Of course Clete Blakeman is the ref for Pats at Cowboys

The game won't even be close. Not worried.

That end to the Panthers game was infuriating. Now it's one thing if the dude is holding Gronk and the flag was never thrown. I'd consider it a ridiculous non call but typical of NFL refs. But to throw the flag then pick it up when the holding was blatant was just ridiculous. I forget what the Broncos record was that year but that one play probably cost us HFA and a much better shot at making the Super Bowl.

Otherwise I'm not concerned.

Knowing Tom's personality and ruthless pragmatism, they are probably fishing buddies by now.

Fixed that for you.

Of course, I acknowledge the Pats were robbed in that game of all you said, including a good shot at making the Super Bowl. But in retrospect, our 2013 team was nearly as bad as 2009 and had no business being in the Super Bowl despite the weakness of the AFC. I kind of consider it a lucky break now that the last 2 years have turned out the way they did.

That, and the call against the Jets that's never been called again since.

Agreed. Seattle in 2013 would have choke slammed the Patriots. The Broncos had no excuse, though. Except that Manning was their QB, which is actually a very good excuse.

Coincidentally, Clete Blakeman was ref last time Patriots lost in week after bye (24-20 to Panthers, 11/18/13). NE 11-4 after bye under BB.

Wasnt he the other ref with walt anderson who measured the PSI's after the AFCCG? Would anyone be surprised if anderson is the ref next week?

There are 16 games a season, and hopefully 19 in the end. We're going to get every single ref crew out there because thats how the system works. Stop making a big deal about it.

Not really true. Ref crews can work up to 2 regular season game for a specific team. Not every team will see each crew. Raiders haven't had Walt Coleman since the Pats/Raiders playoff game in 2001. I would be surprised if Walt Anderson does a Patriots game this year(unless he is top rated ref and gets Super Bowl and Pats are in the Super Bowl.)

Pats had 11 refs for the 16 regular season games last year. With Anderson,Tony Corrente,Morelli,Leavy,Allen doing 2 regular season games each.

And in playoffs Vinovich did Division round and Super Bowl. And Anderson did AFC title.

So 19 games and Pats only had 11 refs work their games.

Based on their superbowl performace, I'd say that Broncos team had absolutely no business being in that game.

Imagine if a ref threw a flag against the Patriots and then just picked it up because the Pats `won the game.` It would remain at the forefront of American sports conversations for decades, like the tuck rule.

I really hate that I know the head referees and their crews as well as I do. They should just be faces on the television in a perfect world. Makes me feel like I'm watching the NBA sometimes.

They all suck so what's the difference? It's awfully hard to discern blown calls (common) with deliberate bad calls. I would chalk up most everything as blown calls. The refs are pretty good but definitely not infallible. Why is it we expect perfection out of everyone else but ourselves?

Yeah, the Seahawks were winning by 17+ no matter who it was. But I'm glad it wasn't my GOAT candidate QB who made himself look bad during it.

Well, this thread has earned its place. This has been the most unfairly officiated game I can recall.
