No one wants to call a 2nd rounder "less athletic" right after the draft...
Aye. Maybe I should have compared him to Ronnie Lott. ;)

How could you possibly know that already?

Quite simple, Chung is getting the playing time as the in the box safety. If Richards was a better option he'd be playing that role.

I have been on the Richards train for a while and have been thinking at some point this year he will be the 2nd safety on team. He attacks the run aggressively. He really is a smart player and his atheletism though not top tier seems good enough.

I think he is a guy we will hit on and be a solution back their for years to come. I was never sold on Wilson and Harmon the way i am on Richards. Sometimes you just look at a guy and say hes got it. Richard has it. He really gets the game and though he still has a learning curve he will be fine.

Except the naysayers. There's always somebody wanting to bash a pick, claim it was a reach or there was a better choice available. Just read this board to see that. :)

Why wait? You can read it now: There were many, many, Many better choices available
where Richards was picked.

I don't know if it is true or not but I get the impression the the Patriots are going more with 2 LB and 2 SS more then usual. Richards playing time is increased while Mayo's reps are less. Probably more of a game to game type plan but I am impressed with Richards so far.

Harmon is not an elite FS like McCourty but he more then adequate as a back-up. He makes good plays and sometimes the odd bad play but he certain isn't a liability.

The truth is there is not a 4-3 or 3-4 base anymore. The base is 4-2-5. It is not about who is the better player as much as you just can't afford to have a 3rd LB on the field in most plays as usually there are 3 pass catchers on the field most

Richards seems to have an insticnct to him. Something that makes him different from the Tavon Wilsons and Duron Harmons of the world.
No question.

Too bad you couldnt drop Richards brain in Bing Bang Clock's cranium.

Oh most definitely. I lost brain cells even hearing the guy talk.
Such a shame. Merriweather had elite physical talent but was dead from the neck up.

Hope Duron Harmon sticks around a few years. I like him, fills a role well. Probably gets decent money to start somewhere in two years. I think Richards might have pro bowl talent, real smart guy and it's showing already.

Think he was a bit better than given credit for, he was really clutch have to give him that. Must have been a real dbag in 2011 to get cut because we could have used him big time.

He never learned from his mistakes. Always took bad angles. Head hunted. Stubborn.

My understanding is that he wanted to renegotiate his deal they tried to trade him and got zip for offers.

He literally hit like it too. Seemed to not bother him using his head to hit opponents.

Brandon Spikes received the majority of playing time in 2013 over Collins during the first half of the season. It doesn't necessarily mean Chung is the better option it might just mean Richards is being made to earn his position, which takes more than 3 games.

Spikes was a better option then that's why he played over Collins. Collins then developed into a better player.

Richards could also develop into a better player. But he's not now.

Frankly, if you or other people think Richards is a better option as a run defender, it's not a big deal to me. What it comes down to is who Belichick thinks is a better option. And right now, it's Chung. That's why he's getting the playing time.

Maybe one of our draftniks has some info on Rodney Harrison's athleticism. My recollection was that his athleticism wasn't that gr8, but he was still a gr8 player.

I never wouldve forgave Harmon if Seattle scored on that last drive in the Super Bowl

Jordan Richards seems to sniff out plays pretty well (smart player), but he is not so hot in pass coverage. He gets behind the receiver (too slow?), and they does not turn to look for the ball when it is in the air. He would have been a solid 5 round pick, but maybe he can improve.

Harmond has laying out some savage hits.
