The thread about Belichick's son set off some thoughts about the future of the New England Patriots.

Just assume for a second that the Patriot Dynasty ends in like 6 years, just like every previous Dynasty. It'll never happened, and we'll always be the greatest team in football, but just imagine anyway.

No magical replacement of GOAT coach and GOAT quarterbacks. We flare out like the Steelers, Cowboys and Niners before us.

The ghosts of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are going to linger in that stadium forever-- that team forever.
If we suck and then continued to suck, it'll take about 10 or 15 years to really settle into it, like getting used to riding around on a moped and saying "Chow" when you used to be the Roman Empire.

Whoever has the jobs of coach and quarterback, for the fifteen year window post-BB&TB12, is basically screwed. Nothing will be even close to good enough. Can you imagine a mediocre/****ty team wearing Patriot uniforms? It just sounds disgraceful.

I want to boo just thinking about it. It'll be like their insulting the hoodie and #12.

How bad are those jobs going to be after the retirement of the two GOATs?

Why even go there?

This place erupts when we don't put up forty points every game. I can't imagine what it will be like after back to back 2-14 seasons.

Thankfully, the Josh McDaniels/Jimmy G dynasty will have started so that won't become a reality.

Didn't vote. Can't vote. Don't want to think about it. I'm enjoying this ride too much now.

It'll be a lot quieter, with only the true die hards left.

That depends upon how good they are. Part of the unseen legacy of Belichick will be the culture of winning and systems created to maintain that culture of winning. They will never match the performance of the Belichick/Brady Era but they can still be really good and win more Lombardi's. This Patriots franchise understands what it takes to be great, and Patricia, MacDaniels, Garrapolo, and the rest of the infrastructure can keep them winning imo. Hopefully Steven Belichick is a part of that.

It'll be a new beginning. And to me if the next era can capture a Super Bowl it will be an amazing story. I won't hold it to that high of an expectation to be better than the Brady BB era.

no patriots tomorrow.:(

and yea the successors are ****ed.

It sucks for sure. Patriots will never be this good the rest of our lifetimes.
At least we can say that we are here now. Very few franchises have ever been able to. Be grateful for every game BB and TB12 provide to us fans. It won't be like this forever.

One of the greatest runs in sports ... ever and it's not over.
To replicate would be odds similar to winning a lottery.
Won't bother me when it's over ... we experienced something few fans ever get to enjoy.
Never imagined we would ever win ... just seemed destined for other teams ... not us.
Then 2001 happened .... followed by 2003 - 2004 - 2014 and there should have been 2 more.

I do think with Jonathan and Bob Kraft ownership it may well continue at a high level ... I'm hoping for that.

I don't think the Patriots will ever fall into the sub-cellar they lived in for decades as long as the Krafts own this team. They may not be as dominant as this streak but they will be one of those teams that are always in the hunt.

I only worry about the first couple of years post The GOATS, when the rest of the NFL smells blood in the water.
