Thursday Night Football: The Pacifier Bowl

After watching the game last night, I can safely say neither Pittsburgh nor Baltimore are going to sniff the playoffs. Last night's game seemed like both teams were trying to lose.

The Steelers are nothing without the rapist. Vick is awful. Geno Smith awful. They gave him easy throws all night and he still had problems hitting them. Mike Tomlinson may be the worst coach to ever get a Super Bowl ring. I mean Barry Switzer is a genius compared to him.

The Ravens were gift wrapped this game all night and they needed to go to overtime to get it done. The Steelers have an awful defense with a mediocre pass rush. Yet they sacked Flacco five times. Flacco needs a deep threat to be remotely effective and his only one had knee surgery yesterday and now he may have lost two more receiving weapons for a while. And Mark Trestman is the worst offensive coordinator in the league. If they can barely beat the Steelers without Roethlisberger, they are going to struggle to get 6-7 wins this season.

I don't see either of these teams sniffing the playoffs. The Steelers might have if Roethlisberger was healthy, but they could have 6-7 losses by the time he gets back in 4-5 weeks. I can't see the Ravens beating any good team. The Bengals may wrap up the division by the end of November.

Who ARE the playoff contenders then besides us? Bengals? Denver? Whoever winds up winning the putrid AFC South (Colts by default I guess)?

Right now, considering all the other AFC teams, Steelers, Ravens, and Buffalo look like the cream of the crap . . . as pathetic as that may sound.

Yes, I agree that there could very well be at least one team who gets a WC spot at 8-8. Definitely at 9-7.

It's fun to try and write some of these teams off, but the reality is that BAL will likely be 3-3 and right back in the wild card race in a couple of weeks.

Some team could win the AFC South with an 8-8 or worse.

Mike Tomlin may be the worst coach to ever get a Super Bowl ring.

He and Rapistburger were the biggest beneficiaries of Brady getting injured.

steve smith is such a ***** and hypocrite. It's ok for him to talk **** and get physical but when you talk or hit back he gets salty.

Let's see if the nfl* fines him for saying post game that mike mitchell is on his "lifetime hit-list"

Somebody call a "waaaaah-mbulance!"

I wonder how Cowher felt being there last night ... And how Steelers fans felt seeing him on the field.

So did the whole Roethlisberger-cell phone thing go unnoticed last night or was there nothing wrong with it?

Could Nance and Simms been any more pro Balt Pukes? Not that I care who won or lost this game and was really hoping for a tie but it struck me that the rooting interest for them was more than biased toward the Pukes.

Pats, Bengals, Broncos, and Colts will probably win the division. I think Buffalo will get a Wild Card. The last Wild Card could be an 8-8 team. I don't see either of these teams being 8-8 unless Roethlisberger makes a miraculous recovery. The AFC sucks.

Hate both teams but glad at the result. Would love to see pitt go 5 seasons without a playoff win their fanbase deserves iit. Balti is done anyhow imo, and I wouldnt even be teribly upset if they were to somehow sneak into the playoffs, wed eat them alive imo if we met again. The colts gaame in a couple weeks is a good preview of what would probably happen.

The thing about Buffalo is they lack depth. I could easily see them derailing from injuries/exhaustion later in the season.

Assuming the Patriots stay healthy, it's hard not to get excited about our superbowl chances. Unless Manning learns how to age in reverse or you are concerned that Marvin Lewis is going to out-coach Belichick in the playoffs, it looks more and more like a cakewalk.

Just watch, Ravens get 8th seed with a matchup against Denver or the Bungles in WC round. Of course, they'll beat either of these teams and then play us next.
8th seed? Only 6 seeds per conference for total of 12 teams...

Do NOT sleep on Denver. Their Defense is for real - probably the best in the AFC. They're not deep on D, though, and if Demarcus Ware wears down to Talib gets hurt, they lose a lot.

Their offense won't be elite, and yeah, Manning is a duck-hunter now, but they can put points on the board and execute well. Right now, I've got NE, Cincy, and Denver, in that order.

Pittsburgh woulda-been, coulda-been.

He's been hanging out with Jerry Jones. Jerry Jones has been a big supporter of 8 seed playoffs so his mediocre cowboys can make the playoffs.

like the pitt loss, with Pats tie breaker on them, it's now like both pitt and balt have 3 loses

Patriots instagram throwing a bit of shade towards the Steelers?
