Sorry Tune, you need to think a bit more long term here. We don't need others to beat the stinking green puke to win the AFCE. We can accomplish this ourselves as well as the Bills and Dolphins. If we are expecting to be in the fight for the bye (and who isn't), then Colts and their fraudulent schedule need to be the trarget, NOT the Jets. Time enough to take care of them., Besides the thought of IRSAY wandering the dismal streets of Indy after midnight desperately looking for a crack dealer is just too beautiful of an image to erase. But off course The meteor that whips out Indy isn't a bad image either. ;)
Colts are not winning more than 11 games if they win this one.
That could be the worst defense in the NFL.

LOL Even if they somehow do, they will implode as is always the case. I am not scared of either team. Neither team poses a threat.
Ah yes, because we all know things forever will be the same as they've always been.

...Of course it will backfire if the Jets somehow challenge us for AFCE but what are the chances of that.

We used to have a Smiley for "When Pigs Fly," which I would have used there.
Mods: whatever happened to all those Smileys anyway? :)

Their schedule scares the hell of me, Andy as well as their dome advantage. Besides I've seen enough early season turn arounds not to be worried. If the recent local one wasn't enough to convince you, just think about the two 1-2 starts by the BOTH the Packers and Seattle last year. Not to mention all the 1-3, 2=2 starts by successful NE teams in the past.

I grant you it is easy to look at the Colts first 2 games and not think that you are right and their QB is a horrible fraud, but we know that the last part isn't true. Luck IS that good, and at this point of his career he is is just as likely to carry his team to a 4 game win streak, as he his to throw 4 picks in a game.

Most of the time the hype precedes the experience and success. That's what's happened with Luck. Brady was fortunately that his hype took some time catching up. Luck is also saddled with a mediocre HC, who is more personality than skill, a perfectly horrible GM, and a Cartoon owner.

So in the end. I don't see the Jets winning 8 games, so what's your point. Tonight I happen to hate the Colts somewhat more than the contemptuous Jets and see them as the bigger threat to our ultimate goal

JMHO

This argument I hope will end up moot as I expect Indy to win tonight at home. But the nightmare scenario would be New Jersey coming to Foxboro full of confidence at 5-0 and pulling off an upset. Think about that. That's why I say DIVISION FIRST. Then we can start mulling byes, playoff match-ups, etc.

Division first, always. That's the first playoff advantage: a guaranteed home game.

After careful deliberation I regrettably have to root for the Colts :(

We want the Jets to lose since they are a division opponent. And logically we should want the Colts to make the playoffs, since they seem completely unable to beat the Pats... and that was before deflategate. Just imagine how motivated Brady and Co will be to demolish them in the playoffs.

Its not about the start, its about the talent. That isn't a terrible defense because of how they played last week, its a terrible defense because it has terrible players on it.

My point is that if we are worrying about losing HFA to the Colts, we must be expecting the Patriots to go in the tank.

I don't really care who loses tonight, I am happy with either one losing. I don't think either of these teams will be competing with us for playoff spots or seeding when all is said and done.

Not only the defense but this Colts team is putrid, except for Luck and they have some receivers, but their scheme is bad, their coaches are bad, Luck will need to carry this team 16 times during the regular season and more if they make the playoffs, and he is no Tom Brady.

Yeah. After thinking about it, I've changed my mind. My emotions want me to see the Colts embarrassed, but the sooner we build a cushion in the division, the better. Our guys can put enough hurt on Indy in October. Patience is a virtue.

Sorry Andy, you probably are right, BUT I just can't get that image of Irsay roaming the streets of Indianapolis (make that crawling the streets) in desperate search of a crack dealer (make that a meth dealer - that's much more Indy) to help assuage the pain of watching his team's year go down the tubes so early in the season. It's just too delicious.....and oh so just. I only wish I was there to snap the picture. ;)

Neither. Both can eat a ****.

The Jaguars are an improved team, and the Dolphins are probably going to be inconsistent all season long.

OT: I'll bet they are thankful they have just spent QB money on a DT. :D

Between Suh's and Wallace's contracts the Dolphins are going to have a nice little cap hit next year. Close to 39 million for two players. Wow.

I get that.
If its from the perspective of entertainment, I see your point.
I think the Jets will continue to be no threat to us as they have been, only now they will be professional about it for the 3 years before they start the search for the next HC of NYJ.

Well, since who we root for has absolutely no bearing on the game tonight, let's just sit back and enjoy whoever loses.

I disagree completely, especially at this point in the season. I don't like the idea of New Jersey at 2-0 and possibly building any kind of momentum, especially with that defense. Fitzpatrick is a mediocre QB, not a terrible one and they have reasonable weapons around him. Division first!

This is a great point. Indy, the anointed Super Bowl contenders, has a cakewalk schedule and an early loss could put media scrutiny on the coaching staff and team,(See Eagles, Cowboys, Seahawks etc...), as well as taking a chip out of their possible chances of home field advantage or a bye week during the playoffs. OTOH the Jets are a bit of an unknown commodity at the moment and getting a game up on them early in the season might turn out to be valuable by the end of the season.

So Sinkhole/Meteor it is.

I get where you're coming from but, after looking over their schedule and thinking about their team, I'm not sure how true that is:

Patriots
Texans (*2)
Panthers
Broncos
Falcons
Steelers
Dolphins
Saints

Given their defense, plenty of potential losses are on the Colts' schedule.

This is a very good point, and there is no horrible answer, just horrible, loathsome teams.

Tomorrow we Pats fans can all join hands and revel at the misery of tonight's loser, secure in the knowledge that tonight's "winner", is just a loser who doesn't know it yet.

I want this to be a scoreless TIE game so ESPN suffers too....

Great point Deus. I stand corrected. It will not be as easy for them as I originally thought. Thanks

I had looked at SOS charts but they are a little cheesy as they seem to compare last years record to this record etc...

You could well be right with your initial take, even though I'm disagreeing at the moment. We're all just guessing/analyzing here, and the AFCS is throwing the Titans and Jaguars at the Colts, which should be 4 phone-in wins right there. I think that lousy Colts defense will make more of those games competitive, but that's really more a product of the Colts stupidity in the offseason than it is of their schedule.
