Many here like Swanson. Belichick then acquired Coleman, Even then, Swanson seems a better prospect than Dixon or DB King). Obviously, Belichick found Swanson to be wanting.

Any reason why they'd send Thompkins away from the Practice Squad, after inviting him nearly a month ago and giving him a "practice player of the week" award just a week ago?

My guess is that the team likes what Martin is doing, and that LaFell is in relatively good shape. Thompkins is no longer needed as in insurance policy. Harper has more upside potential. Also, they wanted to look at Austin Hill, a pretty good idea IMHO.

I wonder if thompkins will get picked up, obviously if someone really liked him he wouldn't have been on the ps

Great insight. Where is that better corner at that's available? I'm referring to ones actually available, not pipe dream trade scenarios.

If the Saints are still in Firesale mode, trade for Browner.

The fans have already turned on him, so maybe we can get him back for an autographed Tshirt and a bag of deflated balls.

FWIW New Orleans is up against the salary cap -- I don't think they could afford the bonus acceleration from trading Browner.

(And maybe I'm alone in this, but he's not high on my wish list. I've always thought he was significantly overrated.)

The Patriots thought so much of Browner that they asked him to take a pay cut. He refused and they released him. Clearly the Patriots thought that his value was less than $4m.

I thought he brought some value to the team but with his 10+ penalties in 15 games with the team and his 92.6 passer rating against absolutely did not warrant $4m a year.

My understanding is that Browner is sucking in NO. Why would we want him again?

Fitzgerald? Vincent Jackson?
The best thing to happen this past off season was that Fitzgerald got a no trade clause. I don't think I could handle another "trade for Fitzgerald" thread when we have about $2M in cap space, and then have to explain to folks that no, we can't afford him and he is too expensive. He is also old. I'm amazed that people clamer to the same trade prospects for so long. I'm sure people will still ask if we can trade for him in 10 years. When he retired long ago.

Looks like BB is looking to fortify the front 7 to stuff the running game and increase pressure on QBs to be faced in the next few weeks. Weeden is known for short passes, Luck can't handle the pressure, same for Fitzgerald, and Tannenhill. There aren't any deep threat QBs coming up aside from Luck who has looked rattled of late. I think we'll be fine with the DB we have, at least until weeks 10 thru 14.

If we can have him for less than he wanted in free agency, sounds like a bargain. We'd pay his salary, but NO is on the hook for the bonuses.

When I see Bradley Fletcher ****ting on the field, I miss being frustrated over those 10+ penalties.

Browner is sucking in NO, but that doesn't mean he'll suck in NE. Blount was a disaster in Pittsburgh, and is flourishing with the Pats. Context makes a difference.

As for a reason, how about this: Malcom Butler is the guy that everyone remembers as the Hero of Superbowl 49, but that interception doesn't happen without Browner's savvy and physical, veteran play. He's the one that got Malcom lined up and he's the one that chipped the WR to give Butler a clear line to the ball. There is no doubt, without Browner on our side, Seattle would have scored on that play. Belichick himself called out the role Browner played in making it happen.

A BAG OF DEFLATED BALLS?????
WHAT WOULD WE USE TO PLAY THE COLTS?

I would take Browner over Fletcher in a heartbeat.
