Though speculation is fun, I've always felt you don't worry about a decision you might have to make 6 weeks down the road. By the time Stork comes back we may (god forbid) have suffered a few injuries on the line and we'll need one of them at guard anyway. Or perhaps Andrews takes a step back once there's more tape on him and the question is a lot clearer. For now, I'm just happy that Andrews is holding his own and keeping the GOAT upright. I'll worry about him versus Stork when both players are available.

@MikeReiss: X's and O's stuff: On Dion Lewis' 40-yard catch in 2Q, rookie center David Andrews with textbook blocking help. Drilled Mario Williams.

Andrews humiliated about 200 million dollars yesterday.

It is hard to say anything bad about this offensive line right now...I have not heard any of their names mentioned much this season at all. This was an area that I was concerned with preseason, but am slowly building confidence in as the season progresses. This O-line is so young right now, and it will only get stronger with the eventual return of both Stork and Wendell. Andrews makes all this confidence possible with 2 solid starts. The ability of the front office to find late round and undrafted talent is just insane and why I will never doubt their decisions. Let's not forget Dante Scarnecchia in all this...while he is no longer coaching, he was utilized as an advisor during the draft process....a role I hope he will have in years to come.

That said, it is easier for an O line to have success with such a great quaterback, one that can make his reads before the ball is snapped and get rid of it quickly. God, I love this team.

@OliverBThomas: David Andrews checks in on Mel Kiper's early rookie rankings - http://t.co/ztiQt7zwLw

One rookie represented the New England Patriots in NFL draft analyst Mel Kiper’s early ESPN Insider rankings for 2015.

Only that rookie wasn’t among the team’s 11 draft picks this spring.

David Andrews, who served as a three-year starter and three-year captain for the Georgia Bulldogs before signing with New England in May, cracked Kiper’s list at No. 18.

“Undrafted out of Georgia, Andrews looks like a great find for the Patriots so far, already holding down the starting spot,” said Kiper.

Yes, we will have 9 OL's when Stork comes back. There is no reason to make a mid-season trade. Besides, someone could get injured.

In the offseason, we will have one more interior lineman than we need. Belichick can decide what to do then, perhaps keeping all through Training Camp.

I'm tied for 140th in Alamo's prediction contest..... and somehow I was even more wrong in my assessment of Andrews at cut down.

It's a long season keep them all injuries can always happen gotta protect the franchise at all costs

Yeah I saw that clip not too long ago, he was double teaming what looked like Dareus and Williams came trying to shoot a gap and Andrews came off the double and rocked his world. Like, totally blew him up.

Insane awareness to be able to recognize that.

I don't know if this has been mentioned or not, but it's interesting to note that Andrews was able to handle the silent count on his own, watching through his legs to see Brady lift his left leg for the motion to snap.

In the past, we normally have the right guard tap the center on his right leg to let him know when to snap. I'm not sure why they changed it up this time (Andrews was predictably silent on the matter), but it's definitely one of the more impressive aspects to note from the crowd noise on the road last Sunday.

What was once a huge concern pertaining to the IOL is now a nice "problem" to have. We know what we have in Stork and Wendell, but Kline, Andrews, Mason and Jackson are stepping up--and it's very good to see.

Agreed. besides, the stark concussion Thing worries me a little. They held him out so long, it makes you start to wonder if he is susceptible. Playing in the middle of the line he gets a lot of contact. And with the new protocols, if he shows any signs he could be sitting a good part or all of the game. Better to keep Andrews and stork and Wendell.

High school wrestler. Bet he's tough as nails. Same goes with Stork as far as toughness. Theyre building the vengeance wall.

BB loves those wrestler guys. Grapplers.

With that said, still cool that Stephen Neal beat Brock Lesner in college wrestling.

jeesus keerist. A few weeks ago, it was what can we do without Stork??!!!!!!!!!

Now we need to depose, trade, cut him because Andrews has played well?

Clue: We are unproven at all three interior line potions.

I swear, we are like the guy who won the lottery and was despondent thinking about the taxes he's have to pay.

Maybe, just maybe, we've got a decent interior line rotation after two games, when Stork comes back!

This is New England. We ***** because we need to wait till noon to buy beer.

And I miss it here in NC! But let's do the math. Assuming Stork and Wendell are healthy, the three rooks haven't gone into slumps. That's 5 interior linemen. we've got 3 tackles, from what I see, and that's only 8 linemen? Where's the surplus?

OK, I forgot Kline. BFD.

Andrews is listed at 294 lbs. I loved to watch Mark Stepnoski for Dallas who was undersized in the 90's at 265. I wouldn't mind 294 with Stepnoski's attitude.

Well, although I agree with your overall thought re: overreacting after two games, one of the points is that we're seeing TWO groups step up and play solid on the OL when our top two IOL are out. That's huge.

Andrews/Kline
Mason/Jackson

And for what it's worth, Kline has played just as well as Andrews, and is more experienced, so it is a BFD, actually. He finished the 2013 season strong, started in 2/3 postseason games in 2014, and has started and played well in both games this year. As a matter of fact, I believe that he played in all 86 snaps at BUF, and has been effective at both LG and RG. He also started vs. Pittsburgh, and played either LG or RG in 4/5 of the personnel groupings that were used.

Overall, it gives us SIX interior linemen when Stork/Wendell get back, with FOUR tackles. That's a starter and a backup at all five of the positions before any injuries. Those who wish to make moves are foolish, in my opinion. This is hardly an area to take lightly, and many of us had 10 OL on the 53 man roster anyway.

It's like back in the day when we had Bill Lenkitis with Pete Brock backing him up. Big part of the still standing and probably won't be broken anytime soon NFL team rushing record of 3165 yards set by the 1978 Patriots. A dominant line can lead to wonderful things.

Andrews' 27 reps of BP would have ranked him 3rd among Centers at this year's combine. His 9' broad jump would have ranked second among centers and his 30" vertical would have been second among centers.

While looking at the combine numbers, I couldn't help but notice that Cardona put up some wicked numbers in the BP (30 reps...as much as some linemen), a 4.94 forty (not sure how much that will help unless we fake a punt?) and a 33" vertical.
