Why Tyrod Taylor is Turning Heads (ESPN)

So what happens when the Pats dominate Taylor the way they dominated Tebow? What's going to be the excuse used by Bills fans? Deflated footballs? They brought Bryce Brown in for a visit today two days before the game, probably stole his playbook.

Exactly. Such a moronic discussion. Tom Brady wasn't Tom Brady until..geez I don't know..won a Super Bowl?

And we are discussing a guy who didn't come off his first read. Ever? Right. Good talk.

We will see. I think he might be. He's faster and throws more accurately, but hes no where as big.

Taylor has 397 career passing yards in 5 years. Their is no getting around it...it's because he is not good. Throw in a gimpy McCoy and this has all the makings of a disaster for the Bills.

Regardless...your posts are informative and insightful. I appreciate you coming here to talk football between 2 rivals. Let's hope for an injury free game without Referee shenanigans to boot.

Patriots game plan is likely to be forcing this kid to throw from the pocket. Watching the results will be illuminating, for both Taylor as a QB and the Patriots DBs.

Yeah, I agree. Think they'll try to keep him contained and force him to move beyond his first read. If he's able to do so, it could be a long game. I don't think it will be but I could see it happening. Even Geno Smith has had good games against the Pats D. However, I am confident that Pats offense will handle Buffalo fine either way.

Strikes me as a SB49 redux. Keep Tyrod in the pocket, defend against the run and force them to make plays.

Yup. And they have Marshaw...no wait they don't. They have Russell Wil...oh wait no they don't. They have Cam Chanc..nope..him neither.

Buffalo. Decent team. May even win. They ain't Seattle.

Their is only so much the Bills can do on offense. Keeping Taylor in the pocket does not play to his strength. Show him different looks in the secondary and stop the run. As Deus said...

I have to admit, Taylor looked a lot better than I had first thought. But it is one game, and leave it to the Bills fans to get prematurely excited.

Worth noting:

Tyrod Taylor's first game as a Bill
14/19, 195, 1 TD, 0 INT, 123.8 RAT

Ryan Fitzpatrick's first game
19/30, 310, 3 TDs, 1 INT, 117.4 RAT

EJ Manuel's first game
18/27, 150, 2 TDs, 0 INT, 105.5 RAT

It's why the team always does well early, then falters later on. They get so amped up over week 2 or 3 games, then fall apart when things get tough. And every team faces challenges during the season. But this Patriots team, win or lose, knows they have to work hard every week, whereas winning this game for the Bills might be the worst thing for them because they'll have nothing left to play for the rest of the season.

Last time they beat us early in the season in week 3, they got out to a 5-2 start, and finished 10-6. Oops, I mean 6-10. Totally imploded. The season doesn't end on Sunday, one way or another. Patriots fans know that, having won a Super Bowl after starting the season with a 31-0 loss (to the Bills ironically), as well as last season's KC debacle to go 2-2.

But keep treating this like Super Bowl Sunday Bills fans. That's why your team always loses in the end.

Luckily for us, Tyrod Taylor is nowhere near as good as Kaepernick.

kap sucks, his mobility is what hurt us.
mobile qb's give bill a lot of trouble..he'll try to contain tyrod, only problem is our corners arent good enough to cover watkins and co.

this is no cake walk. brady has to be on his A game otherwise we will lose.

wonderful post.

If he didn't share his first name with a car part I'd be more convinced.

This is going to be a tough game. Rex seems to always play the Pats tough. The Bills have a top defense. They have a lot of weapons on both sides of the Ball.

He doesn't ALWAYS play the Pats tough, most of the time he seems to. That 45-3 game was pretty sweet. I hope the Pats handle them on Sunday.

I'll say this about TT.
1)He has had multiple years just to absorb the NFL passing game. Too many rookie.inexperienced QBs coming from QB run moderate to heavy programs being quickly thrown into the NFL passing game is not, IMHO, a recipe for success for him or the team.
2) He was given a huge and first opportunity -- credit him for taking very good advantage of it.
3) He played within himself along with what was being asked of him. Not many awful decisions or unnecessary risks. Managed the game fairly well.
4) His second game may be against the champs and perennial division winners but the Patriot secondary has some huge questions along with a DL pass rush/contain that currently is ???. Better his second game is against that versus an established and excellent rush and secondary. (side note: I'm that concerned there is going to be some pass defense coverage/QB pressuring ugliness before we see more consistent play mid+ seasion).

With that said he has done very well in one game. Let's make sure we hear that, one game. One game against what appears to be a weak defense. Against a defense that inexplicably, IMHO, was giving him clear throwing lanes. Where the Bills offense was running well on the ground yet still had something like 8 or 9 possessions with 5 plays or less, only a single drive inside the 20, and a 5 of 13 third down conversion rate.
Yes he did good against the Colts. Yes he may be seeing a good starter in the making that can bring home the win against the Patriots. But this kind of hype after this one game? ESPN type stunt at its finest....

When Tyrod Taylor calls, he doesn't leave messages. He leaves warnings.

Greatest QB ever.......... since Ej Manuel

If he was on a Bills level team in any other division other than a Patriots division this article doesn't get written. Mariota had 4 TDs and yet Tyrod is the story. Why is that? Propaganda and an incredible thirst for something, anything to avoid discussing the Pats. It's disgusting and further proof of the general media bias now in effect.

Who knows guy could be good - honestly seems like a nice guy in that interview... But we all know ESPN and the rest of the NFL are just hoping this guy is good. All these fans are just sick of the Patriots.. That's cool. But I am not going hate on some unknown kid just because ESPN hypes him up. Even a broken clock is right twice a day..
