Stallworth: Brady paid practice players that picked him off

Is that legal?

Probably.

If this happened it is Brady paying them out of his own pocket, so that money is already accounted for.

Plus none of the practice squad players pay counts against the cap.

The Miami Dolphins tell their practice squad player to not practice hard in fear of hurting the ego of their below average QB who insults those PS players. Meanwhile, Brady pays the PS players to intercept him because he wants the competition.

The Tannehill situation is getting a bit blown out of proportion. I live in south Florida and I heard a radio account by the Dolphins beat reporter about what happened.

This was a practice on Saturday, the day before the game, a no-pads WALKTHROUGH. So, the offense is walking through the plays, everyone is at 50% speed because the purpose is really just to go over the basic aspects of the game plan, and Tannehill is dropping back (at a walking pace) and lobbing the ball toward the target. Meanwhile the practice squad defender is "jumping the route" on the lobbed-in pass, talking trash like it was an episode of SNL "office linebacker"

Tannehill was wrong to poke fun at their salaries but not wrong to be annoyed at some jackasses who were not listening to the coaches and were wasting everyone's time.

Sure, you can say that walkthroughs at 50% speed are a worthless idea and that a little competition is good for everybody, but everyone was told what to do, and it was the smartass PS guys who were not following directions, not the Dolphins O.

This is in no way a defense of the Dolphins coaching (which is abysmal), game-day effort (which is worse), or team IQ (which is low). It's just pointing out that the situation was (apparently) a LOT different than most have assumed.

Well, the net salary cap dollars are constant. So, technically, it should not be an issue.
Bradys's comp - (amount paid for practice squad interceptions) +
Practice squad comp + (amount paid for practice squad interceptions) =
Brady's comp + practice squad comp.
It's not the Ideal Gas Law - it's called "arithmetic."

Is that legal?

It depends on if the Jets do it. Or rather I should say if the Jets have been caught doing it. Or rather I should say if the Jets did it, were caught doing it, and then somebody cared.

Oddly, all this does is infuriate the anti-Brady continuum...UNLESS, he is traded to their team.

I just hope Goodell doesn't ask Kraft for more draft picks for the good of the League.

This is just astonishing to me that Detroit's Head Coach, or any of their coaches, didn't know the rule. How could they even let the play end without even putting up a fight.
Caldwell is the Grady Little of the NFL.

Brady does have a history of paying for pickoffs, remember when they had people firing at reporters at the Brazilian wedding? Evidence is pretty damning from the tweet and hear say.

Carroll's already said that he didn't know the rule.

“I would have done the exact same thing. I would have done the exact same thing,” Carroll said on 710 ESPN. “I didn’t know that rule either. I’ve never even seen it come up and I’ve been coaching for — I don’t even know how many years it is and how many games it could possibly be — I don’t know how anybody would have know that one. If they did, they did.”

Carroll probably should have known about the rule since the Seahawks were guilty of breaking another section of it in a 2013 game against the 49ers. In addition to barring players from batting the ball out of the end zone, the rule also makes it a penalty to bat a loose ball toward the opposing end zone as Seahawks safety Chris Maragos did with a blocked punt in that game.

Did the practice squad players who were paid by Brady declare the money on their taxes? If not, goodell will decide that the entire Patriots organization was involved in a tax fraud scheme. Brady will be suspended for 30 games for being the mastermind, Belichick well get a lifetime suspension for being generally aware what was happening, and the Patriots will lose their first round draft picks until 2032 for messing with the integrity of the game

Some race car drivers would give their mechanics a bonus if they win a race off of their own salary.

Just another example of why Brady is the GOAT.

Another article on SI.com came out today about how Brady is grossly underpaid. Even the writer admits he thought the contract was disingenuous when it was signed because there was no way Brady would play out that contract. Yet, here we are a couple of years later and Brady is playing out that contract making way below his market rate.

Uhm, I'm sure you have heard the same rumors I have that it was actually Ernie Adams who introduced Tom to Giselle right? The same Giselle who happens to be the Supermodel who makes millions of dollars a week ensuring that the Brady household would never be concerned about trivial things like "salary".

Was this was to circumvent the cap? I have no proof of this of course but any genius can add 2 and 2 together... Earnieadamsintroducedtombradytogisellebundchenbecausesheisasupermodelwhomakesmillionsofdollarstocircumventsalarycapgate# It's on that yourteamcheats website.

Go ahead gang, laugh now about this. Watch and see what happens.

Seriously, I cringed when I read the original headline from Colvin and immediately thought of how the NFL was going to use this. I know Colvin was just trying to talk about how awesome Brady is, but it does raise some legitimate questions, and the NFL would love the chance to nail Brady and Kraft.

Remember, Al Capone was public enemy #1, was responsible for killing hundreds of people, yet they finally got him behind bars due to...tax evasion.

When you combine trivial and stupid and lawyers, that's right up the IRS's alley. Add in Brady and the Patriots and that's an NFL orgasm.

Ted Wells has already started boat shopping.

Actually BB is public enemy #1 in the NFL and everyone else is "collateral damage".... it is "more probable than not" that #12 committed no infraction, but Stallworth did gain more twitter followers.

Does Dante's Probation Officer know that he is using the computer???
