Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin fired after loss to Jets

Not surprised here, I called it during jets/phins game yesterday. Should have let him know yesterday then he could have stayed and see if there was an opening for a rugby team.

Soup's on!!!!

Maybe the Phizzz can bring in Joe Rose to teach the Phrauds the proper way to "WHOOOOOP!!!!!!!"....

????

I think you left out the word "managers".

Their endowment grew last fiscal year (but not as much as other).

Was a joke

Spoosedly, Tannehill has been throwing fits whenever the practice D makes a play on him and making cracks like 'Enjoy your practice squad salary!'

I saw Clown Carter discussing this on M&M this morning. He then threw in that this was just a continuation of bully gate ....blah blah. 'Philbin is not a coach of men' blah blah

It could turn out that Tannehill was kidding around with the PS player. Who really knows?

I know this. You can't cut valuable players from your roster to make room for 1 guy and a 100 million contract. I don't think Philbin had anything to do with that contract.

Is Philbin a good coach? I don't know but I thought that Miami looked like a decent team last year and that Tannehill was progressing.

Philbin grew up in my town. I wonder if he'll be coming back home...

He seems like a decent enough guy. I can't imagine ever enduring the loss of a son. He has five other children, but that is a loss that I don't think anyone ever gets over.

He was good as the OC in Green Bay, so I expect him to catch on in a role like that somewhere. I have to imagine with the outright crapulent football we have been seeing the first four weeks that a few coordinators are going to be given their walking papers as well.

I predict seeing walking papers after the Colts game. :D

The more I read about the Dolphins organization the less sure I am we can ever know if Philbin was a decent or ****ty coach.

I wouldn't hire him. I think he's a bright guy and seems like a decent person but he always struck me as though he was asking the players for permission to make decisions. "Hey Chad, we have been looking at the tape and its pretty clear you can't play anymore so we'd like to release you and were wondering if that's OK with you?"

Incognito got the guy above the waist, not at the knees.

It's debatable - see the short video in this story: http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2015/10/4/9450735/buffalo-bills-richie-incognito-nfl-dirty

Either way, it was unnecessary since Demontre Moore was fully engaged and no threat to Tyrod Taylor.

The Bills mirror their coach by being so undisciplined. We knew this as the team was assembled over the summer, bringing pot stirrers like Incognito, Percy Harvin and LeSean McCoy.

I'd pump the brakes on the Jets. They really haven't played anyone yet.

Beating Cleveland at home? Nope.

Beating Indy on the road? Eh.

Losing to a 1-3 eagles team at home? Definitely nope

Beating a pathetic disarray Miami on neutral? Nope

They are a paper 3-1.

Maybe. They'll probably be 4-1 after their next one with the Redskins. The AFC East has an incredibly easy schedule this year. Having to play the NFC East and the AFC South outside the division is a huge gift.

The Patriots are a bump in the road for the Jets before they play the Raiders, Texans, Jaguars, Bills and Dolphins in their next five. I see a Jets team at 10-2 at the 3/4 pole.

Look at this schedule: http://www.google.com/#q=jets+schedule

So we put Miami in the list of sucide HC jobs like DC, Jets, Cleveland and Oakland?

I think so, and for as long as Tanenbaum is GM. And honestly, the Jets have only had three head coaches since 2006 in Mangini, Ryan and Bowles. Mangini and Ryan got second chances immediately after the Jets. Since 2006, the Dolphins have had Saban, Cam Cameron, Sparano, Philbin and now two interim coaches in 2011 (Todd Bowles) and now Dan Campbell. It's been a worse job than the Jets this last decade.

The funny thing about that: ESPN article had Josh McDaniels as the first listed of likely candidates, including an acknowledgement that Josh will likely only leave for an ideal situation. Pretty hilarious.

#2 was Mangini.

:)

Interesting subplot regarding the comments Tannehill was reported to have made to the practice squad players:

Jeff Darlington, an NFLN reporter is urging people to be cautious in accepting stories from anonymous sources:

So we're letting a 2nd-hand, blind quote from reporter living in Houston dictate reputation of a person without a character blemish to date?

This sentiment isn't wrong, but it makes you wonder where this line of thinking was in January? Or when ESPN ran their story last month with 90 anonymous sources. Of course, when people respond to this tweet asking where this enlightened view was when Brady was being slandered anonymously, Jeff gets defensive:

Jeff Darlington ‏@JeffDarlington 2h2 hours ago

Best part about whole Tannehill thing is having Patriots fans now attacking me for not defending Brady in January. God bless Patriot fans.

It's everyone else's fault that you're a spineless hypocrite, Jeff.

I think they replace Oakland for the spot, Oaklands nightmarish drought just may finally be over with their young nucleus.
