Speaking of, where is the $44M man this morning? That was a pretty big and egregious blown call. You'd think that he would have said something by now.

He is busy looking for the "real deflator".

I think the best way to protect the integrity of the game is to have part-time officiating personnel so that you can pay the commissioner $44 million.
I've heard this a lot, but I don't know what the officials would do 8 hours a day the other 4 days. Full time doesn't mean more money. These guys already make around $175,000 per year.

They don't need to have another job, it's just that they don't have a lot of work for that pay so they do something else. So making full time officials comes down to banning officials from having another job, and having them sit around all week doing nothing.

How about sitting around all week studying the rule book?

WTF? Seriously?

He doesn't get up until noon, and then there is still breakfast in bed, dressing him, and his pedicure before he gets down to the business of reading the Cartoons. Don't be such a douche Kontra, cut the guy a little slack.

Maybe he is still reeling from the tough interview on Mike and Mike last month.

Credit to Kam for breaking that ball out. The guy has 10/10 big playmaking ability.

People would freak out if the Patriots got a call like that. It'd be tuck rule #2 for a week or two.

A week or two? There are people still crying about the tuck rule 13 years later.

If the Patriots were the beneficiary of that call last night, the torches and pitchforks would have been out and not just figuratively.

Talking about the game, when the Lions have a chance to beat Seahawks in Seattle, you have to think this team is bad. It's disgusting to watch the Lions play, it's not a coincidence they are now the worst team in the league.

I don't think Megatron is overrated, they just don't have plays, short routes, intermediate, it's always Stafford dropping back 5 steps and throwing a bomb. It's bizarre, that offense is ridiculously non-creative, watching the game yesterday I was kind of shocked and I thought with myself that for Brady to memorize all those plays and execute them perfectly in the right spot in the right time it must be rocket science, but it doesn't seem to be. It's just talented players, with top notch coaching and a perfectionist QB that will not throw you the ball if you don't know the playbook inside out. How Jim Caldwell still has a job as a HC is a mystery.

Getting back to Seattle, they still have the talent and the physicality on defense, but it seems they have lost some chemistry and their offense stinks without beast mode carrying the load. It will be interesting to watch that division, the Cardinals are good besides their 1st loss, and don't sleep on the Rams.

According to news reports, multiple opponents have told the Lions players that they knew what plays were coming..They are obviously tipping their hand in some way and very obviously so if I'm Caldwell, I try to fix the ship before we get 0-16...repeated....

So other teams know the Lions play calling- Lets just shout 'cheaters' from the roof tops. Where is the integrity ???? If this involved the Patriots in any way, we would have been burnt at the stake by now !!

How about sitting around all week studying the rule book?

Or watching game films to identify the what teams are doing (things they are getting away with) and see how other officials call certain things?

You're probably right. Pats still have draft picks left that need to be forfeited for one reason or another.

SEA will end up with some kind of home field advantage in the playoffs and we'll have this call partially to blame. If the same happened with the Patriots, Goodell would use his executive authority to put the game elsewhere (Indy).

Ya but I hope people don't think that's some kind of solid from the nfl*. They had no choice but to come out and say it was a blown call because it was such a clear thing. But they're doing so under the guise that the ref blew it and that the penalty can't be enforced because it's not reviewable.

As expected, Blandino tried to lie his way out of it, saying the bat wasn't "overt."

Neither is Blandino's honesty.

For once, just once, let the league say we screwed up and it affected a game...Instead of once in a blue moon admitting it screwed up but the team still won so it doesn't matter...Here you had a blatant ( no other word for it) illegal touch right in front of the ref...I would love to know how they scored that on their internal ref review....
Just another f up from the stuffed shirts at 345 Park Ave....

It was a hue blown call, but let's not pretend that the ball not being batted would have changed the outcome. That ball was going out of bounds and the nearest lion wasn't close. I agree that plays need to be reviewable, but it wasn't a bad break for the lions.

You never explained why you thought it was offensive amidst all that drama.

The only Drama was in your fevered Imagine, my friend.

You're a demonstrably intelligent guy, Old Hoss. Do I really need to explain to you what's disgusting and offensive about some diaper-wearing Urchin repeatedly thrusting his groin in my general direction?

Anyway: Thank you, from the bottom of my Heart.

I don't see any offensive gestures from a baby just having fun dancing. So since I don't see the offense, I needed the explanation so I know. I don't pretend to be perfect and am always open to friendly critic.

I don't really know how to take your comments, with all the italics and emojis. All I can say is I'm being truly sincere when I say that I consider every person's feelings and respect every opinion on this board.

Anyway, I do hope you feel better about it.
