Dump on me all you want, I think Krafty is a little smarter than he's given credit for

That's actually sarcasm. You see, if he openly announced he was working behind the scenes, then it would be out in the open.
What I'm saying is of all the times Bob has let us done vs Goodell why do you think he's running a inglorious basterds scheme?

Because Goodell is corrupt and not just in the bag for the Jets, but totally fronting for a cadre of loser owners now too.
If you are not on Kraft's payroll, you should be . You do a much better job of explaining his actions than he or his PR department. I don't see any mythical master plan behind the donation when you consider this was one of late wife's causes. Just like there is no secret master plan to removing Goodell' I think Kraft's ultimate goal is being elected to the Football Hall of Fame. Sacrificing the best interests of his team and its fans to curry favor may be in his mind a necessary evil to achieve his goal .

It's not a movie.

Politics is lining up votes. He was trying to work within the league, then Goodell screwed Brady on appeal and he said he was wrong to put his faith in the league. that's actually something he would never say, but the league is so obviously corrupt now, it seems light.

Things aren't easy like in the movies, they aren't dramatic spy capers, it's just a bunch of rich old a holes trying to protect one source of their riches and once they decide that goodell is absolutely threatening that money, they'll get rid of him. For now, all but a few teams think they can't beat the patriots ever on an even playing field, so they support the corruption.

By the way, did you notice that Goodell has been forced to accept that he might have to give up some power over discipline? That's a big step. Who knows how long it will take? Guys that make 44 million a year don't go away easy.

He's getting pressure from somewhere.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said he is open to changing his role in the league's process for player discipline, admitting that it has "become extremely time-consuming."

How would he have imposed a PR cost on the league?

By saying that the penalty was completely unfair, the Patriots were completely innocent, some of the things the league had said were clearly untrue, if everybody in the league was acting honestly and without malice then some of them were extremely incompetent, and that he was appealing the discipline on those grounds, even though the hearing officer would be the same as the authority that already imposed the discipline, because if the discipline was upheld it would mean that the league had abandoned integrity, and he has to maintain faith that at the moment of truth it will decide to do the fair, honorable, and correct thing.

There's no doubt he's a better business man than me, but he's still foolish if he thinks his partners around the NFL respect him. Some of the smartest people I have ever known are also the dumbest in some ways.

It's called "being human".

Humans make mistakes. Some own up to it, and some don't.

Kraft is spineless.
There is no master plan.
Kraft didn't want to get kicked out of the top tier of owners and be a renegade so he allowed his team to be screwed.

All this action confirms is money wasn't an issue preventing the Patriots from appealing the unjust punishment in Federal court.

The Patriots need that first round pick.

Well, I don't think he would want everything he does explained. I think he's pretty damned embarrassed by the whole situation.

Part of that embarrassment he caused, but the situation itself is absurd and i don't think anyone could have predicted it, except people on messageboards, I guess.

Who gives a **** if they respect him? He has a long term mission to remove goodell [in my opinion] and he is a long term thinker.

He bought a ****ty run down race track, then a piece of crap bankrupt stadium just so 10 years later, he could force an owner trying to buy out the stadium lease and move to St Louis, to sell him the team because he was fckin cornered and had no choice.

10 years.

From everything I can see, he's not trying to bring down Goodell. He's trying to lay waste to the advisors around him.

And some people are ruled by logic and therefore are caught off guard by things that are ridiculous. I think Kraft felt goodell was a yes man who owed him big time for doing all his work for him [CBA, media contracts]. I imagine, having the commish in your back pocket and being the most influential owner in sports had an appeal to Kraft, he's ambitious.

I think he was being totally honest when he said he expected an apology from the league.

He got pantsed, he got hosed. Stabbed in the back.

I don't recall any biased discipline on the Pats in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 or 2014, before this that would lead someone to expect this. We got screwed in 2007 by the Jets and the commish, no doubt.

Like I said, guys that make 44 million are not easy to depose. as much of a donkey as he seems to be, he seems to have corporate survival instincts. Unfortunately, he's using us to appease loser owners IMO.

As someone here said, Making him say he's willing to give up some powers is a first step in corporate deballing. that's on the record and linked in a post above.

Why do you say underlings? I haven't seen anything about that.

C'mon, Ray, it's patently obvious.

Since the Goodell arbitration, Kraft has been seen at the owner's meetings hugging Goodell, and on a public sidewalk and outdoor restaurant walking and talking with him and fans.

Moreso, Kraft has not attacked Goodell in statements - - he HAS attacked "the lawyers in the room" (several times). Ray, it's obvious. All you have to do is read the tea leaves.

Look, for the most part, I'm with you in Kraft's corner (and have been taking the same hits from the crowd). I just think you are wrong regarding Goodell. It's the Pash's, Nash's, Kensil's, Vincent's, etc. that Kraft wants to eliminate, not his buddy Roger. I think it is a major weakness of Kraft to have so much loyalty to Goodell as some sort of friend. He should see him for what he is.

I'll believe Kraft is out to get Goodell fired when that happens.

First you claim " it's not like a movie, " then you proceed to tell us how it's all a top secret plan. Lmao. I expect Tom Cruise to give us all another truly sh.tty acting performance as BOB Kraft when this thriller comes out.

So explain to us Ray why the commissioner is not enforcing the league rules against making unfounded accusations about a franchise when it's happening almost daily to the Patriots?

The attacks on " the lawyers" around Goodell but not Goodell directly.

Other than you, of course as you are clearly so much smarter than the "underlings" here.

I think he'd like to get rid of them all, but i really doubt, if he's trying to undermine goodell, that he would call him out by name. "The league" is goodell without saying it.

Politicians are never out to get anyone. they just want to remove the chair from under their feet.

You really expect them to say what they mean for public consumption?

I have actually taken crap for defending Kraft but to Ray anyone who doesn't accept his theory that Kraft is secretly implementing his master plan to remove Goodell is a dope.

No doubt Kraft is a smart man but he completely dropped the ball in controlling the NFL front office. Goodell works for the owners and Kraft should have seen after Rice fiasco that changes needed to be made. The root of the problem is that Goodell has surrounded himself with sycophants and yes men that have personal agendas. There was an opportunity to clean house after Ray Rice and Kraft did nothing. Anything that Kraft tries to do now will not be taken seriously and viewed as sour grapes by the other owners.

He made his bed.
