the Cowboys.

Eh, you may be right. My sense of humour meter may be off.

I can't blame you, given how often Pats fans have found themselves saying "are they &@$# JOKING???" about the NFL lately.

We're gonna pace these pathetic palukas with a powerful paralyzing perfect packadermis percussion plan. lol

We didn't dare them to throw, though. Not at all, totally the opposite in fact. In both of those games, we were up by 3+ TDs. When you're up that much on a team, you play the pass and invite them to run, because when they're running the clock's running too. The pass is what you defend against, because that's their best path to victory.

I see...you believe Bill was shaking in his boots because Tyrod Taylor was at QB? I'm not sure I'm with you on that one. Let's just be glad BB is our coach and he is here for many more years.

I think you're misreading what people are saying. It's not that he's afraid of Tyrod Taylor. It's just that, once up by 3+ scores, Tyrod Taylor is the only way they were going to get back in the game. The run game in that situation isn't the defense's priority.

I think that's a good point. Our successful game plan early on dictates what other teams are forced to do later on.
