Bears fire sale

I don't know how I'd feel about Matt Forte. One one hand, he's one of the better RBs in the league, and is equally talented running and catching.

I don't know if it would be all that much more production thought than what we already have, and it might really hamstring the cap. (And he's a FA after 2016, iirc) He'll also be 30 in December.

I don't know. I'll have to think about this one.

Yeah, the salary's why I think it's a no-go. Just don't see it happening.

In some alternate world where his contract was mostly signing bonus and we could get him for cheap, though? Absolutely, he would be unbelievable here. He's Shane Vereen but with the ability to actually run between the tackles and break through arm tackles. Line him up in those 3-4TE formations and you could credibly split 5 out wide or pack everyone in and run it down their throat. And if you can do those two extremes out of the same formation, you can do pretty much anything.

He's not enough of an upgrade over Lewis to be worth $5.7M in cap space that the Pats don't have, but he is an upgrade and it would be a sight to behold.

Oh, he'd be ****ing sick here, there's no question. Blount would end up getting 5 carries a game, and Lewis would be lucky to get offensive snaps.

I like Forte a lot, I think he's tremendous. I just don't know if the money works, or if it makes sense bringing in what will amount to an 18-month rental.

@adamjahns: Phil Emery picks the new #Bears regime have parted with: Khaseem Greene, Jordan Mills, Jon Bostic and now Brock Vereen.

@djdurkin: It’s only 18 games into his career, but I’m starting to look at he seven players drafted immediately after Kyle Fuller and wondering..

@CEmma670: Kyle Fuller has been benched for Terrance Mitchell. Fuller was taken 14th overall in the 2014 Draft. Mitchell went 254th overall.

@AaronLemingNFL: Kyle Fuller is just a bad football player.
The 7 players drafted after Kyle Fuller:

Ryan Shazier
Zack Martin
CJ Mosley
Calvin Pryor
Ja'Wuan James
Brandin Cooks
Ha Ha Clinton-Dix.

He stopped at 7 because #8 was Manziel.

Even crazier is that Aaron Donald and Odell Beckham are the two guys that went before him. Basically ended up being a bad football players sandwiched by good players all around him.

2014 4th rounder FS Brock Vereen played some CB in college. His brother played ok for us.

What round pick would you be willing to give for Fuller?

A third conditional on the number of snaps he plays the rest of the season.

I would take Forte in a heartbeat. Great player, would make them much tougher to defend. They should try to get that deal done.

Give them White and a third for Forte.

Kyle Fuller had 10 pass defends, 4 interceptions, and 3 forced fumbles last season as a rookie. He isn't a bad football player, he was my top CB coming into the 2014 draft and I still think he has shutdown CB potential. The Bears a brutal team with horrible coaching and player development.

He shutdown Julio Jones early last season, if we could pair him with Butler I would be ecstatic.

Bill really really needs to trade for a CB before the deadline. If it's Kyle Fuller, then so be it.
After all, he's gotta be better than Bad Fletcher.

Money does not come remotely close to working. The Pats have $3M in cap room, and Forte has $5.8M salary remaining this year.

Lewis has been awesome. Why surrender a pick and take on a sizeable cap hit for a high level receiving back?

If we are going to after a RB, I'd rather try to trade for Alfred Morris. His cap hit would be next to nothing and would be much cheaper compensation wise. He's a better version of Ridley/BJGE.

Four, is the one player I take. However, because he's on a rookie contract he'll never be traded.

Jon Bostic is on his rookie contract.

I'd go for O'Donnell, who punted on every possession (10) on Sunday. Unfortunately he punted so many times he sprained his knee.

I am not sure why anyone wants Forte anyway, he is nearly 30 years old, and has over 300 touches each of the past 3 years. I would rather stay with the Lewis/Blount combo, which is working very well.

I would take Jeffrey, Long, or Fuller of the Bears hands but that is about it.

I think these moves are not so much a fire sale as they are the new staff cleaning house of the players they do not feel fit in their future plans.

Mmmmmmm Fuller.

Will never happen but year i can dream

Dion Lewis is a Patriot. He is young and incredibly productive. I love the guy. Matt Forte's best years are behind him.
