Hypocritical Ravens copy Pats' "ineligible" play (merged)

This play looks a little familiar.

Ridiculous! They did the exact same thing except had the 5th lineman outside the tackle box moving back instead of Vereen. Harbaugh really is pathetic.

WTF ? DID this actually happen ? I was told by Harbaugh himself that this had never happened before in the history of football ! And that it was illegal and the worst thing that ever happened since 1945...

I'm guessing that the Ravens using the same play that they cried about is getting the same amount of attention that The Bills got for illegally blowing that stupid train horn against the Patriots

If the Patriots do something that another team doesn't like, the sports world explodes. If any other team does the exact same thing, meh

The Ravens spend time and energy trying to be like the Patriots and what does it get them? 0-2. Sure that play worked, but what did they not do in order to put it in? We'll never know.

All I know is whiny and the rat birds are 0-2, and that's just fine with me. :D

Baltimore, Indy and Seattle haven't won a game since they lost to the Pats in their last game of 2014.

It's early Christmas.

Bill must have spent some time with Jonny Whinebaugh this off season and explained the rule book to him.

Where is our THANK YOU card in Mew England for inspiring Baltimore to think out of the box? Oh, I get it. Blame the other guy(s), whilst you do the same. (It's not original, clever, or becoming.) Perhaps, BB should sue them for playbook plagiarism (i.e. no references)? o_O

The last season and offseason has provided a couple of new idioms for us to use in the future. You have just added another.

To take a Mort
To whine like a Harbaugh
I took such a huge Mort that my Goodell started to hurt and I cried like a Harbaugh.
I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone get called a Pash-hole :p

Harbaugh proved what a whiny baby he is and he also proved that the strength of the play had nothing to do with Vereen. It has everything to do with the fact that the defense looks at 5 down lineman on the line of scrimmage without noticing the "Left Tackle" is actually a Tight End (and eligible receiver).

Their instinct is to not bother covering a Left Tackle, which is why Gillmore, just like Hoomanawanui, runs right down the seam untouched and uncovered.

I mean, seriously...... does anyone complaining about this play think the Right Outside Linebacker (who should have covered the Left-Set Tight End) saw Vereen way the heck on the other side of the field and adjusted his scheme? Of course not. He was seeing 5 down lineman and ignored them all in his pass coverage.

If Harbaugh and the Ravens use this play against Tomlin's Steelers, will a vortex of whininess suck up whatever stadium they are in?
It will if Tomlin's headset is still picking up Scott Zolak.

The ravens are just too funny. And ravens fans are out there trying to say it wasn't the same thing

I can't wait for someone to try to use this on us and Belichick's defense unceremoniously shuts it right the hell down.

Well Ravens fans have never been accused of intelligence.

The only thing that is different, and in fact the thing Harbaugh was complaining about, is that the Pats split our Vereen instead of a linemen and this was apparently "deceptive." I would argue it is, in fact, LESS deceptive because with the alignment they used vs the Raiders the defense has to look at the guy split out and realize he doesn't have an eligible number whereas with our play the friggin ref got on the loudspeaker and said "DONT COVER 34"

hahahaha!!!

Every now and then something happens to prove beyond any doubt that Belichick is light years ahead of all the supposedly great coaches in the NFL.

It took Baltimore 6 months to comprehend the idea of that play, and only after it happened to them. It's old news in Foxboro. They'll have come up with half a dozen new ideas by now, that they've holding in reserve for just the right moment... like the Edelman-Amendola TD pass, they were sitting on that play all season long, and broke it out in the AFC Championship Game when they could get max payoff.

It's just a fact that children imitate.

...which brings me to...

BB is working with the subtleties, as his opponents are learning the basics. In the football world, it is wise to imitate BB, but it is unwise to believe one knows what he knows because they might have coined a few techniques. ;)
