I didn't know this was allowed. Thought once declared out, he is out.
 
I thought so also.
 
It's the Jets. Even if that were true, and he's out once he's declared out by the team, there would be a special override to that rule.
 
Minnesota did this with Favre, too. League didn't give a damn then iirc.

There is nothing wrong with that. A player lent inactive until declared inactive on game day
 

For players not already designated as “out,” clubs are to notify local media, their opponent’s PR Director, and their Conference Football Communications Director of any player on their injury report who does not travel to a road game due to injury. Such a player is considered “out,” thus necessitating this update.

What!! It's common knowledge among Patriots haters that Belichick has spies checking who gets off the airplanes so he has advanced knowledge of who is out. It was reported in SI.com so it must be true ;)
