  • The only CB with good-looking numbers is Brown.
  • The Ss have good-looking numbers as a group, but that could be misleading due to their role.
  • The LBs taken together have 8-17, 67 yards; throwing short has not been terribly productive. And that point is strengthened if ...
  • ... you include some of Chung's 2-7, 15 yards.
Pressure stats:
Jabaal Sheard: 2 sacks, QB hit, pressure, drew 4 penalties
Chandler Jones: 3 sacks, 2 QB hits, drew 1 penalty
Malcom Brown: Sack
Rob Ninkovich: Sack, 3 QB hits, 2 pressures, drew 1 penalty
Dont'a Hightower: 1.5 sacks, pressure, drew 1 penalty
Geneo Grissom: QB hit, pressure, PBU
Jamie Collins: 3.5 sacks, 2 FF, 2 pressures, QB hit, drew 1 penalty
Alan Branch: Sack, FF
Justin Coleman: Pressure
Logan Ryan: QB hit

Run stuffs (tackles against the run at or behind the line of scrimmage):
Chandler Jones: 1 (-1 yard)
Dont'a Hightower: 1 (0)
Tarell Brown: 1 (-1)
Rob Ninkovich: 1 (0)
Sealver Siliga: 1 (0)
Jabaal Sheard: 2 (-1), 1 (0)
Malcolm Butler: 1 (-1)
Jamie Collins: 1 (-1)
Jerod Mayo: 1 (-1)
Dominique Easley: 1 (0)
Alan Branch: 1 (0)

  • If Collins were to keep up this pace, he'd have a monster statistical year.
  • Sheard's numbers are actually better than Jones', on what I think is even after the last game fewer snaps.

Butler is still young - but he is getting burned a lot more than he should be.

I don't understand those stats, that's about 77 passes which is only about half the passes.

Man Sheard is drawing the penalties.

I don't understand those stats, that's about 73 passes which isn't even half.

Good point. I make it 77 total, vs. 101 for the sum of opponents' attempts from the box scores. So that leaves 24 pass attempts unassigned.

It turns out that almost all of them were completions, because about 21 completions were unassigned as well.

So conclusions drawn from these stats could be pretty misleading ...

Note: I did that quickly, so my numbers could be slightly off as well.

Man Sheard is drawing the penalties.

To my eyes, Sheard already looks like he's been playing in this defense for years. He's active and decisive and always where he's supposed to be. What a terrific addition!

Gotta find the quote that someone had saying he would be the best FA pickup when all was said and done.

Say he's having more impact then Suh, no?

Take out his game against Antonio Brown, it looks a lot better.

Harmon 1 of 3 for 9 yards, 2 int. Looks pretty good but when you look at the Jags game he took a bad angle allowing the receiver to score a TD where it should have just been a long completion. The TD and extra yards gets charged against Butler.

It's kind of great how much safely depth we have, wasn't so long ago that Slater and Edelman were moonlighting as safeties

From a finance person who to a certain extent uses stats as a form of "advertising", I guess its clear that Patricia is using his personnel all wrong. Jamie Collins stats show that he is a legit #1 CB.
