Agreed! I never want to see anyone lose their job BUT Mortensen is an exception. Anyway Mediots always can land some where and if worse comes to worse start an online NFL* blog, column with no real facts or references to back up'm up.

And DirecTV just lost a 17 year subscriber last night.. I had cancelled Sunday ticket earlier this year and cancelled the whole ball of wax last night.. They are offering new subscribers Sunday ticket for free with a much lower rate for the whole package, almost $900 for the whole year. When I called to try to get Sunday ticket for free, they wouldn't budge or even offer at a lower rate ( we're 2 weeks in and still no go), so I went to Verizon and I get Red Zone and save $600 for the year.. Now I just have to figure out where to watch those 6 or 7 games a ear not on local TV.....
The only reason to keep it was Sunday ticket and now that that has (edit I cancelled it) cancelled....buh bye

EDIT- And they kept me waiting 30 plus minutes going from level 1 customer service rep to level 2.......Seriously??

I Hear Ya! Here in NY, Cablevision doesn't offer us NFL* Only MLB, NHL, NBA. They don't want to deal with Dolan. But now that he sold Cable, Maybe they can work something out at what cost who knows?

The dishonor that has accrued to the NFL offices in Park Avenue is the same dishonor that the ESPN cabal has acquired in Bristol and Disney HQ. Both groups eschew ethics in the pursuit of profits, and both groups sacrifice honesty for a peculiar but very personal brand of "integrity". The people most responsible are the most senior executives, who lack the leadership skills to rectify the loss of a corporate moral compass.

Mortensen is, nevertheless, a victim of the above, though he lacks the intelligence to see it. He doubtlessly believes he is upholding his honor by protecting his source(s) and acceding to his employers' directives. However there is little to no honor in protecting corruption, or obeying those that deceive. The less seen and heard from him the better.

I hope everyone who cancels their subscription with ESPN says it's because of their coverage* of deflate gate.

How can we help this along? I'd love to be able to untangle ESPN from the tier of packaging that it is automatically linked to. Perhaps a call to my provider will help (though unlikely).

I have canceled too and told them because of their bias to the patriots. It is difficult to watch their games now unless they are playing locally, but I just can't support them. Maybe if enough of us do this they will change their ways and I can watch again.

keep in mind this is the same company (Disney) that recently threatened thei soon to be laid off workers with black balling them, if they did not stick around and train the foreign workers that Disney hired to replace him.

I can only hope we will soon see Christobal Montenegro replacing Mortenson

That's standard outsourcing practice. Even if those new workers are trained well, they will be gone in six months at which point Disney is f-ed. Dumb management FTW!

So all the insufferable goofs on I see on ESPN are going to be replaced with illegal immigrants working "off the books" for less than minimum wage? Even if they can barely speak English, they will probably be a significant upgrade over what I've been seeing lately on ESPN.

ESPN needs to die a quick death....I can not stand the way they penalize their employees for not being "PC" (see Curt Schilling).

Only the old timers with absolutely no tech savvy still use cable. You can use live stream to get whatever sports you want and there's absolutely nothing else I care to watch on cable that I can't get on Netflix or find for free on the internet.

Cable TV is a lumbering dinosaur like printed newspapers. This crappy "yellow journalism" is their last desperate effort to stay relevant.

FYI....there are a lot of "old timers" that are far more savvy than you are technology-wise....who do you think invented this stuff? :D

Besides, technology is over-rated....see Facebook and texting. You want to talk to me? Call me and try TALKING....because it's more efficient.

If you know someone in the boston area, get a slingbox and have it set up at their house.......

Maybe these Networks should trim down their expert panels to under a half dozen and maybe find a mediot the public can tolerate

I can't begin to tell you my hatred for this network.
And FoxSports1 is just as wretched. I need to take a shower after watching so much phony "personality" ooze out my screen hosted by the bimbo of the month club.

"Nevertheless, Disney Chairman Bob Iger is also talking about offering ESPN a la carte, as a live steaming channel.
And here’s where the scope and breadth of the bundled cable con really hits home.
Analysts believe that in order for ESPN to continue its current revenue stream, the streaming subscription monthly cost would need to be $30, or five times the $6 the sports network is currently charging."

LOL! It will be a cold day in hell before a give ESPN a single penny for that sh*tshow of a network.
