Patriots Trade Hooman to the Saints for Akiem Hicks

Absolutely. Hooman did a good job here. Best of luck to him.

I couldn't agree more, good luck to him. Hooman just ended up as the 4th TE in an unusually strong TE group (thanks to BB's manifestations). Our #1 TE is clearly the best in the game, and may eventually be the best ever (with health). Our #2 TE has to be the best #2 TE in the game right? (If there is another team with a better #2 TE then please correct me). Our #3 TE, Mike Williams (admittedly a binky of mine) is not one of the top TE's in the league, but he has to bring one of the most unique skill sets (a 300 lb expert blocker, effectively an extra OL, with good hands). Hooman was a valuable contributor, I wish him well. The Patriots just have three better players, and the return was really a little amazing in Hicks.

Is Asante Cleveland still on the practice squad? He looked good in preseason.

Can they please cut Bradley "toast" Fletcher! Open up another roster spot and get a CB that can actually cover and not get a penalty every time!

I feel as though I'm unable to express myself completely with these. :drinkscoffee:

Dude!! You can just pop'm into an Image, and Voila, you're there!!

Always thinkin'........

Jeff Howe @jeffphowe
Interesting side benefit of acquiring Hicks: He is eligible for the compensatory pick equation if he leaves this offseason in free agency.

The main issue is that I believe Hicks was traded because he has motivation problem, and has trouble staying focused, so that will be something to watch.

If we cut him for not having his act together, we don't get a comp pick.

And, now he has brought in Hicks, who looks like a younger, more athletic Branch. Again, BB is always planning a few years down the road.

Unless NE plans to secure Hick's services in 2016 via a franchise tag, I'm not exactly sure how an expiring contract qualifies as "planning a few years down the road"

The more I think about it the more ecstatic I am about this trade. This kid was compared to Ngata entering the NFL has that type of talent and he had a great 2013 season.

They'll Brandon Spikes him and just force him into IR.

Thank you. I fear people are over-hyping this trade. This guy is not a sure thing, he is on a 2-6 week tryout until Chris Jones starts practicing. The Pats are taking a flyer on a guy who doesn't seem a culture fit in exchange for someone they might well have just cut.

Maybe BB and SP plan to trade good players to each other every other year. That way one can suck for luck and the other wins the superbowl. Win-Win!!!

So this trade is Payton setting up to succeed BB in a couple years right? Cos we just mugged the saints.

I really love our bye week .... not your typical NFL bye week at all.

In other news the NFL is looking to strip all future bye weeks from the Patriots.
