Bruschi's Thought's on Jags

Bruschi is right - their Oline is good this year, but they will likely be missing Linder, who is their best Olineman.

I did a study on Dolphins defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, as that was a big story this week, on him freelancing in last Sunday's loss to the Jaguars. There was a touch of that in the first two games, but while I was watching him, what I saw was a good Jacksonville offensive line. I saw one of the best defensive tackles in the game in Suh getting handled at times. If he had the B gap, he was getting reached. If he was taking chances and slanting into the A gaps, they made him pay. Late in the game, when running back T.J. Yeldon needed 8 yards for a first down, they got about 7 of it over Suh; they went right over his gap, he was reached

I think the offense actually looks pretty good, but they will be missing Julius Thomas and Linder. I still think they move the ball and put up some points.

The defense, on the other hand, looks very young and suspect even with Bradley at the helm. In the end I think it winds up a higher scoring, closer game than people expect.

This picture in your signature is amazing! Love it

Our run defense is a valid concern.

I think this is a good thing- a team that we'll beat, giving us a hard time in the run game. With the bye coming up, this will be a great opportunity to make some improvements in arguably the D's weakest area.

This is where not having Wilfork's ability to tie up two linemen, hurts us.

Watched a replay of the Bills game. It seems a lot of the issues with the run D are
mental not physical. Guys are being too aggressive and allowing lanes to open.
Sometime they just bite on a fake to quickly and can't recover quick enough. Some of it is
trying to do the job of someone else. All of this is correctable with coaching and better preparation.

As the year goes on with more film to study I believe PATS run D will get much better.
Also, the Bills were very good at holding and not getting caught which got them some yardage.

This has already been said by others but the run D in the first 2 games depended on the gameday scheme that BB wanted. So in the PIT game the scheme was to limit Ben's passing and not focus so much on the run. It worked even though Ben had decent numbers.

In the Bills game they tried to keep Taylor in the pocket and that obviously worked with the 8 sacks and 3 INTS.

Bortles is similar to Ben in size and arm strength but he is also mobile like Taylor. Not sure what scheme BB will apply to limit the Jags O but I trust he will come up with a plan and our D will execute it.

Best thing about the Jags is their mascot trolling Florio.

Obviously Bortles can't read defenses or is as accurate like Ben. Nor does he have the receivers. BB will dust off the "make young QB's work" playbook.

I predict that Bortles will have a good day stats-wise but make 2-3 horrible plays.

I think it will be similar to what they did with Taylor. Contained rush, make Bortles complete passes in small windows from the pocket. At 54.8% completions for the season, it seems to me like the right way to go.

It's really too bad the jags aren't good enough to knock off the colts this year

I agree. Too bad Wilfork and the FO (i.e.: Bill) couldn't agree on a number such as, for instance,
the median of the amount for which he signed with Houston and of the amount for which Branch
signed here.

Might see a bigger "dollop" of Mayo this week... I have every confidence we will beat this team.

Truth.

I certainly didn't expect Miami to be the worst team in the league. I thought they were 8-8ish, but not nearly this bad. I figured starting off with two road games had something to do with it.

No. They're just bad. Really bad. I could make a case they're the worst team in the entire league, and on top of that, they're a bunch of quitters, which is much worse than just being a bad team.

They went down 10-0 today, and it might as well have been 1000-0.

As bad as Miami might appear now, they'll be ready for us on Thursday night 10/29.
It's never easy against them; losses there in 2009 & 2013 are especially painful.
This first game is at Foxborough, so the Pats should take care of business anyway.
I hope that by then Bill will have traded for the CB we desperately need to solidify the defense.
