Andrews or Stork

It'll be a rotation like every other OL position this year.

Stork. Andrews to the bench. I think Stork's arrival to the OL was the turning point of a championship year.

Andrews isn't a 10 yr vet being "disrespected" by needing to go to the bench.

Glad to be getting Stork back in a few weeks. I think they start in a rotation like we have been doing all along on the O-line but I think Stork eventually takes the job back. He made such a difference last year!!!
I don't think we can ever have enough good lineman. What a difference a year makes. lol

“Well, I’m not surprised because it’s something he’s dreamed about all of his life,’’ said Reeves, who arrived in Dallas as an undrafted free agent in 1965 and amassed more than 3,600 total yards over an eight-year career at running back. “When he got that opportunity, he immediately moved [to New England] and wanted to be there every day and wanted to do everything he could to prepare. He’s worked extremely hard. That’s the way he’s gotten to where he was at Georgia and that’s the way he’s gotten to where he is in New England. He’s a very dedicated young man.’’

“I watched the quarterback at Georgia from the sideline and the end zone and I’d watch David. And in the three years I watched him there he never made a bad snap,’’ said Reeves. “That’s incredible — when you figure you go from under the center to shotgun. And they do the same thing in New England. He’s very comfortable in that system. He’s been doing it a long time.’’

Reminder: On May 8th the New England Patriots signed David Andrews to a three-year contract. His salaries will be $435,000 (2015); $525,000 (2016), and $615,000 (2017).

I expect it to be somewhat rotational during the regular season.

How was this guy undrafted?

Ooh, I hope not. A center rotation seems like an invitation to mess up your QB's rhythm.
Rotating centers during the game seems like a strange idea. Of course, in garbage time, when Garappolo comes in, there would be a change in center. :)

would be idiotic to cut andrews...we have him for 3 years dirt cheap.
hate to say it, but stork is probably going to suffer another concussion. and i dont like wendy as the C...
andrews it is!

Please provide evidence that Stork can play guard at a level better then the rooks (and Kilne) that have been playing well through the pre-season and through three games.

As best as I could tell from Google, I don't think Andrews has played anything other than Center since high school, and Stork started a good number of games at guard at Florida State as a redshirt freshman and was the season starter at guard as a redshirt sophomore. So: Stork clearly has more experience in college at guard than Andrews. Of course, as you say, that does not mean he could play better at guard than the rooks or Kline at the NFL level.

Andrews has played C for a long time; most of his life, to date. Did you know that he's related to former coach, Dan Reeves? (Dan's brother-in-law was David's Grandfather.) "He may have seemed like a long shot to have an impact on the reigning Super Bowl champions when he arrived in New England as an undrafted free agent in May. But Reeves saw it coming."

Yeah, we just ended week four, and one would think that even if Stork returns at the earliest point, he may take a week or so to practice and knock the rust off.

To me, that suggests that Andrews could easily play another 5-6 games before Stork's even ready to see action.

As good of a topic as it is, I don't see the big debate.

Belichick and Guge will utilize their players to the best of their ability. That could mean using Stork or Andrews at guard, it could mean slowly bringing Stork back to where he takes over in December or so, and it may mean that they split some reps. It could mean that Andrews sits, or even some combination of all of the above.

Any kind of trade talk is silly. We've already made the trade for a guy who wasn't likely to see much action, and have room for both Wendell and eventually Stork. That's still only 10 OL. That's what many of us had on the 53 in the first place.

Good points. This has me asking: What do you all think about players coming back after a period of time? And this is a complicated question, in my opinion. Some athletes respond quickly to the recovery process; others do not. There's the body, history, age, etc...

Stork is young, but he's been hit with a lot (of similar) injuries already. It's concerning, even when he comes back. How long can/will he stay on the field?

What might the Pats play have been like, if David Andrews was not filling that role? And I'll remind of a quote from former coach Dan Reeves about the position of Center; being almost important as QB:
“[Centers are] like the quarterback for the five offensive linemen,’’ said Reeves. “They make all the calls. He and the quarterback have to be on the same page. I know they do a lot of communication at the line of scrimmage in New England.’’ (FYI: this was taken from the same article I posted in this thread; few posts up.)
