NFL and Steelers respond to Patriots fans: "Roethlisberger didn't have a cell phone on the sideline"

We can also just look at the obvious:

It bends and has vanishing buttons that also warp shape and change position.

What about his right hand bend? His thumb appears distorted on the first two images.

It seems like since his hand is distorted (from movement) the device in his hand would appear distorted also. The clearest image with the least distortion appears to be image 4 and 5.

. Matt_Gercke the league's spawned a generation of tinfoil hat wearing forensic experts ready to tattle at drop of hat. Coaches, GMs, execs

This is a situation of the idiot league's own making. A barely competent NFL pres would realize that ****ing witch hunts, justified or not, do nothing positive for the league's image despite the intense interest they provide and would operate under the radar as much as possible.

But that wouldn't provide the ego stroke ol' Roger.

Can anyone magnify the image on the left, clean it up and post it all over the Internet...or in the alternative send it anonymously to Ernie......?

Preliminary results are "THROW BALL TO BROWN" "GIVE BALL TO BELL" "LIMP AND GRIMACE"

I'd prefer not to let the lowest common denominator of idiot NFL fans turn us into the same thing as them.

this is the height of dumb. we're 3-0 and look good. the steelers have horrible coaching and will be lucky to win 2 games without Roethlisberger. move on.
A lot of us are just poking fun, I could care less about this BS.

maybe im in the minority, but it doesn't appear to be a phone to me. If you watch the clip in the first post, the "buttons" aren't there at the beginning, they appear to me to be reflections. Plus it seems pretty bent in his hands, not solid like a phone. Screenshot from the very beginning, no buttons, pretty curved.

Yeah. I'd have to be absolutely sure that that's a cell phone before I advocated a fine or suspension. If that were Brady, most people would be saying the same thing. I really can't tell definitively that that's a phone.

I have no idea whether the object in question was in fact a cell phone.

But I find it more probable than not that it might have been a cell phonish object. And therefore Roethlisberger should be required to hand over his cell phone to the commissioner in order to ascertain if it was. Refusal to hand over his cell phone should result in a 4 game suspension in accordance with established precedence.

Holy crap. Its Friday and I was trying to have a little fun by finding an old cell phone image.

Is it me or does the guy in the pic look like a certain attorney that likes to write fictional reports about deflated footballs.

as an aside, why does the NFL care if a player uses a cell phone on the sideline during a game?

People need to watch the clip in this tweet:

Pause the video and grab the slider, you can go through frame by frame by sliding it very slowly which is how I got all of the screenshots I've posted. It is painfully obvious that it is not a phone. It also almost appears as if he's folding it before he grabs it with his other hand to put away.

I think it's mostly optics. Players should be engaged in the game, not tweeting or sending instagram pics. At least that's my opinion, I don't think there's any real 'integrity of the game' at stake if a guy's a dumbass and doesn't care enough to stay focused on the field for the three hours a week they're paid to perform in front of 60,000 fans and X million at home. Should be on the coach/team to enforce player conduct but the league's taken it upon themselves.

I believe the NBA has a 'no cell phone' policy as well, I think someone got in hot water liking some chicks instagram photos during halftime of a game last year.

LOL. I think you are right.

Well, at least I was able to do some more research on the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.:p

Yeah but Greg Aiello also lied about the amount of time Brady would have in the appeal to the public.
#Integrity
Thats the issue. As a fanbase and especially people on this board who have wasted hours digging into Framegate and caught these knuckleheads in bold-faced lies are perfectly within our right to be skeptical of anything the NFL Office says or does that is supposed to be authoritative in nature.

FYI it wasn't blue, the colors are messed up in that picture. It WAS black...with the volume controls you expect on any top-of-the-line armband.
Clearly it's white and gold! :D

I don't care whether the Steelers get fined but I do want the NFL admit they are lying and to publicly admit that because it's not the Patriots they don't care. Let's just put it out there, there IS a double standard in the NFL.

I think the Edge is a gimmick and a much bigger damage risk than the normal s6, got myself an s6 Monday as an upgrade from my old S4 and haven't found a single flaw with the phone yet outside of needing to redo my playlists, but that's every new phone.

I have the S4 and am debating over the S6 or S6 Edge.

I agree- I dont like the slide camera.

NFL investigation found the following text activity at the time in question...

"this is dominoes just confirming your two 30" double thick pan extra large triple cheese pizza's loaded with every topping extra sausage and burger, a 50oz diet coke and large order of bread sticks/sauce dip, if yes click and confirm"

"Confirm"

Goodell and the league office are proven liars with a proven bias. If they assure me that it's not a cellphone, I have absolutely no reason to take them at their word.

I really have better things to do with my time than to review Zapruder films of this d-bag's activities on the sidelines.

I'll just file this under unsolved mysteries and/or Exhibit #"497,845" of why this league is a f*cked up mess run by an idiot with an anti-Patriot bias.

And if that were the case do you think the league would accept the Patriots' word for it that it wasn't?

NFL spokesman say that it is more probable than not that the object being used was an armband. The league further concluded that what they say is what it is and any further discussion is unwanted. Therefore the league has ruled that they again stand for integrity and only the integrity of the game!
To celebrate this decision, the league plans to have more games in London to signify the integrity of the league!
