Just curious as to what everyone thinks how the o-line is doing so far. I think david andrews has done a yeomen's job at center and it would be intersting to see what happens to him once stork gets back. what do you guys think about tre jackson and shaq mason?

Vollmer: Stud, best RT in football
Solder: Much improved/consistent from last year (cancer in his rearview mirror)
Andrews: Been one of the best rookies in the NFL through a quarter of a season. What a find.
------------------------------------
Guard play: Good enough. Rookies have held their own. Worth noting that Kline has been coached up to a starting caliber guard.

I'm also curious what others have seen from Jackson/Mason and who's been better.

Outstanding job as a unit so far, but still "incomplete" in the run game. In addition to Stork, don't forget Wendell returning. Rotation could get really crazy in a couple of weeks.

"Wendell practiced with the second team, playing center with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. The Patriots’ starting offensive line remained Nate Solder, Shaq Mason, David Andrews, Josh Kline and Sebastian Vollmer."

Based on what we saw in pre-season, with three rookies playing, no Stork, No Connolly and no Wendy and improved play from Kline I am thrilled with the line play thus far.

But...

I'm still trying the get acclimated to this rotational situation at guard. From a traditional sense, I just want 5 guys going out there that know each other that function at a high-level as a unit.

I'm hoping BB settles on the guard situation because from a cohesion standpoint, its for the best. With that said, I am being proven wrong- and thats ok.:p

I've been wondering if he's playing a little chess here. Getting the upcoming teams looking at tape where there is a steady rotation of personnel without any implications on play calling. Then, half way into the season, we see a shift where certain guys are playing more when they are ahead and running the ball, and other guys playing when they are passing it. Then, just when those substitutions start to mean something to the opposition, he switches it back to being completely unpredictable, putting the opposing defense off balance.

Probably reading too much into it...

Very strong in depth surprisingly.

The O-line is fantastic so far. Beyond anyones expectations. Depth is just amazing with Wendell back and Stork possibly soon as well.

Some hard choices may need to be made here if were in dire need of help at other positions before the trade deadline. It's a good problem to have I guess....IMO.

Do you guys have any thoughts on the performance of Tre Jackson and Shaq Mason?

That might be a nice byproduct of what's going on.

I think it has more to do with putting Shaq in on plays that are more run-oriented and Kline for more passing ones.

One shining difference between the Oline the last two years is the playcalling.

Brady is getting the ball out quick and stretching the defense laterally with the quick guys, and vertically with Gronk down the seam. That's not to say that the OLine would be playing as bad as the start of last year, but I think it is definitely a change.

Either way, I'm perfectly fine with their job keeping TB12 upright :)

Or maybe not becoming unpredictable, but setting traps. Like he trapped Pete Carroll.

Before the season began, I thought the O-Line was: ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

But now, I think it's more like: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

:D

With the emergence of David Andrews, I wonder if Brian Stork could be used as trade bait. I love Stork and the fact that he was an integral part of our SB win, but Andrews isn't much of a step down.

Seattle needs a center, and Chancellor will likely still be looking for more guaranteed money at some point. Or, we could go after a CB.

I did not think they would play this well, especially not kline and obviously not Andrews.

Doubtful and plus it's not like we are going to pay chancellor which is what he wants. Let's pump the brakes on trading anyone and make sure that Andrews doesn't start getting exposed in a few weeks, also you can never have enough o-line depth

Im very surprised and really pleased about the play of our oline. And yes, the playcalling and TFB are in support.

Have you seen the Jets-Dolphins-game on sunday?
The Jets playing the same blitz 3 times in a row and the lolphins couldn´t answer this! :D

I have concerns about Stork. Correct me, if im wrong, but i count 3 concussions, since he enters the NFL.

And the She-Hawks deserve, that the opposite defenders are playing Flipper with Wilson as ball.
Traded a first pick and their best oliner for this( highpaid) Marshmellow-TE, who can´t block a piece of ****.

If we want to upgrade CB (or any position for that matter) we may have to part with someone the calibre of Stork. Teams need Oline help, and given the loss of draft picks as a result of deflategate, I am not sure how willing Bill will be to give up any more.

no news is good news.......BB had some quote to the tune that Mason has been doing well in the running game and Jackson has been good in pass pro

I'd hate to trade away such great depth. I love the rotations keeping everyone fresh.
