Belichick loves to address team needs during the bye week via trade. Last season we incorporated Ayers, Branch, and Casillas around the bye.

I am thinking they will bring in a CB, I do not think it will be Joe Haden, but I do think it will be a solid NFL CB.

Is Joe Haden reportedly on the trade block or something? That's a pretty big contract to take on, and would surely cost a fair amount in trade compensation--probably a 2nd.

Or were you just using that example meaning that "it won't be anything like a Joe Haden?"

I was just using him as an example as in we are not going to be bringing in an all pro player, more like a Marcus Cooper or at best a Jason McCourty.

I'm more inclined to think it will be a younger player who is not currently being utilised as best he should be. It'll be the DB version of the Martin acquisition.

Please trade Bradley Fletcher and a draft pick for a CB!! PLEASE!!!

Jerod Mayo seems like the most obvious trade bait. Send him to a team that needs veteran leadership on defense.

Jason Mccourty
Gilbert
Claiborne
Anyone from Tampa Bay
Marcus Cooper
Xavier Rhodes
Rams D backs
OR maybe stand Pat

I think a guy on a rookie contract makes the most sense, because the Pats just don't have much cap room or the ability to create much additional cap room. The suggested Mayo for McCourty swap would put the Pats $1.3M over the cap by my math, and that's not including any emergency cap room. Reiss suggested Marcus Cooper, but he's been terrible ever since the hot start to his rookie year. If we're looking at veterans, then 14/17 weeks worth of Sean Smith's $3.5M salary or Alterraun Verner's $4.25M would be easier to handle than somebody like Jason McCourty ($6.8M) or Leon Hall ($7.7M), but would still take some corresponding moves.

I love keenan lewis but idk his cap situation

Unlikely for the opposite reason of most of these guys. He'd fit nicely under the Pats' cap, but that's because trading him would be a nightmare for the Saints' cap.

Cap Wise its a killer and doesn't work for the Pats. Also why are people so eager to move Mayo. Keep the LB depth, it will be needed at some point
Exactly. The Pats are thin at linebacker, but because Mayo doesn't seem to be playing at his peak, let's get rid of him! Doesn't seem smart to me.

I think he's been able to address trade issues at the bye because the Pats have had the bye later in the season lately. Seems a bit early for teams to know if or who they want to jettison already.

Exactly! Everyone wants the defense to play a little better however a trade this early is not that likely.
