20 NFL Rookies Who Are Already Looking Like Disappointments

Malcom Brown is being rookie. I suspect that is why BB traded for veteran Akiem Hicks. He provides the third big body along with Sealver and Branch to give the Pats a big body line when it is called for. Chris Price when he returns will help there too.

At the same time Dom Easley is flashing as the penetrating DT they wanted, and Malcolm Brown has been learning to do both.

Well then Odell Beckham must have been a bust since he didn't even play his first three weeks. Am I doing this right?

Anyone who makes judgments on players this early is an idiot. I'm not a big obj fan but he won oroy and I don't believe he had even played in a game yet by week 3

"...pretty terrible..." is pretty inaccurate and pretty premature.
I don't see how he had been terrible at all but some people like to be the first to call someone a bust

This list took too long to come out. I was thinking it would have been appropriate within two days of the draft.

Seriously one of the dumbest articles ever written. We are 3 games in. We are judging rookies by what they do three games into a season? All time low in my opinion. Poor tom brady didnt even get a rep in a game his rookie year in the first three games.. Bust cut him send him to the f@cking jets. This really is the stupidest f@ cking article i have ever read.

havent noticed brown at all. dont think the commentators ever say his name...only 3 weeks though.
i did expect a lot more though.

You write this article after three years, not three weeks.

Hell, Jamie Collins might have been on this list three weeks into his career.

Or Richard Seymour...

I'm not suggesting he's been good, but he had a sack on the first drive of the first game. Heard his name quite quickly, although not often since.

Pats Pulpit had an interesting article on Brown with some play breakdowns if anyone is interested:

http://www.patspulpit.com/2015/9/28...ots-1st-round-pick-dt-malcom-brown-is-kind-of

Definitely got a long way to go, as does pretty much every single rookie. But it's not always easy to notice the guys in the trenches when watching the first time.

Brown looks a lot like Easley did last year - gets penetration, but isn't square enough to adjust. I think he'll come along just fine.

Easley is a beast now when healthy...and the Pats have the luxury of spotting Brown into situations where his skill set helps the most (3rd and long?).

Here's hoping the change of scenery lights a fire under Hicks.

It's time to bring back Ron Brace.

Well atleast Rant Sports ain't putting anybody in Canton after Three games.:D:p
Bull ****. Ever been to Rosetta's on Washington St. after
3 games? Try the veal parm.

Gil Alcaraz IV is a tool ............ such an uninformed article.

Is this what passes for "sports journalism" or "analysis" get this buzzfeed esque list ******** out of my face. Any one of us could have put that article together in a half hour. "Oh brown has no sacks, oh patriots have given up a lot of rushing yards, therefore brown is a bust". Lazy lazy lazy. Not sure why this is firing me up so much but this is just ridiculous ********. Watch some tape for me one time before you start calling 20 players disappointments through week 3 of their rookie seasons.

The accuracy is debatable. But I guess my question is this: "If it's 'weird' (your word) to evaluate a rookie 3 weeks in, why did you do it?"

+1

However, it might be interesting to revisit this thread in November-January, yeah?

I shouldn't let it but this whole thread has gotten under my skin. This dude who wrote that article hasn't a clue.

It goes without saying that none of us know what will become of Malcom Brown vs DAL or as you say after Veterans Day or in 2017. I said in an earlier post that perhaps MAY think that he might need a little more time to work on technique and not be exposed in games. Who knows.

By no means am I an expert but considering that I've been watching football for 30+ years, I know what talent looks like. There is no doubt in my mind that Brown has talent. He also has a very good motor. He is also pretty damn powerful. Hes just not consistent.

He also has been playing about 25-30 snaps a game so that tells me the team is ok enough with him out there. Because hes been out-techniqued will BB give him some pine time? Maybe I will bet the farm that Malcom Brown will be a very good DT in this league. He has way too much ability, will get solid coaching and be used properly in this defense.
