Odds of Patriots getting their 2016 PSI draft picks back?

It's not about deflating game balls. A coalition of owners were able to take the draft picks to level the playing field and give them a chance at beating the Patriots in the future. They had the chance to do it so they did.
One quibble. They didn't level the playing field. It was level and they didn't like the results so they tipped it in their favor.

No one's filing a defamation suit either.
Absolutely, that ship has sailed. No draft picks, no defamation suit by Kraft, nada, zilch, rien, efes.....
When Kraft accepted the penalties, he effectively waived his right to take legal action and they were gone...forever....
I almost wished he had gone Michael Corleone at the owner's meeting and his Billionaire Boy's Club. Yes, I know they are all chummy and could conceivably "kick him out" but do you want to kill the goose that helps lay the golden egg?? If all they care about is money, then they keep Bob in the club, just beat him down, especially if he will take it...repeatedly
I hope when Jonathan takes the reins, he is more the type that when one of the owners talks (or acts) about screwing the Patriots in the future, he leans across the table and quietly says to them, " they'll bury you first" and give him a death stare. (metaphorically speaking of course but they don't know that--not an actual threat of physical harm but 'crazy talk")Let them think you are just crazy enough to go nuclear on the league....Something has to be done, because there will be a next time...and a time after that until this s*it stops and somebody stands up to Goodell and the clowns at 345 Park Avenue.....
Another method is to pick off Goodell's underlings one by one to neutralize him. This will likely be tougher as it involves getting other owners (with no love for the Pats) to go along. You get them and and tell them you want one guy, say Kensil gone...fired and work towards that goal. Once he's gone, you move on to someone else. This can be done by neutralizing him or documenting all his transgressions and how he screwed up. Take the NFL approach and leak to the press. (is it absolutely true?? See how they like it when the shoe is on the proverbial other foot.. ).... I believe that this was the goal and effect of the Kraft's producing the Wellsreportcontext.com. It prevents Ted Wells from ever doing another 'independent' investigation for the league. That and Berman's scathing court decision... Wells is down, now move on to bigger fish as you work your way up the food chain until all his sycophantic ex-Jet toadies are gone..
Rant over.,......

I am expecting Belichick to somehow end up with at least a top 10 pick in the 2nd round ... which is close.
My gut says Bears or Saints who are both in fire sale mode ....ala Chandler Jones in a Richard Seymour type trade ( if the other new team could sign Jones to a long term contract). The Saints are in cap hell but it never stopped them before.................

Ultimately Bob Kraft will be able to go before a league meeting IN PUBLIC and ask a simple question, "Why don't we have a first round pick this year>?" It is a question that Roger Goodell will have no good answer for.

And the fact that Goodell will have no good answer for it is precisely why Bendover Bob will never ask it.

The only way the picks would come back was if there were a public outcry. And the only chance there would ever be of that would be the NFL releasing this season's ball measurements and people seeing that balls in games like the AFCCG had the same pressure drop as those balls.

Which means there will be no public outcry:
  1. The NFL will never release ball measurements that would exonerate NE. The procedure they've come up with, while on the surface seeming very involved and precise, is actually really loosey-goosey in all the ways that matter. So the NFL will easily be able to fudge the measurements such that NE will never be exonerated. Hell, I expect them to use the measurements to retroactively frame NE some more -- "see, these measurements prove they really did cheat".
  2. Even if the balls matched the AFCCG balls the media and the fans would look the other way since they hate NE so much, and again there would be no traction and no outcry.

Even then there would be no public outcry because everyone is happy to see the Patriots get bent over. They could take away the Patriots' #1 until BB/TB12 retire, for no reason, and the majority would be fine with it.

The only way I can think of that he Pats would get the picks back is if they obtained clear evidence of an NFL scheme to attack the Pats or some other evidence damning owners or high ranking NFL officials. I think the original title of this thread was more appropriate.

Unfortunately I'm in the 0% camp. We're in this weird spot where there's virtually no evidence and, yet, we're being punished anyway. And while Kraft has very little he can do legally, he seems intent on putting forth the most spineless, flaccid, pitiful defense of his organization as possible.

Didn't Kraft give it up (i.e. money, #1 pick and Brady) for the good of the league?

Reminder: when the Pats were on their way out of town- before Kraft bought them -it was for the good of the league.

The picks are gone because Kraft allowed the league to take them

It would be nice if Bob would complain about it, or at least get in front of a camera and ask why goodell is keeping the picks, but it appears that Bob is going to be a good little owner and keep his mouth shut. For the good of the 32

In the bowels of Madison Ave. this is all part of a nefarious plot to try to slow this franchise down, as it makes no sense for them to discuss parity as long as the Patriots continue to be as successful as they are.. they spread the rumor that the Pats were cheating and their little "follow alongs".. followed along.

...

Absolutely.

After the 1993-94 season, coaches started telling their GM's who started telling their Presidents who started telling their owners who started telling fans and the media that the days of dynasties were over; that the Aikman Cowboys would be the last team to win multiple SB's in the space of a few years.

And, fans and the media settled in for a new era of mediocrity...aka "parity"...where coaches and GM's and owners were relieved that they would no longer be held accountable by their fans and the media for continuous success. "Hey, it can't happen."

Then, less than a decade later, Belichick and the Patriots started winning and didn't stop...three SB's in four years, six trips to the SB in 15 years, I've lost count of the number of trips to the AFCCG and how many Division Titles over the same period.

And, so, rather than admit that "Parity" did not mean that a team with a brilliant HC and a QB drafted in the Sixth Round could not consistently achieve excellence, they resorted to the oldest explanation in the book..."they cheated."

Even if the balls matched the AFCCG balls the media and the fans would look the other way since they hate NE so much, and again there would be no traction and no outcry.
And the Pats balls will always be off by .4 because Walt Anderson 'misremembered' which gauge he used.

If Kraft doesn't do something proactive to get thos picks back......they we aren't going to get them back.

And what exactly leads you to believe that Bendover Bob, Lord Protector of the Other 31, would do any such thing?
