Week 2 post-game thread - Patriots 40, Bills 32

The 4th and 1 calls were atrocious and the reason this was close. Zero excuse for those two calls... especially when Brady is damn near unstoppable on QB sneaks.

In both cases, the Bills had stacked the line.. Just like on Blount's carry, later on, the Pats weren't going to get 1st down running it..

Well, there's always punting, but I guess we're too clever for conventional play calling.

Pats had a bad 4th quarter. There's no sugar coating it. But Amendola's catch allowed us to set up a FG that put us up by 8. You take those 3 points every time. If you go for it on 4th down and don't make it, that gives the other team a chance to beat you with a TD. And since we were up 5, a FG would have been out of the question for Buffalo.

The Pats definitely have some work to do but still came out with a very good result- road win against division foe. I'll take it and look forward to this team getting better as the season progresses.

Difference between Patriot Fans and Bills Fans. Bills fans walking away feeling optimistic that they hung in there and showed no quit (and made the end of the game in doubt...for all of 1 play). Some will probably blame the refs, but we'll excuse that as all fan bases have those (and only in a few cases is it actually true and this isn't one of them).

Patriot fans argue, whine, and debate about the finer points of what could have been done differently.

But it's understandable! :p We lose so infrequently that a slightly-less-than-ideal division road win gets dissected LIKE a loss. If it weren't for games like this, we'd barely ever have anything controversial to discuss.

Meanwhile, Miami and Buffalo both go down. C'mon, Jets! Lose tomorrow like you always do for us!

I recall one pass that Edelman probably should have caught and didn't, but even that wasn't egregious or anything. Unless I'm forgetting something, he otherwise caught everything that he could reasonably be expected to, and made a couple really nice grabs out of those. I'm not worried about that at all.[/QUOTE]

I won't hold the one against Edelman where he would have gotten his head taken off the safety as he came across the middle. However, Edelman did have at least 3 drops today.. Unfortunately, I watched the game via online stream so I can't remember exactly, though one was a short pass over the middle and one was on the sidelines..

It's the 3rd corner position that needs to be addressed. Brown did just find over there.

Agreed DaBruinz, what are your thoughts about our 3rd corner position? It's obviously the weakesst spot right now, would you think of going with Ryan next game or perhaps someone on the practice squad?

Well, It did look like Bill was chewing Josh's ear a bit there late in the 4th.. Found it interesting that McDaniels waved Brady away as Brady was walking over..

all done with totally legit footballs...Goondell is furiously digging his little hedgehog tunnel deeper into the Maine firmament...we'll probably see him next February on Moronhog Day, after Punxatawny Phil kicks his azz out of the burrow...what a complete and utter moron of intergalactic proportions....8 months of total idiocy and the LARCENY of our fundamental building blocks...and now this gutless, spineless worm of a human being is hiding like a peeping Tom perp in the lingerie department. I cannot express how utterly disappointed I am that this SCUM, this HUMAN EXCREMENT is STILL sitting in the position of authority in this league.

There's always Justin Coleman. Keep Tarrell Brown on the outside and try Ryan or Coleman in the slot.

I did not watch the game as I am still boycotting anything the league makes a dime on so take this with a grain of salt. Based on what I am reading here is there any chance Bill saw a game that was out of reach in September he used the 4th quarter as an extension of the preseason to try some unorthodox calls? Those are now on film and give other teams something else to think about so now the qb sneak is not just assumed. I find it difficult to believe a man with 6 rings suddenly forgot how to coach.

A win is a win. Could the Pats have played better? Yes but it's week 2 and I'd rather they have issues now and work them out than blow teams out of the water now and possibly struggle late in the season. This is good material for Belichick to use.

True, but nitpicking to improve is fine, but hand wringing (not that I'm accusing anyone) is a waste as BB will get it ironed out. Still, every fan has the right to enforce their higndsight vision on the real time decisions the coaches make :D.

Let's the jets feel like they are kings a little bit longer. They'll quickly regress to their mean...not the actual 8-8 mean, but their usual J-E-T-S self.

Im kind of worried about our fumble rate. Because if we have a bad year with fumbles EVERYONE will bring it up as evidence for us deflating over the past whatever years. We've have had 3 fumbles/2 lost in two weeks. Last season we had 13/4 lost. 2013 was tougher with over 20 but we however in the mid teens. Fumbles lost dont matter because thats a crap shoot.

So we need to tighten up or else we'll never hear the end of it, no matter if we go f.ucking undefeated.

Winning this game along with Dallas losing Romo and Bryant gives the Pats time to work on their weaknesses......

It's amazing how different the NFL looks from the end of preseason to now in terms of who's good .... Right now in the Afc it's the pats Broncos and steelers.....

I am a little late to the game here but 14 of Buffalos points came on the brady fumble and turning it over on downs the second time. We got 8 sacks today so I am assuming that the Bills O-Line is horrible or our D isn't as bad as we think it is. Still think this D is going to round into a decent unit.
