That's because FRED always tries to find something to knock the Patriots on and turn out into a thread.

Ad hominem attacks on me do nothing to dim the luster of my brilliant posts. I am almost always right on my player evaluations.

Anyway, I am sure I am not nearly as harsh as BB and the coaching staff; they are always nitpicking. If MB was so great in the first game, why was he pulled? Like I said, he is a big strong monster; he is not showing anything now, but in time he will be a force.

All you Pollyannas just want to hear sweet and rosy things about your team, but I reserve the right make critiques where needed.

I can just imagine what you crybabies have to say about my criticism of Jordan Richard....

You are completely full of sh.t fred.

Seriously, you are.

Tanguay, still looking for work?

Ooh, I got this one. You can't spell his name, for starters.

I like Jordan Richards, but now I'm sad because Quint disagrees! So much sad, not enough emojis!

Seymour did not start slow. He was a terror even in the pre-season....it was just that the media did not notice him until later. Vince did start slow; good size and bulk but out of position and walled off on many plays. Same for Brown, but I am pretty sure he will come around.

Seymour was also like the 6th overall player taken in the draft, not the 32nd

I think that Seymour only had 2 sacks his last season in college and so all the "experts" in media said he would be a good run stopper and it made no sense for the Patriots to take him since they already had a good defensive line. Those same writers never bothered to watch him play in the preseason, but I did; he was almost unblockable and penetrated on every play.

Ty Warren may have played about five snaps his rookie season.

Really, so Warren played one snap and was taken out in the FOUR games that he started. It is difficult to get 19 tackles, 14 assists and a sack with only five reps.

With that production (19 tackles, 14 assists, and one sack) in only five snaps I'm surprised he wasn't put in a little more often.

People are really talking about of their butts about Seymour and Warren sucking their rookie years....good god.

And Keith Traylor was 35, not 70! Gawsh, get it right!

Its crazy. While Warren was not the primary starter (Bobby H, Sey and Mt Washington were) both Warren, Green and even Danny Klecko started games when Sey and Ted couldn't go.

BB giving Malcom a pat on the 'ole back..

"I thought he played probably his best game against Dallas," head coach Bill Belichick said.

"I think there is a lot more than that, but we’re headed in the right direction if he keeps working hard and applying himself on the practice field and in film study. He can continue to improve."
...
Said Belichick: "Malcom works hard and he’s a smart guy. He understands what we want him to do. It’s just a big learning curve like it is for every rookie coming into the National Football League, playing against players that are more comparable athletically than what there was in college and seeing the different schemes and dealing with experienced players that when you’re an inexperienced player, that’s an adjustment. But he’s done well with that and I think the last couple weeks have been good. Hopefully he can continue to move in that direction."

Malcom played an active role in the Dallas game. He played NT in the 3-4, DT in the 4-3 and in the weird dime pass rushing front with Ninkovich, Sheard and Jones as down linemen, he was the only big body on the inside. I think he's been coming along pretty well.

Really, it's Easley that I'm worried about.

Anyone who's piling on Brown right now needs to go back about 10 years and find some perspective. Neither Seymour nor Wilfork started immediately as rookies. Both spent most of their rookie seasons flashing some potential in a rotational role, then eventually moved into starting roles late in the season. Not sure why it shocks anyone that Brown appears to be on a similar trajectory.

Brown is a good prospect. We were incredibly lucky that he fell to 32. But he's a work in progress, and that's fine. It was unreasonable to expect that he wouldn't be. And he's not Richard Seymour, so that comparison needs to die right now. Seymour was a much different (and better) player. If certain posters expected him to be Seymour, then that's on them.

Easy E would have been better off on the edge in the 4-3 vs that Wall

During this 6 week stretch of injury survival, Malcom Brown has been a big bright spot.

@PhilAPerry
Difference between having Malcom Brown out there and not was noticeable. He has quickly become one of their best run defenders.

He went from a liability playing minimum snaps early in the season to a strength on the field playing more than 50% of the snaps.

He's only 21 years old too. BB drafted another stud.

Great. Another potential Pro Bowler that this team will have to pay.
