All things Peyton Manning?

I'll confess that I thought last night might be one of those games that people remember as the definitive break between eras--really thought KC might thump the Broncos.

Didn't happen obviously, but a team with tougher stuff the Chiefs might have gotten it done.
The Pats don't lose that game last night.

Why not step forward and throw it away?

I honestly don't think he could have in this situation. If you disagree and think so that is fine and i would agree if he COULD he should have. I just personally don't see that though.

He was still in the pocket and would have taken an intentional grounding call. QB's get sacked. It happens to the best of them.

In PMs last 10 games as a Bronco

375 throws, 61% comp 14 TD 10 INT 84.5 rating.

There is nothing left on his throws, you can see him throw everything he has into those throws and they still take awhile to get there...

He was lucky another ball wasn't picked off when he over threw his RB and a chief linebacker dropped an easy pick.. thE Broncos ended up scoring on that drive

Was disappointed in how that game ended, but at least I had the Broncos D on my fantasy team

DEN has a good D. They will need it this year.

I bet Kubiak goes back to his same offense next week which is a bad fit for Manning and isn't helping the running game either.

I still think Manning is done. He will show flashes of brilliance like last night, but be wildly inconsistent in that way. But if they keep running Kubiak's offense and not let Manning run his offense, he will be one of the worst QBs in the league. He only looked remotely comfortable when they let him get in the shotgun play after play and run the no huddle.

That's what I thought last year when their defense started out playing nearly as well as they are this year. But we all know how their D played down the stretch. They have essentially the same defense as in 2014.

As far as Manning, people are ignoring the fact that KC is a team he knows very well and he has always performed well against them. Even so, his numbers were below his usual stats that he puts up against KC.

He's going to own KC and Oakland, and probably split with SD. Other teams will give him problems, especially on the road, and especially in November, December, and January.

Yeah, that pass should have ended the game. It reminded me of the dropped TD by Shockey in the 2002 playoff game against the 49ers. They were already up by 21 so he laughed it off thinking it was only going to change the final margin a few ticks. Something about the way KC reacted gave me that same laissez faire feeling.

Of course the tying drive started with a dropped pick as well, this one even easier.

Regarding Manning's motion, my wife even commented after a replay that allowed us to see Peyton's face how much effort it took to just throw the ball 15 yards downfield. Not only was he putting his body into it, he was clearly grimacing as if he were heaving a bowling ball.

You know it doesnt make us pats fans look all that great when we have to dedicate an entire thread to making peyton look bad AFTER already dominating him throughout his career.

Some people seem to have the strangest hang up with regards to manning and its never made a whole lot of sense to me..

If you hate the way the media strokes him then fine hate the media, we already do anyway, but finding glee and happiness in his failures and looking for every excuse in the book to downplay his success is borderline disburbing and obsessive IMO

We can all see he has declined, but last night proved he's still far from dead like everybody apparently hopes for him to be..

Maybe im just in the minority, idk

I agree (says the hypocrite who has a comment directly above yours). :)

Yes. Specifically last year Ware slowed down considerably as the year went on.

Riddle me this, Batpersons,
How does Andy Reid keep his job?
Seriously?

Since starting 9-0 in 2013 they have gone 12-14 including that disastrous playoff game vs the Colts.

Von Miller did too. Not as bad as Ware did. The Cowboys cut Ware because he wore down over the season his last year in Dallas.

The Wade Phillips defense is going to wear down a lot of older players because it is so aggressive.

Peyton Manning is Lucky Social Media Wasn't Around in 1996 When He Allegedly Sat on a Female Trainer's Face

Here’s an old story about Peyton Manning – clean cut Peyton Manning! – from his days at Tennessee. One thing to remember: this happened in 1996, when Manning, then a junior, was the star QB for the Volunteers. These were the very early days of the internet. Surely you remember: AOL dial-up, Netscape, chat rooms.

Social media wasn’t a glimmer in the eye of Silicon Valley.

The setting: The Vols training room. Peyton wrote in his book, Manning: A Father, His Sons, a Football Legacy, a “track athlete” made a remark, and he mooned the athlete. He “didn’t think the [female] trainer would see” but when she did, “it seemed like something she’d have laughed at, considering” the locker room environment.

“Crude maybe, but harmless,” were his words.

(FSU fans may argue that quote applies to Winston’s explicit comment, except that Manning hadn’t been investigated for rape.)

Manning, for whatever reason, also added in the book that the trainer had a “vulgar mouth.”

The trainer, however, told a different version of events in a court filing:

"...she was examining Manning to see why Manning was having pain in one of his feet and was crouched behind him when “entirely unprovoked, Peyton Manning decided to pull down his shorts and sit on Dr. Naughright’s head and face.”

As Naughright described it in a deposition entered into the court record: “It was the gluteus maximus, the rectum, the testicles and the area in between the testicles. And all that was on my face when I pushed him up. … To get leverage, I took my head out to push him up and off.”

Before you downplay it as a he said/she said, let the record show that the track athlete Manning claimed to have mooned wrote the QB a letter in 2002 saying, “you might as well maintain some dignity and admit what happened … do the right thing here.”

Within hours of the incident, the trainer reported it to the Sexual Assault Crisis Center in Knoxville. She reached a settlement with the University in 1997 and left Knoxville.

Why is any of this relevant? In 2001, she was the program director of the Athletic Training Educational Program at Florida Southern College. In 2002, Manning’s book came out and the “vulgar” label hit the trainer. She lost her job as the program director.

Manning settled out of court with the trainer in 2003. She came after Manning again in 2005 after he violated the settlement by talking to ESPN about it.

In 1996, this story doesn’t get out. Even in 2002 the court filing got some attention, but nothing like it would have in 2014.

Honestly, considering what happened there last year, I'm happy for any development that minimizes our chances of playing in KC in January.

Yes. Specifically last year Ware slowed down considerably as the year went on.

A lot of their defenders did. Miller and Talib tend to diminish as the season goes on as well. That's why I'm not worried about them.

GB will expose them soon enough.
