Peter King is a hypocrite (or worse, a liar) and someone in the media ought to expose him....

King visited Michael McCan's classroom last evening, to share his views on Deflate Gate. Not only did he claim that deflated balls offered no competitive advantage, but he was quoted as suggesting that this simple infraction (even if true) would be no grounds to suspend any player.

But this is what he wrote after the Wells report came out.......

Let's not complain (too much) when someone gets more information and comes out in support of our team. if anything, I would highlight the positives that someone took the time to search for the truth. Having found it, realized what was going on.

Lots of things I could criticize Peter King for... but changing his mind over the course of a four month period isn't one of them.

In fact, allowing your mind to be changed by the accumulation of evidence seems like a good thing. Far better than "staying the course" once you realize you're heading in the wrong direction.

Nonsense. 5 months ago, he was calling for Brady to be suspended for 2 games.... now, it's only a parking ticket violation?

I'm not suggesting anything personal about King, but I think he moves where ever the wind blows, and to me, that isn't ethical for a prominent journalist to do, especially if you're gonna advise the Commissioner to "follow the truth; and the proof"

Exactly, PK didn't change with more evidence, he changed when it became cool.

Who cares what he has to say? Why do you search this out? This messageboard is like a sewing circle. I wouldn't know about 99% of it if I didn't come here.
I said agree, but what's a sewing circle (I'm petty sure i can figure it out, but seems like an old reference and I'm not young) :).

It could be, I have no window into his mind. But given how many people take info that contradicts their established opinions as a threat and respond by doubling down on wrongness, I'm ok with a guy moving to the side of truth.

If it's not that big of a deal, then why doesn't he acknowledge his mistake? Why doesn't he apologize for buying into a false, manufactured narrative and publicly endorsing the Wells Report?

You'd have to ask King. I suspect it has to do with "money" and orders from his bosses?

Women used to get together and sew clothes or knit blankets and whatnot and gossip. Those gatherings were called a "sewing circle".

Fair enough -- if this thread called him a "wimp" or a "weasel" for trying to slide quietly onto the right side of history without calling attention to his previous wrongness, I couldn't argue.

Even so, though, I'd rather make it easier for people to start telling the truth rather than shaming them for it. Come aboard the truth train, haters! :)

It's nice that King was able to change his mind. That's a lot more than people like Mortensen have been able to do.

It's unbelievable, though, that King has no interest in asking "Why did the league feed me this false information?" It went on for too long for it to be a simple miscommunication, especially since we know the league refused the Patriots request to release the correct PSI numbers.

We specualte that media people like King don't want to risk their access by being too negative (or, in this case, looking for the truth), but this has the potential to be such a huge story, it's hard to believe that someone hasn't decided to run with it.

I was listening to him yesterday on WEEI and I've come to the conclusion he doesn't really like football. He just likes being an insider around all these people. His columns come across as feckless. He's the middle school-aged girl of the NFL.

Am I really that old? When did that happen? Maybe I should just 23 skidoo my way out of here and let you young folk discuss Twittering and Myface and whatnot.

Get off my lawn!!!!

Evidently, some here prefer the Mortensen model.

Edit: Oops, looks like Oldrover beat me to it.
