It was the correct call on every level.

Brady's got a pretty decent head to head record against Baltimore, Chicago, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. That makes his point irrelevant from the outset.

Smith is in the same school as Jemele Hill for me. I just don't care what they have to say.

2nd half drives for the Colts, prior to the 4th and 2 call:

Start at Colt 14, INT at Colt 38
Start at Colt 20, punt at Colt 36
Start at Colt 21, TD
Start at Colt 18, INT on first play of drive
Start at Colt 21, TD

Manning was not carving up the defense in between the 20's, and he threw as many 2nd half picks as he threw 2nd half TDs, up to the time of that 4th down call. The Patriots offense was out of sync for the first 3 plays of the ill-fated drive, and ended up blowing their last 2 timeouts during it, yet BB still went on 4th. BB screwed the pooch.

And I say that as someone who thinks Faulk got the first down.

Agree that Faulk got the first down. Terrible spot.

Chris Sims is at it again too.

Love this line

watch a game with Tom Brady. Most of the time, he gets the snap in the shotgun. The first guy he looks at is usually open and he throws the ball, which is great game planning by offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

Yah! Who know that getting rid of the ball and completing passes quickly and winning games and SBs was going to be used against TB to make Rodgers look better. Chris just being Chris

???

didnt he picked the Pats to be in SB last year?

Stephen A Smith is a disaster. I had the misfortune of seeing him on ESPN a few years ago pursuing some ridiculous ...IMO... racial agenda. I decided then...that's the first and last time I watch / listen to that mentally challenged idiot.

He appeals to the have-nots I guess.

The coverage of this team has gotten embarrassing at this point. Grasping at straws that don't even exist.

Lmao in for 19-0 championship cruise

Right? The coverage of NE is just straight up laughable at this point. I don't care about sports media anymore outside of Zo and Bertrand and Mike Reiss. Oh, and I also read Curran. Sad to say, but I've tuned everyone else out in the media regarding NE.

Hey Stephen A, go back and watch the SB from . . . oh, I don't know . . . 2014 maybe . . .

It is all stupid and sad now. Just comical.

How long before someone proclaims the Pats are just a "system" team. Its coming...trust me.

Listen,

I am well aware that BSPN First Take does not count as an actual source of any credibility. I am at work, completely caught up and was using my Slingbox to watch some TV. I rolled past ESPN2 and heard this:

Stephen A Smith seriously just said "Tom Brady has a tendency to not show up against elite defenses". Then proceeded to use the "Seahawks were all injured" excuse as to why Brady shredded them.

I think people forget that Brady gave us the LEAD in both of the Super Bowls we lost.

So what is Mr. Smith really getting at? Is he implying that the Pats should try and get what they can for him on the trading block? Perhaps, Rex will trade us a bag of Doritos for the not-so-good QB? :D

He Stephen A, go back and watch the SB from . . . oh, I don't know . . . 2014 maybe . . .

Exactly. It was the first time since 1969-1970-1971 where a team led the league in points allowed for 3 consecutive seasons, so I'm guessing that the Seahawks were a fairly good defensive unit.

We all know the success that Brady had, particularly in the 4th quarter down double digits, so I think he "showed up" against a tough defense just fine.

ESPN's goal and purpose is ratings--not accurate reporting. Complaining about them is tantamount to criticizing tabloids for being sensational.

The man is doing his job.

That's basically what it comes down to. They are willing to have these "battles" pitting commentators against each other, with differing stances that change on the daily.

This is an odd argument to make about Brady considering his record of playing great in big games. what qb are they thinking of that plays so great against great defenses? I wonder if these two guys really even care about sports, I know espn just gives them random stuff to argue about

Huh, so QBs don't score as many points against 'Elite' defenses? I always knew Stephen A was extremely knowledgeable about football but this one really showcases an unexplored depth of thought provoking prowess.
