I know many here hate Shank. He irritates me often as well. Once in a while his homerism shows through in spite of himself. I don't ever really say I won't read this or I'll never watch that. I don't like to box myself in like that (most of the time).

It's written by Dan Shaughnessy. If you don't want to read his work, then don't. If you don't read the article, then I don't understand why you would even bother replying to this thread.

If you simply can't help yourself and must express your disdain for him I think it says more about you than it does about him, but that's just my opinion.

Anyway, I found it to be a good read....

Sorry, I can't read it without subscribing.

I wouldn't call this a homerism article. CHB just has the patent on the whole "curse" thing.

Shaughnessy is such a dipshit. First to bury them when have a bad day, worst of the frontrunners when tehy win. He somehow manages to suck in every possible way.

Not that it's worth reading, but you can always read it. Just go to a free proxy site.

I read it, it's the shank setup so he can dig the knife in if we're ever less than perfect, or say he knew it all along if we are perfect.

He does this type of column even better than Borges. The Patriots are unbeatable, every other team in the league is pathetic, blah blah blah.

It also serves to give our opponents bulletin board material, if they get close enough to use it.

Didn't read enough to see if he used his new "curse" of deflategate, but I imagine he's trying to push a book out with that title while he can.

Congratulations OP, you just got played like a backwoods hillbilly on his first trip to NYC.

Let me guess "the patriots destroyed their tomato can opponent. Their schedule/division is full of tomato cans. If they can't win a championship this year full of a league full of tomato cans it will be a massive failure". Let me know how close I was for those who read it

You've got to watch the red card in the middle, it's right there.

I won't read CHB's article. What does that say about me? It says I have read him nearly all my life. I never cared for his negativity, but he'd have some good articles and he is a talented writer. The teams I followed (Red Sox, Celtics, Pats, Bruins) were always awful or always choked so his negativity wasn't entirely misplaced. But then they started winning and winning a lot with the Pats being the most dominant team in football since 2001 and yet he could always find some negative aspect. So I started reading him less often and then rarely. Then I swore him off, but would occasionally catch an article and remember why I stopped. Now I don't read him at all. If he wrote a positive, well written article, good for him, but I won't read it.

I think we should all reply to this thread with a "no, I'm not going to click on that" so when Shaughnessy comes to the board and sees 1,000 replies, he'll click on the thread only to read the same thing over and over.

Firefox + Cookie Culler solves that kind of problem.

I don't know a good answer for mobile devices, however.

The CHB loves to write about fate, curses and so on.

This is the thing with Shaughnessy. He doesn't bother me as much because he will always be a baseball guy to me. He's only been writing a lot more football the last 5-6 years because things have been so great in Foxboro, but so ****ty in Fenway, but yea the guy as an agenda. You can tell he hates the Kraft's.

With that said, he's been on the Pats for having a tomato can schedule for years. Last year he was wrong, but this year, there is something to that. I feel every team in the league minus maybe GB and Arizona have taken steps back, while the Pats are looking more and more like a juggernaut every week.

Barring a serious injury, it would be an epic failure if the Pats aren't playing in Santa Clara in February. The Pats are too good, while the rest of the league, particularly the AFC isn't.

Honestly, he's not even worth the effort.

He's an old hack that never writes anything worth reading. Inflammatory, sure. Sometimes he sucks up too. But he never has any real insight, has no inside connections so never reveals anything interesting, never actually does any real work.

Some people don't like Bedard because he was critical of the team, but I don't mind a journalist being critical. At least Bedard would spend dozens of hours reviewing game tape and come up with insightful material and observations. If I disagreed with something he wrote, he made me think about it, look things up to verify, and I learned quite a bit from reading him. But I'm not even convinced Shaughnessy and Volin even watch the entire games. Their articles make no sense, and I've read more coherent stuff from Bills and Jets fans. That's just sad.

If people really want to read the guy, that's fine. Just don't advertise his stupid **** here. There's no real value that comes from any Shaughnessy article.

Make it stop....I'm getting dizzy.

Oh, same feeling I got when I used to read Shanknasty...except the nauseous feeling occurred almost instantly.

Even if a writer is anti-Patriots, I would still read him/her. One can learn a lot from an opposing opinion.

But if a writer simply doesn't know the basics of the sport of football, I don't.

Shaughnessy doesn't know his elbow from his endzone when it comes to football, so what's the use?

It's no different from when Kathy Lee Gifford when on a "cheater" rant against Brady on Good Morning America a few months ago.

I understand from others that Shank has put his finger up to the wind and is now writing wildly homeristic columns about the Patriots. None of it is worth a moment of my time.
