How Many Quarterbacks Have To Go Down Before Polo Gets More Reps?

Of course, it's logical because you say it is. My post is ridiculous because you say it is.
Who needs an argument to actually support your case? Not you!

No, it's logical because it's a point that makes logical sense.
mgteich's post is ridiculous because it's ridiculous. If you can't see why his posting "You must all play fantasy football. Are there really other explanations for Brady playing late in the 4th" is ridiculous, that's on you for missing something that obvious.

I'm pointing these things out, not fitting them into categories by fiat.

Two obvious examples of why it's logical to keep Brady in:

  1. Big lead against Bills lost, subsequent desire to avoid repeat of such an action in the very next game, and to drive home the message about not getting complacent with a big lead
  2. Desire to get more snaps in for the entire offense during the early season, as BB has noted that the beginning of the seasons are now almost an extended training camp

You can disagree with the above arguments, but they are both logically sound, and they are both consistent with BB's past history and/or public statements.

It is definitely not a black or white issue. They ran a lot during that last drive and IIRC Brady was playing with a few of the second tier guys. So yes you are correct in that there are logical reasons to leave Brady on the field.

I believe when the game is effectively over it is the smart move to put him on the bench. The only exception I would make is the Colts game in which I hope they hang 73 points on their asses.

DI is right. We just have to live with the chance of our top players being injured when leading by 30 points with 7 minutes left in the game. Belichick is the best coach of all time. So, any strategy that he has is automatically answered with that fact. We don't know squat about football. What we do KNOW is that Brady could have been injured.

BTW, was Gronk in the game. Was Lewis? No, of course not. Brady was run pre-season reps. IMHO, Polo is capable of running those practice reps.

Explanations aren't really needed. The idea that we were afraid that JAX would catch up until thate last TWO PLAYS is just plain silly.

When and if Brady get injured, he'll be able to say that he ended his career with his helmet on. That will be little consolation.

Given my well known willingness to criticize BB, you should know better than to use that lame response with me. You're doubling down on the ridiculousness, and making your argument look even weaker, by choosing that tact.

Yes, Brady could get hurt. Yes, that needs to be part of any calculation. It's not, however, the beginning and end, as I'm sure you know. You clearly recognize it, as you're pointing to 30/7 as part of your argument in the above post. Making that 'fantasy football' crack, and then getting snarky about other reasons for keeping Brady in, essentially took what might have been a good argument and made it ridiculous.

The reasonableness of arguments don't change because of tone. If that were the case, most of us would have you on ignore.

Apparently so.

If the thought of a 6'4" 225lb. man getting gently pushed to the ground frightens you to the point of breathlessness - maybe football's not for you.

You think getting sacked by a NFL defensive player is "gently pushed to the ground"? You just proved your only experience with football is from your couch.

Btw, Bart Scott:
"I don’t know if you’ve ever seen my hit on Ben Roethlisberger, it’s the type of hit that you dream of," Scott said. "He didn’t see me, he padded the ball twice, and I finished the deal. But, if you watch me, you see me, I slide my head to the left at the last second. That was out of respect for Ben Roethlisberger because I appreciate the way he played. I appreciate the type of quarterback he was. I appreciated he played like a man and never complained. If that would have been somebody else, that helmet would have been in the middle, it would have been a keel-shot. I would have a broke rib. I would have tried to break a sternum."

I feel your angst. With this team every plan I scan the field hoping no one stays down. That said, I wonder how many QB's have been hurt in mop-op up duty? Like 4th Q Jag game for example. I just think by then it's not quite as frantic or desperate which leads to play, actions or playcalls causing the many QB injuries normally seen in Q 1-3 and/or tight important games.

This reminds me of last year, the Bears game. Lamar Houston sacked Garapolo at the end of the game where that pats were up 4 TDs. Lamar started celebrating and tore his ACL.

The moral of the story. Dont take TB out of games or people get hurt?? No?
