Game Thoughts: Bills' Super Bowl Edition

  • Right now, the Pats are the best team in the AFC and #2 isn't anywhere close to them. It is a long season and a lot can happen as it goes along, but the Pats are the creme of the crop and the only teams I think that might be able to beat them in the playoffs are playing tonight. Again, it is way early.

I think the closest second is the Broncos. Their defense is amazing right now, and if their offense comes together (I know, not likely) that will be tough. Manning looked really good in the second half last week. We'll see. Unlike many people here, I never count that dude out, he is an amazing QB, and still sometimes has hot streaks.

Thanksgiving weekend should be a very interesting matchup between the two...

The Pats will be adjusting to Fletchers weaknesses with either a replacement or a change in duties. Is Swanson still on the PS? He always seemed to be around the ball in TC. Maybe he will develop enough to take Fletchers place by midseason?

I didn't think Manning looked really good in the second half. I think he looked really good on that final drive, but not the entire second half. The Broncos' offense scored 10 points in the second half.

I am watching Manning and he is going to be shot by midseason. Watch him throw the deep ball. He throws it like a shotput where he has to put his entire body into the throw. He is going to burn out that way by November. He was doing it last year too and he was toast the second half last year. I know they blamed a thigh injury, but he was already shot several games before the game he injured his thigh.

Yeah, I think you are probably right...I do think the Broncos offense is not their strong point right now: their defense is amazing though and will carry them to the playoffs if Peyton's bottom falls off.

Dax Swanson is a member of the PS.

We'ren 't they saying that about Buffalo 26 hours ago?

This will probably get more attention as the season wears on or a team loses a game.

With moving the extra point kick back, we've matched and/or exceeded the number of missed extra points after 2 weeks than we did the entire last season. There aren't too many kickers (imho) as good as Gostowski in this league and the rule should benefit the Patriots more than most teams (even those in domes).

Sooner or later a team is going to lose because of a missed extra point and we've seen more teams going for the 2 points (or so it seems). so, the rule change may be something the NFL got right (though you'll hear some complaining about it all too soon).

Broncos defense has proven itself...not saying they can beat us, just saying they are the second best team in the AFC!

Mark my words: at one point this season, someone involved with the NFL or ESPN will try to blame the Patriots for this rule change.

I think Bill Polian already did in the off-season, claiming the rule change was a blatant attempt to gear the rules in their favor by the Patriots because they have an advantage at kicker. I think it was a defensive reaction to all the claims that he had the rules changed while he was with the Colts to benefit Peyton Manning.

BB and his jedi mind tricks. Talking about wanting cameras placed on the goal line, but secretly implanted the idea of changing the extra/2-point rule.
