Bill Belichick: Patriots ‘Spent A Lot Of Time’ Preparing For Jaguars In Offseason

http://nesn.com/2015/09/bill-belich...t-of-time-preparing-for-jaguars-in-offseason/

Could it be that BB is cheating? This just doesn't seem right that they would work this hard that early. They must be up to something! (How else could they be winning so consistently?) I should right Roger a letter and tell him at once...see if he has anything from the past on them to derail their uber preparation. o_O

IMO we should play D the same we did against the Bills because of Bortles mobility. Let him throw. IMO Blount should get 30 carries. Force feed him until he gets into his rhythm. It's a good game to get him going.

Jags are only giving up 2.9 yards per carry, though.

"On any given Sunday", so much parity in the NFL and the possibility of a let down, I always worry until the game is over.. "It is more probable than not", that the Patriots will win this game..

An unfair advantage for many opposing teams is that our coaching group has been together for a while now, and compliment each other.

Expect to see a lot of Seattle style D in this game- HC Bradley was the DC for Seattle and so we should see a lot of aggressive one-gapping, downhill defense. I think we'll deal with this by utilizing trap blocking and riding lineman downfield and out of play. As in Seattle, they hate to give up big plays so they play over the top a lot which is tailor-made for Brady who is patient and disciplined enough to inflict death by a thousand short passes.

We are going to play deep and dare them to run. Probably bracket Allen Robison to take him out of the game as the #1 option. Does Bortles have the discipline to nickel and dime? We'll see.

Why are people expecting Blount to get 20+ carries in this game? The Jags have a pretty stout defensive front. Expect a pass heavy gameplan on offense. On defense, Robinson should demand safety help and I expect Collins and Hightower to frequently shoot the A and B gaps while we contain on the edges to force Bortles into quick decisions and, hopefully, a couple of turnovers.

The Jags actually aren't a bad little team. They have a lot of young talent and Allen Robinson had a coming out party or sorts yesterday. That said, I expect Belichick to scheme pretzels into Bortles' head and Brady to come out on fire. I wouldn't expect a 45-7 blowout, but it should be a comfortable win.

I will be out of the country in the Eastern Mediterranean and will miss the game so I am holding you personally responsible as our Jvill resident for the W.
There will be consequences!

I don't know if I'm all that lucky. The last game I went to was the Jags game in 2012 that ended up being close. But, before that, I DID attend the Dolphins blowout on MNF in 2010 so one never knows. Either way, I shall do my best.

I forgot I was also at the Dolphins game in Week 1 last season. :(

I don't know why, but this feels like sort of a trap game.

Same type of hard fought win, similar to the game against Oakland last season.

I could also see the Pats snooze for the first three quarters, get behind, and then realize they have to win the game like they did in Cleveland and Buffalo 2013.

But if I had to bet, I'm guessing bloodbath with Patriots winning by five scores, with Brady, Gronk and JE11 starting their bye week around 3PM on Sunday.

I could also see the Pats snooze for the first three quarter.
Until I see this team snooze (offensively) this year I am going to believe they won't. Brady looks like he wants to kill someone, that "4th qtr, need a game winning drive" look but for 4 quarters.

General thoughts.

Butler on Robinson all day - This is not just a match up thing as I think it would be good for Butler to play against Robinson 1v1 for the whole game pretty much. He has not gotten a close up look to the bigger outside WRs. Antonio Brown is 5'10 and Watkins/Harvin are not big either. This will be his first time matched up all day a 6'4 or so WR with this kind of talent. It will be a good experience and even though it might not be the most effective thing to do I think it is important we give Butler as much 1 v 1 as possible with as many good and different WRs as possible. It will give him experience and speed his developement along. If this was a game we had to win I would say double usually but this game i say put him on an island and let him learn.

Another good test for the OL - The Jags are not the Bills front but there is talent there. This will be another pass heavy game though i think 50+ times might be a bit much. I think we go more to the outside though and challenge their DEs to hold the edge and OLBs to make a tackle. More of a Lewis/White/Cadet game than a power Blount game IMO though I would like to see more of Blount to see if my suspicions on an injury are correct.

DL attacks again - Simple. Get after him. This is what we need our front to do. I want to see it back to back games. Not expect 8 sacks again. Just a lot of pressure.

More of the other weapons - I don't want to over look an opponent but this is not a team i think we need to play Gronk and Edelman 90% of the snaps to beat. I want to see more Amendola/Dobson/Chandler in the game play at least after the first half (when i assume we will have a lead).

Since when did Robinson became 6.4? He's closer to 6.2 and Sammy Watkins are 6.1. Robinson is more physical but slower then Watkins, but he's hands are much better.

I thought he was 6'4. Just checked ESPN says 6'3 NFL site says 6'3.

So i guess split the difference :p

He was 6' 2 5/16" at the combine so he probably is still that.

This looks like another 40 point game for the patriots, with lots of passing. The open question is how good we'll make their QB look. How many perfect passes will we be discussing?

We made Taylor look like crap until the last 1/8 of the game.

It took 7 sacks. It is our corners that makes the opposing corners look good.
