I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere. Apparently Dan Koppen feels that a relationship between a center and his QB is only really complete after the center has farted on the QB's hands.

The next step was Koppen passing gas on Brady’s hands as he was about to snap him the ball. He feels that’s what cemented their friendship. “I think it becomes really special when you’re able to fart on him and do all that stuff,” Koppen said. “That takes it to a whole new level.”

In contrast, Manning apparently thinks teabagging is necessary.

Dan could never eat Burrito's when he played here.....

Call me crazy but I'm thinking Andrews hasn't expressed his love for Tom to this degree yet.

Yeah, Koppen said he felt a year with Manning wasn't sufficient to get their relationship to that level.

Yeah, Peter King focused on that story in today's MMQB. While it shows how much research he did, I doubt that Myers is happy that this is the vignette that King chose to relate. I'm sure he'd like people to think of him as displaying a lot more insight than that into Brady and Manning...then again, maybe that's the high point of the book...:D

More from Meyers book, all that really matters to the stat king are those records (circa 2007)

He called his younger brother and asked him to relay a message to the Giants’ defensive leaders: If the Patriots were going to get into the end zone, he sure would appreciate if it happened on the ground. No touchdown passes, please.

“He said it jokingly, but maybe a little serious in the mix,” Eli Manning said. “I thought I would pass it on to Antonio Pierce.”

It was no joke.

Manning wanted that touchdown record to be enduring just as Dan Marino did when he threw forty-eight back in 1984, shattering the old record of 36 set by Y.A. Title that had stood since 1963. At least Marino’s record lasted twenty years. Manning’s was on the verge of being wiped out after just three years.

Pierce, the Giants middle linebacker, had created headlines that week by claiming Brady walks around “like he’s Prince Charles, like he’s the golden boy,” and complaining that Brady seemed indignant anytime a defensive player managed to lay their hands on him. The Giants did not like Brady. They wanted to knock him around. They were happy to give it their best shot to do Eli’s big brother a favor.
