Week 4 NFL kicking stats: 57 of 71 on FGs (80.3 percent) Misses: 29, 30, 30 (GW), 33, 38, 40, 41, 43, 44, 44, 48 (GW), 49, 53, 53 (GW)

15 missed field goals, with 5 misses under 40 yards and 5 more under 45 yards are unacceptable for NFL kickers

For comparison, Gostkawsi has made 15+ field goals in a row. And people thought Belichick was crazy for using a franchise tag on a kicker?

Those who understood how good Ghost was had no problem with his franchise, or current salary. Even without the new extra point distance, he'd easily be worth what he's paid. He's a hardworking professional that's super accurate whose already strong leg appears to be getting stronger. He's the best in the business and it's not even close.

So may bad kicks yesterday. MN would have been tied with Denver if the kicker hadn't missed earlier in the game. Bad teams find a way to lose.

Tony Massarotti begs to differ...he was in super troll mode Friday, going all in with Justin Tucker as the best kicker in the NFL...."He made a game winner in Pittsburgh in over time, Mike! That's tough place to kick! Tucker has ballz, Mike - stones! Gostowki's never made a pressure kick, Mike! Tucker makes them week in, week out!" It was laughable....

Why would you ever respond in a football conversation with a quote from Tony Massarottie?

And it wasn't just the number of kicks, it was the importance. I count 4 different games lost by a missed kick.

Clearly Gostkowski cursed them: "If I can't kick field goals today, no one can!"

"Differences between future Tony Mazz and me... he's balder, fatter, and he thinks he can intelligently discuss football."

Its horrendous. Unbelievable there are this many bad kickers in the league. I think there may be only a handful who have yet to miss a kick this year (and about half who have missed multiple) and its only 4 weeks into the season.

I think this week is an anomaly, not a portent.

The stats for the first three weeks were nearly identical to last year's.

Is it cheating when BB convinces the Competition Committee to make kicking extra points a little harder, knowing that his kicker won't have any problem making them, but most other kickers will shank a few? How has the national media not picked up on this, yet? It's manipulation of the system on a grand scale.

Yeah Mazz has been whining because he thinks Gostkowski has been grossly overpaid. So yeah it was a mistake to make the best kicker in football, the highest paid (I think) kicker in football. This coming from the two guys who think "the cap is crap" and we can retain all the good players, all the time if we weren't cheap.

He's a moron in general. Though I do find it interesting that Gostkowski hasn't had to attempt many "clutch" field goals with seconds remaining. I may be blanking but I can't recall many times he had to kick a game winner from say...40+ yards. I recall he shanked one against Arizona few years back.

Jags kicker missed three straight, all for the win, two at end of regulation and 1 in OT.....
Must be something to do with balls used in Colts games....

They should just have a big Kicker workout tomorrow so that all those teams can come in and watch every free agent kicker, otherwise these guys are going to have to go to 6 separate workouts. Different note, Did any kicker miss a PA yesterday?

He had had a few, I remember one against the Bills in buffalo in 2013 and another one against the Jets in overtime.

I think Chicago did

Tampa Bay kicker Kyle Brindza missed one too.
