Wasn't there recently a report about how Players and Employees are now allowed to play as long as their winnings were less than $250? Its getting out of hand.

Really? Can you source that?

That would be pretty damning, IMO (not that it would matter).

Some of you guys have lost all connection to rational thought regarding the NFL since deflategate. You sound like the people that think the Patriots are manipulating space-time every time someone fumbles a football.

Those sites have no bearing on games. They could just as well be betting on the next day's weather. It doesn't matter if ten trillion dollars is bet, it doesn't effect the game just like money doesn't effect the weather.

The NFL doesn't care about this because they shouldn't care. It's an issue for the sites. Not only should the NFL not care but I would argue it's not the NFLs job to protect people from their own stupid decisions. Whether I or anyone else wants to bet on how Brady will play Sunday is nobodies business.

So, you somebody couldn't manipulate injury report data? What if you knew the QB of a team was hurt more than questionable and you bet on his replacement?
They could but would be illegal, and anyone who falsified the report would be risking their job.

Public injury reports are better than secret ones. A world where nobody bets or lies isn't possible, so they're stuck with the first two options. Public reports make insider info difficult, not impossible.

This is exactly the kind of information that the "injury report" is supposed to supply. Before the injury report gamblers would have sources (and you are crazy to think that still don't) inside the teams. clubhouses, etc. who would tell them if someone was hurt, his wife left him, got the babysitter pregnant, etc. All factors to take into consideration before betting on a particular team.

The injury report was designed to level the playing field for gamblers. The NFL caters to gambling, because it is the reason the sport is so popular and profitable. I predict, that sometime in the near future, that much like European Soccer, you will be able to place bets on NFL games inside NFL stadiums.

Of course allowing this type of open betting has worked well for soccer to eliminate illegal betting and game throwing (NOT!!!!).

Tangentially related.

Years ago McDonald's had it's Monopoly game, and it turned out that people with connections to the company in charge of ensuring the game was fair were discovered to be winning the big prizes.

If big money is involved expect cheating.

It's an issue for the NFL because NFL is accepting their advertising. Given the amount of advertising I bet it's a huge amount of income for the NFL. If the sites appear to be rigged, don't be surprised if there's a huge backlash.

LOL, a gambling site that exists through a loophole in the law is going to throw the book around?

What are you talking about. These sites don't write injury reports.

The NFL should care when it involves one of their sponsors.

Kraft should drop his investment in any FF sight now. This is a gambling casino with NFL play

They could just as well be financing the mob by betting on a number. Or betting on horse races, that's always on the level. Gambling entities do not belong in football period. Integrity indeed. Kraft should dive away from this.

They don't have sources that give false information so people can bet on fantasy sports?

He should but there's gobs of money to be made so he won't, making gobs of money trumps everything else. Same for the League of Integrity.

1. There's some kind of scandal going on. I'll leave a more coherent explanation to those who actually have used the services/sites.

2. Along the way, it's being mentioned that these companies have lots of relevant investors -- leagues, team owners and so on. In particular, I didn't know that Robert Kraft and Jerry Jones have stakes in DraftKings.
The relentless advertising of these gambling sites during NFL games and on NFL sites led my husband to remark last weekend that the league must own them. Not far from the truth, I see. Bookies all over the country must be miffed they are being run out of business by the league itself.

I see this as very similar to gambling which, for some reason, the NFL staunchly opposes. In fact it seems to me like there is even more money at stake here.

If they believe that legalized gambling potentially impacts the integrity of the games, then this stuff does so just as much.

Seems like a great way to make $billions by separating teenagers from the money they make working at McDonalds. Not surprised the sports franchises are all over it, including Bob ("Mr.") Kraft and Jerrah.
