A good read out of Baltimore praising Belichick's coaching.

http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-preston-column-1003-20151002-column.html

It starts like this:

"If you watched Thursday night's game between the Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers, it's easy to figure out why the New England Patriots have won so many Super Bowl titles since the turn of the century.

The AFC doesn't have any other head coach in the class of the Patriots' Bill Belichick."

I'm in blind homer mode this weekend. Love this stuff.

...and Preston is 100% right.

True, Harbaugh is really good in his own right tho. Certainly not BB lvl but a really good coach.

Game management and play calling failures do leap out, and Tomlin in particular is a total disaster in those areas. But the more I watch other teams, the more I'm struck by deeper problems with preparation, strategy and in-game adjustments.

Chuck Pagano is a great example. For all that the Colts' OL is rightly faulted, I think it's the coaching staff that has really failed Andrew Luck. As far as I can tell they don't adjust their game plan to the opposing defense at all. Nor do they tailor their offense to cover up the OL's weaknesses. I'm so used to watching the chess game that is BB's game planning that it's kind of shocking to watch other teams play checkers.

EDIT: For another example of coaching differences, take Michael Williams' observations of how the Patriots do things:

"It's very impressive. I can tell you that now. A lot of other teams will try to fit you to what they want you to do. I feel like at the Patriots, they say, 'This is what you do, and this is what we're gonna do with you.' It's that simple. They're not trying to change the pieces to the puzzle or anything. They just use what they have, and they put people into their system so that person's skills can be shown.

Dimwit fans across the land think that because NE has Brady.......NE will always win. Last time I looked, multiple teams possess "top tier" QBs...like Manning and Rodgers.....yet only NE manages to reach the Conference Championship game every year (almost)...and Super Bowl every other year. If all it takes is a stud QB, then why is it only NE who can maintain consistent dominance?
Of course it is BB!! And I would argue the complexity of this year's passing game is truly "revolutionary"...since that word seems to be on our lips recently. Some teams "do what they do"....and NE seems to have a new offense every week.

BB has his perfect QB in Brady, other 'elite' QB's can't process information quickly enough to master this offense.

About those "old World War II fighter jets" ...

Lol! Did this really happen?

In what was the most important play of the game at the time, the Steelers faced a third-and-5 at the Ravens 24 with 1:51 left in the game. As Pittsburgh came to the line of scrimmage, the Ravens had only 10 players on the field.

Huh?

Fortunately, the Steelers called a timeout.

I think its a combination of both BB and TB being together for 15 years. No other team in the NFL comes even close to having the same HC/QB combination this century.

When opposing teams' fans want to denigrate BB, they claim his success is only due to having TB as his QB. Then, when it's suggested that TB is the GOAT, these same dimwits claim he's a system QB (I love that one) who is overrated and gets preferential treatment from the officials.

As most coaches struggle to keep their job, firstly, BB is focused on the subtleties of the game (aimed at winning), most of which, are not even on the radar of the rest. And they know it.

Do they accuse him of cheating to cover up for their own state (i.e. chaotic; coincidence theorist; blame it all on <reason du jour here>)? o_O

We are so used to the supreme competency that this organization represents, from coaching, on down, that for us, including me, it's puzzling and sometimes shocking to see games and personnel being so badly managed by other teams and their coaches, even on a professional level. I sometimes think, "how do you get away with that?"

I remember watching the Chiefs vs. Broncos MNF game and being stunned that Reid, in his 15 year career as HC still has not bothered to make sure that his team masters the 2 minute offense. It is just astounding, this lack of attention to detail. For me, if you can't be a professional, you shouldn't be part of the game at this level.

It makes me conclude that ownership is 100% accountable. How many owners buy a franchise without truly understanding the game? It's the only thing I can think of that makes sense in that all those bad coaches and personnel just keep sticking around, bouncing from one organization to another. It also explains why Vick, who is truly dumber than a bag of rocks, has managed to eke out a 15 year career.

From the article:

"Good coaching makes a difference, which is why the Patriots keep going to Super Bowls."

"Watching NFL games has become hard at times these days. The officiating is poor, quarterbacks untouchable and the tackling atrocious."

"There are some teams and players that are fun to watch, but few teams are disciplined. In the AFC there are several good coaches but there is only one Belichick."

A few were in service at the end of the war in Europe range restrictions prevented them for being a factor in the Pacific.

Then give us our friggin' picks back!

But it is so much easier to say the other guy is cheating when in reality, you are an idiot. People complain about the lack of QBs in the NFL, but the same thing could be said about coaches.
