Boston Magazine: Why is Robert Kraft so desperate for our attention?

Personally, I don't like the media opening up someone's personal life. Information that was in article is no one's business but Bob Krafts.

A lot of us are needy and want attention...big deal.

I like Robert Kraft and nothing in that article changes that.

Are you claiming that, because he did something so daring in January, he just had to grovel and publicly capitulate in May to limit the resulting damage? If that's your point, I disagree. If your point is something else, I'm not understanding you.

My position was, he was shocked [as i was] by the punishment, probably wanted to strangle the head clown, then, in consultation with his son and others concluded he couldn't do much about it in a system where the executioner is also the court of appeals and so made a complete fool of himself trying to reverse course.

I think he's guilty of being a human being who looked foolish.

I don't necessarily disagree.

But what I bolded is the biggest problem I have with him. Does he lack that much awareness that he had no idea? If that's true, then I'd have to worry about how much of the Patriots perception nationwide was his lack of awareness to begin with.

I think he was unaware because he was very involved in the league, enjoyed accolades like"most influential owner in all sports" and assumed the snithead who's work he was doing and doing well was indebted to him at least, not planning on stabbing him in the back.

We are all involved in our own ego and thoughts. you hear it every day. I do everything for him/her that company etc. they can't get by without me.

It's obvious from his previous statements he expected an apology [he said it].

Who, in their right mind, expected this to be more than a day old story. Brady laughed at it on the radio and had to pull back.

Anybody here who thought this apparent silly super bowl week story would turn into team punishments and Brady punishment and loss of appeal raise your hand. you're full of beans.

Kraft was shocked, betrayed and insulted and didn't think this was real, especially after that shoddy cartoon of a study by that con man. Kraft was made to look like a fool and was totally confused because he was trying to act like he was in reality instead of an alice in wonderland world.

By the way, if you want to discuss a long and complicated article and not just ignore it, the best way is to take out one sentence and pretend that's what the whole article's about.

Writers, after all, are supposed to have perfect knowledge of what every poster on a messageboard thinks before ever starting to research.

I am hearing excerpts from the article on WEEI and it seems like a smear piece on Kraft. I know they are cherrypicking quotes from the article, but it seems pretty shoddy of a piece like slamming him for dating a much younger woman (hey, this happens in Hollywood all the time and by celebrities everyone love) and his family for defending it, becoming a successful businessman disappointing his father who wanted him to help people as a rabbi (as if Kraft doesn't help people as a billionaire through his charities) and only doing charity work for the attention.

I know it is a long article and you can make the article look bad by taking out select lines out of a much larger piece, but it seems like anything but a slanted piece from what I have read.
I finally got around to reading it, and for the most part I thought it was excellent.

Of course the shoddy reporting about spygate pissed me off. The author really should have taken a few minutes to either read or have someone with knowledge explain that what the Pats did was NOT cheating. I'm afraid he thought the story about calling BB a putz for over playing his hand. was just too good to pass up, even though he could have told the same story, and showed that it wasn't cheating, just arrogance.

As for the ass hurt business rivals, too bad. ANYONE with that kind of success leaves plenty of people who didn't like things that came out of the hundreds of business deals they've been in. And as for being needy....it's one of the biggest motivators there is among successful people.

Bob Kraft has done over $100 Million in good deeds over the years, and will do more in the coming months. He deserves more than forgiveness needed to overcome his missteps for whatever mistakes he's made. We ALL need that amount of succor

However there was one thing that was new to me. I always thought that Kraft made his fortune otf the start his father in law made. But according to this story Kraft made the bulk of his original fortune on his own, and THEN bought his father in law out and built his paper empire. He'd didn't just piggy back Myra's dad's work, like I had heard so often. Interesting

If those toxic media whores at WEEI in the morning want to smear Kraft by cherry picking small sections of the story they only expose themselves to being the festering pus sores that they are. Now it might be in MY preview to bash Kraft for his "Mistake in May". That is my right as a Pats fan. I can hate the act, yet respect the man, because in the end it's just one bad act, and there is a long and broad body of work to judge.when considering the legacy of Bob Kraft. (besides I'm still holding out hope he can recover from the "Mistake in May". )

Actually it was the homer WEEI show in the afternoon slamming the piece about those cherrypicked points.

Thanks for the synopsis of the piece. I may get around to read it.

I read the whole article. It just didn't change anything about my opinion of Kraft.

When he sent out that pathetic release after Brady won his court case blaming the lawyers, he lost me for good. Nothing short of him wielding the axe to take off Goodell's head in a public execution will get me back.

Let me say that based on the article I stand corrected about Kraft as a person and as a businessman and can understand why some on this board are willing to overlook the current fiasco based on his overall ownership of the team. However regretfully, I cannot understand his blindspot regarding Goodell and his fellow owners who have been shafting his team and its fans since 2007. Did he not realize that Goodell was orchestrating the destruction of the reputation of his team while Kraft was protecting the POS. Maybe now he realizes that he has been played for a fool for years but it is too late in my opinion to benefit the team and its fans in the future. We can hope that Jonathan is not subject to that blindspot.

I don't think Goodell did much between 2007 and last year except take advantage of Kraft doing his work. We now know that new orleans took a screwing in between.

I do agree that Kraft got played for a fool, I just don't see how what Goodell did was predictable, but maybe it was. I think Kraft though he was his puppet and got hosed.

Still don't see how anything goodell did was logical for a sane person. It will cost him his job, I'm sure of it.

Oh, and classy move to actually read the article, feeling as you do.

He's not losing his job, period. He will probably even have his contract extended.

He actually gained support from more owners because of this. And he didn't lose the support of any of them, not even Kraft. With ratings up higher than ever, why would he be fired?

the spineless jelly fish lost me when he sold tom down the river,to be able to go to arthur blanks exclusive parties.
also backed down and cost us a 1st round pick over nothing...

I noticed that too. Interesting if true. I'm not really ready to credit it as being authoritative, however.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Kraft feels like it has a different twist, but isn't really clear. One thing I got from that that I didn't know is that Kraft owned a TV station for a while.

That came out as my quote, but it was another poster.

I don't think he thought Goodell was his puppet but would do what was right and have some integrity, goody has none and I think he knows that now. One thing about BK is he learns from his mistakes.

This was a very weird article, without any real insight after the "off" declaration about him. Basically he's a big jerk for giving a lot of money for charity. Because he doesn't do it anonymously.
