Jonathan Freeny Extended

I like him more than Chris White, but I hope he doesn't have to play much if any defense.

Some good FA signings this year with Freeny, Sheard, Lewis, Brown.

Good move locking up Freeny. Hes not the prototypical special-teams LB the Pats have had in the past (230ish) He is 255. Might be someone they can develop into a regular contributor at ILB.

Depending on how much and how he plays of course but the likelihood of Mayo coming back in 2016 at his current pay rate is slim and none.

A lot of opposing fans will be annoyed to discover that virtually our entire team is signed through next year. Even Dion Lewis is a RFA, not a UFA, according to Miguel. We have some big guys to sign after that (and will almost certainly do so before) but if Bill wants he can bring back almost this roster (with a few exceptions like Wendell, Hooman and Ebner).

How funny is it that all these guys outside of Sheard were from he bargain bin and have been great value. That's how you get your free agents.

Unlike the Jets who sunk all their money into their secondary by not only paying Revis and Cromartie, but giving Skrine and Gilchrist around 5-6 million each per year as well. Good luck when it comes to bringing Wilkerson Richardson and Harrison back!

Or Philly blowing over 12 million per year on a corner who's probably as good as Tarrell Brown, maybe worse.

Don't even get me started on the Colts!

Played a lot and well in the preseason. Glad to have him on the roster.

I have a hunch that the pats will extend Lewis. I think Lewis may feel he owes BB for resurrecting his career and even making Rex Ryan learn his name. The pats was probably his last chance in the NFL. It was gonna be "would you like fries with that order?"

And how much should Lewis want to be paid?

Hightower, Jones, Mayo

Sure, we have Hightower, Jones and Mayo through next year, if we are willing to use $27M of cap room.
So, yeah, they're signed.

I said through next year. They're all signed through next year. That was my point.

I have no clue what your problem is but Hightower and Jones are here next year. Period. Mayo, we'll see if they choose to bring him back based on his role as the season develops.

Obviously it would be great to extend High and Jones but they're here next year with or without an extension. PERIOD.

Maybe a trade will be made if they can't extend one. As I said : "but if Bill wants he can bring back almost this roster". It's not like last year when we had Revis, McCourty, Gostowski who were all UFA and we had no control over them leaving.

Mayo is the last of the old 3-4 regime, his 11.4 mill cap hit next year simply aint worth it, compare to 7 mill cap saveings AND a posibel of a comp pick return... Basicly you can say he's outdatet as LB in todays NFL.

$1.750mm in new money for next year for Freeny.
They must really like him.
The Eric Martin/Darius Fleming/James Morris/Dekoda Watson type ST linebackers sign for $600K.
I haven't mistaken Freeny for Larry Izzo yet.
