It dawned on me that I don't believe we have one of these here threads on our magnificent board. How can that be? This is the organization that is probably the singular reason why what has become known as "Deflategate" even began. Now, before I go any further, I would like to take this moment to thank the Baltimore Ravens and their crybaby coach and crybaby owner for igniting the quiet storm that is taking place inside of TB12 to lay waste to the league. Thank you for bringing the team together and setting up what looks like is shaping up to be another special season. Okay, done with the pleasantries.

The Baltimore Ravens sit at 0-3. Flacco, their self-proclaimed GOAT, has not been able to lead his troops to a win this season. They lost their defensive captain. And try as they might, they cannot be the Patriots, even though they have been spotted running formations similar to those used to erase a second 14-point deficit en route to another SB. Hmm, anyone want to talk about them taping the Patriots' walkthrough? No takers? LOL But I digress.

So, with all that said, I thought Jonathan Kraft's remarks would be the perfect springboard to the OFFICIAL BALTIMORE SUCKS thread. Feel free and indulge in all things Baltimore that suck . . . like . . . well . . . Baltimore.

Bertrand mentioned that the league has a lot of parity at this point of the season, naming the Seahawks, the Colts, the Ravens as teams that were still winless.

"It's too bad about Baltimore, isn't it," Kraft said.

"It's too bad about all three of them," Bertrand tried to interject, but Kraft continued.

"It's too bad about Baltimore," he continued.

"It's unfortunate," Bertrand replied.

"But any," Kraft said. "But any team in this league is capable of beating another team. I bet you if had looked at what national pundits had said about going out to Oakland, I'd say 95 percent would have said Baltimore's winning the game. People don't realize that the real margin of difference between these teams is quite small and the difference between 0-2 and 2-0 can just be a couple of plays. I'm not surprised because the one thing in this league that you expect to happen is not going to happen and you see this happen over and over. It's why it's so special and it's why people love to follow it."

Bertrand baited Kraft a little by saying it's because he believes in karma.

"No, that has nothing to do with it," Kraft said. "The Ravens are sweethearts. John Harbaugh, he's a sweetheart."

Obviously it comes down to the players, mostly. But if there's anything at all to the whole thing w/a team's self-image, a general toughness, whatever, you have to think that the Ravens have been absolutely gutted here, for two reasons.

One, Suggs. On defense, it looks like he set the tone quite a bit, particularly w/vets like Lewis & Reed gone.

But the other is everything that's happened during and since that playoff game. From Harbaugh whining about how "it was clearly deceptive!" to the much bigger deal of whatever their role was in being finger-pointing, snitching, excuse-making, Mom it's not fair instigators, how does that not emasculate a team? And we do agree this matters--the Pats' "vengeance tour" that everybody's talking about is the opposite of that. The Pats are ticked off and playing with fury. The Ravens are....what? Pouting?

Again, it's mostly the talent on the field. But whatever tough guy image that team had sure feels gone to me.

John Harbaugh said:
"One of these days, we'll figure out how to cover A.J. Green," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said, via the Cincinnati Enquirer. "It'd be nice if we did it one time before he retires."
I think he meant to say, before he (himself) gets fired.

Plus, doesn't his Brother have to see a wall dedicated to TB every day he's at the (Michigan) stadium?

the wire . awesome show.
Not to hijack my own thread, but I am going to give the show another chance. I tried to get into it on Amazon Prime, but I was still trying to convince myself to keep going after about episode four or five. I'm going to jump back into it in a few to see if I can get sucked in.

**** Baltimore. I still hope they sneak in as a #6 wildcard and come to Foxboro for the divisional round. Nothing is sweeter than knocking those rat bastards out of the playoffs

0-3.....and having to go to Heinz field on Thursday.....oh baby, I smell roasted ratbird.
I would have ventured to say the same if not for Big Ben. The rumors make it sound serious, though I don't think anything definitively has been said yet. He'll have the MRI some time this morning, I'm sure. Vick, from what I heard, did not look too good. That could end up being the difference maker right there, especially considering the Steelers still have that young D. Big Ben was there to erase their mistakes. Now, they'll have a QB who is prone to a lot of them. Nonetheless, Baltimore SUCKS so I think the Steelers should still find a way to win.

Best TV series ever. Two dozen significant characters, and everyone one of them flawed yet you end up rooting for almost all of them in some odd way.

Ehh. I still can't get into it. It had its moments in the first 5 episodes or so and then just got really, really slow and boring.

This should be our new nickname for the Ratbirds: "The Baltimore Sweathearts."

The Dolts would be 0-3 too if the Titans cared the least bit about winning. These two pathetic franchises deserve the failure they are experiencing.

I certainly dislike the Ravens for their whinyness, bogus refereeing complaints, and their general excuse-making attitude. Suggs and Harbaugh are especially bad.

Their connection to the deflategate sting is a LOT less clear, though.

What we know: The Ravens warned the Colts about funny business that they thought was going on with the kicking balls, which was probably TRUE: An NFL official was removing kicking balls from games to sell them. At least, he did it in the AFCCG and he probably did it in the division game too. So the Ravens noticed something going on that was in fact real, but they were wrong to assume that the Patriots had anything to do with it.

Before the AFCCG the Colts equipment guy then relayed the Ravens complaints about the kicking balls and added his own accusations about ball pressure, without saying where that second complaint even came from. Sure, it might have come from Baltimore and the colder weather division game. But... it may also have come from an Indy-NE game in Foxboro in the past, some cold-weather game where the Colts illegally gauged a ball on the sideline (like they did in the AFCCG) while being ignorant of pressure/temperature effects. It stoked their paranoia and they bundled it with the Ravens complaint.

It would have been perfect if Indy lost, as well; both teams going 0-3. However, they managed to crawl back into the game (vs Titans) and save their season, amidst a horrible display of 3-game statistics; indicating that they have serious problems. No wonder Baltimore and Indy blew up at the Pats last year. The thinking might have been, if we don't do it this year....and the Pats spoiled that.

And it's not like these whining orgs know how to go through a winning rebuilding season like the Pats. (Many didn't even know the Pats were rebuilding because the team kept winning.) How can this be so? And because they (e.g. Baltimore & Indy) don't get it, they fall back on their "they must have cheated because no one could have beaten us" mentality.
