Yeah really nothing to see here.. Dude learned to read in his mid 40s. Hes had drug problems and brain surgeries. No need to pile on a person who we dont even know if he is even all there. Dude could have thought he was on a train ride talking to Donald Trump talking about real estate prices rather than talking to a reporter about Tom Brady.

I didn't know he was still alive.

Pro-bowl-level player for a while, certainly helped out a Darrell Green in his early days.

I think the paragraph makes it pretty obvious that he only says those things for the shock value and to get air time.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion.

He and Chris Simms would get along great......whoever he is.

The REAL shame here are the media whores who should know better and used Dexter Manley for shock value without a single regard for the man. They ought to be ashamed, but unfortunately as we all know, there is isn't a member of the sports media who HAS an ounce of shame, otherwise someone would have raised an outcry'

Dexter Manly was a great player who has always been a troubled man, but also one who has overcome much. He should never have been put in front of a mike and egged to to make a fool of himself, to create a headline for some mediot

Who ever was responsible for that should be sued by someone who actually cares about Dexter Manley. Instead for the next 2 or 3 days (because that's all this life span this kind of crap lasts) Manley will be held up in ridicule, Brady will be marginally embarrassed, or at worst put in an awkward position if another media asshat asks him about it, and no one wins except the media adding the clicks.

This really makes me mad. In fact I have an incredible urge to b!tch slap Mazzarotti until my hand bleeds, and if I can't do it someone else should

Ken, I agree. I heard this as it was happening this morning, unfortunately, although I didn't realize it was Manley raving until I heard a replay later. I assumed it was some silly fan who was trying to get airtime by acting crazed in the hopes of gaining a following on this particular morning show. When I found out it was Manley, knowing how troubled he is/was, I felt grossed out by the way the hosts were acting, just giggling and egging him on. The whole thing was absolutely ridiculous and as I turned it off in disgust I remarked to my five year old that I was dumber for having listened to it.

Did anyone post this already?

For those of you who do not know Dexter Manley, let me assure you, he had to get other people to sign his checks. It's a victory that he gets himself dressed each day. His lack of judgement has nothing to do with football. (Although I'm sure football didn't help).

He called Brady that exact name today during the interview. It was no less ignorant today than when he used it on Aikman.

I heard it multiple times. He was clearly serious. Deranged, but serious.

brady can't possibly play till 50's. no way in hell he breaks any of manning's record. no way in hell he wins another SB. he was 199th pick for a reason. he is already passed by aaron rodgers. he didn't deserve sb mvp. this year it's all rob and jules. he just has a great team around him. but no way in hell he is anywhere near the great matty ice.

I think Dexter owes Theismann money and cannot afford to pay him back.

I don't want to degrade Theismann due to Manley's stupidity ....

Joe was an excellent QB and I'll leave it at that - I enjoyed watching those Theismann led Skin's games.

Manley must have learned how to read in a relatively short time. When he was here in Tampa Bay just a year prior to that it was well known that he couldn't so much as read something as basic as a Cat in the Hat book, and he had to have somebody go with him to the bank to cash his game check since he couldn't write either. Flush with all that cash he would just go back to his hotel room and snort copious amounts of the Bolivian Marching Powder, until he finally inevitably failed one too many drug tests, ending his NFL career.

As for his comments, the original Washington Post link notes that Manley used to be on radio and when he was he was known for many outrageous comments. I'll guess that this is essentially an audition for another gig. Outrageous comments about Tom Brady and/or the Patriots is the low-hanging fruit for anyone looking to draw attention to themselves. I wouldn't put it past the NFLN to have suggested he do just that (or even pay him to do) in an effort to promote the piece on Manley that they are about to broadcast.

Looks like he, Shannon Sharpe, Mumbles Menino and Biggie Smalls all had the same oversized tongue issue.

Dexter's wrong. Not only can Brady pick up a first down but he can crowd-surf whilst doing it.

What the f*ck do I care? He can have Theisman or whoever else he wants. I'll take Brady and win Super Bowls.

There is no one in Joe Theismann's family that thinks he's better than Tom Brady.
