I'm Getting Excited About Dion Lewis

I'm high on both Gaffney and Lewis.

I want Gaffney to become a 3 down super star back just so all those haters can get even more angry with the Patriots! Oh those cheaters cheated again! Spirit of the rules! And then we can all laugh at them again.:D

I wanted the Pats to draft Lewis instead of Vereen. I watched a lot of Lewis in College and I love the kid. I hope he makes the team because I think he will be a stud. I posted about him shortly after he was signed. Very excited.

I still think the Pats carry 5 RB's somehow only because 3rd down is such an unknown...

- 1st and 2nd down: Blount, Gray
- 3rd down: Bolden, White, Lewis

I had Lewis rated better than Ridley, but not Vereen. I too hope that he regains his leg strength and
makes the 53. Blount & Bolden are near-locks, and White's status won't mean squat if he can't out-perform neither Gray not Gaffney.

I can see why.

Im glad he is here but he needs to hold onto the football.

No Cadet?

Well you really called @RayClay , I has Cadet picked as the guy over the summer but man Dion Lewis can play. Hopefully is here for years to come.

At least there was no Brady cold death stare at him this week.

Ill say it...this kid is going to be special here

The fumbles are the obvious X Factor. If he can get past them he's an upgrade over Vereen*.

* Although Vereen was a disappointment overall he had an incredible Super Bowl which means he gets a lifetime immunity from criticism.

He's not only stepped in as the new Faulk/Woodhead/Vereen, he is right now a legit weapon - among the league leaders in all purpose yards. Just work on that ball security and he will be our most productive RB since 2004 Dillon.

Yeah, I just couldn't stop watching those college highlight films. He's got to hold on, though. He's actually very strong, I think he out bench pressed lineman at Pitt. He had the ball in good position too, I have to think it's just focus and situational concentration.

Don't really see comparisons to woodhead, though. He's much more elusive IMO.

To be honest, he's not as good a receiver as White, but he is just a threat to go to the house any time he touches it IMO.

I'm not going to be happy with Lewis in the backfield until he has a game without a fumble. It also looked like the Brady strip sack came from a Lewis block gone wrong. I'd rather have Blount or Gray back there if it means keeping Brady upright.

The Brady strip sack was all on Nate Solder (well a little bit on Brady too).

Check out Lewis vs. McCoy at combine/pro day. Lewis is the better athlete. Still has to stay healthy and fumble free though.

Dillon had 1700 yards from scrimmage.

If Lewis comes near that he will be the greatest future deal signing in NFL history.

Lewis has had 2 straight 100+ yard weeks as our combo back. He is elusive at the pro level and has shown the ability to make plays. Sure he might not be able to be a lead back at this level given his build, but I see him as a big part of our offense going forward.

He appears comparable to Vereen and Woodhead. Appears to have more power running than Woodhead though. Vereen's route running was incredible, so I'd say he's in the middle somewhere between those two which is actually pretty good considering we had to spend a 2nd round pick on Vereen.
