2016 Draft Prospect Thread

Allow me to introduce Western Michigan Jnr WR Corey Davis.

He's 6-3 and 205lbs and had a 10-154 yard game against Michigan State this weekend. That's nothing new, for since his freshman days he has put up excellent numbers:

2013 (Fr) - 67-941-14.0 Avg - 6TDs
2014 (So) - 78-1408-18.1-15

Rotoviz call Davis a "Wunderkind":

Based on my research, one of the most important on-field stats for a receiver is the percentage of receiving yards they account for relative to their passing offense. For the talented Mr. Davis, in both his age 18 and age 19 season, he has gone over 35 percent market share of Western Michigan’s receiving yards. For reference, only 26 FBS receivers since 2005 have accomplished that feat before their age-20 season. Corey Davis has done it twice, joining fellow Phenom, Marquess Wilson, as the only players to do so in that time frame.

A quick look through this list would reveal a number of quality NFL receivers like Larry Fitzgerald, Julio Jones, Pierre Garçon, Keenan Allen, Hakeem Nicks and TY Hilton.

Corey Davis has twice accounted for 50 percent or more of his team’s passing touchdowns. He is the only player of the past decade to accomplish this feat (minimum 30 targets).

Probably the most amazing thing to me is that Corey Davis has accumulated so much raw production at such a young age. In fact, over the last decade, only Davis and Robert Woods have accounted for 2,000+ receiving yards and 20+ touchdowns before their age-20 season.

Here he is going up against Michigan State in his Freshman year. He doesn't win everything but bear in mind, he's a Freshman going up against two future first round CBs in Darqueze Dennard and Trae Waynes. He is certainly demonstrating an ability to compete at that level and, of course, has improved since then.

Get this man against a safety = win

Gronk, Edelman, Braxton Miller, Dion Lewis

Stop that NFL!

Has to be a Patriot

Urban Meyer product just like Percy

former QB turned WR like Edleman

And unlike Harvin has a plus character. Hopefully he stays a day 2 guy rather than go high like Tavon Austin.

Kyle Friend the Temple centre was in Bruce Feldman's 'Freaks List" described by his coach as "The strongest player I've ever coached". Want to see some evidence of that? Click on the link below.

Possible Wendell replacement?

Bump in light of the Stork concussion news.

That sounds like a made up stat, just like the "Dobson never had a drop in college"

It probably is, but even if it is, it suggests the guy is pretty good at YAC.

Assuming the off season i think we will have. I am thinking either LB or CB (Mayo replacement or a guy opposite Butler long term) I think CB is the best value as that player will be on the field more often (if he works out) than a 3rd LB would TBH.

I don't think a safety or DL makes sense on D... too many Safeties as is (hopefully Richards matures) and DL has had enough invested in it.

On offense G/C can be had in later rounds as needed but that seems okay. RB is a no unless someone truly exceptional falls which i doubt. T is a no cause Solder just got a contract and i think we keep Vollmer a few more years though possible we draft a raw guy to replace him in the future. QB is obviously a no as is TE.. Chandler/Gronk seems fine and you can peice work the rest as needed. WR is a no as well.

While it be nice to have a top WR Edelman/Lafell (maybe Amendola redoes his contract again as he seems to like being here and looks like his old self) I don't think you need it.

The only spot I consider on Offense really is OT.

I'd rank my top needs

#1 CB
#2 LB
#3 OT

and would not be mad about picking any of those spots with our top pick..

It is too early to pick players for me but that is how i see it for need and value of position.

PS. Even if Chandler Jones goes which some think may happen with White and Grissom and Sheard I think you stand pat there unless a truly talented person falls to you.

I agree, especially about White, who I think is gonna be one Hell of a PassRusher. :)

Braxton Miller blocking on special teams, takes out two with one block.

I am going to love Ian's addition of Vines. It's going to be a boon in the draft forum.

I agree with your 1+2, although I'd happily take a worthy LB with our first pick. However, I'd probably put an offensive skill position player ahead of RT. It doesn't really matter at what skill position, RB, WR or 'move' TE/HB are all worthy of drafting but I do think this team needs more depth at the offensive skill positions and with our complex system, it's always good to have a pipeline.

I think Myles Jack could fill a couple of those roles. I know its still unlikely and a long way off, but his injury could drop him out of the 1st round. And considering he has a $5mil insurance policy if he doesn't get drafted in the first round, it might be in his best interests to fall into the 2nd round.

In terms of RB, I have been quite vocal the past few years about not wanting to spend a high pick on any RB. The exception to that would be trying to set ourselves up to get a high pick in 2017 to draft Leonard Fournette, that kid is absolutely special and in my opinion the best RB prospect by far since Adrian Peterson.

Without a first, I don't think we'll gamble on a player dropping because of injury at 63. Maybe with some of those supp. picks that can't be dealt.

Myles Jack is only a junior Isn't he? I'd think he'd probably go back for his senior year - he's a lock for the top half of the first round if fully fit.

Our 2/3/4 TE offense would be unstoppable if we had a Marshawn Lynch type RB to complement Dion Lewis. I'd absolutely spend a 2nd for someone like that although probably a pipe dream.

Matt Forte is FA next season, would love him in this offense - Hunter Henry at TE with Gronk could be funny :)

Another option could be Doug Martin. That sayed, doubt BB really wanna use those kind on money at the RB position.
