Dump on me all you want, I think Krafty is a little smarter than he's given credit for

I never thought the day would come where posting on Patsfans that I support our owner who has brought a type of success all but a few teams in the NFL could even dream about let alone the woebegone team I started rooting for in 1985 would be considered controversial. But here we are.

I think Kraft thought he did the right thing and I'm glad he's our owner. His big mistake was backing Goodell through Ray Rice, not capitulating to the lost draft pick considering that the options for recourse he had would have been, by and large, symbolic or Pyrrhic at best.

Obviously Kraft has worked some incredible deals internationally with owners on a one-on-one basis...very high level stuff..."without lawyers". But he fooked up...he sided with the NFL. It was a colossal mistake. We as fans lost some respect for Kraft...and in many of our eyes he will never be forgiven.

The day Goodell upheld the suspension...that changed everything IMO. He will wait....and be patient...and then make his move.

I don't doubt that he's smart. He just clearly doesn't give a **** about his team, coach or QB if doing right by them conflicts in any way with helping out his billionaire buddies. I have a problem with his priorities, not his intelligence.

Do you really think wagging his **** at Goodell then expecting a positive result in arbitration would have been courageous? Please explain why.

The Straw Man That Would Not Die is back again!

Folks did not say that. You keep doing so.

Folks DID say that Kraft exercising his right of appeal, as other owners have done, would have disarmed the myriad media critics citing Kraft's craven cave in as tacit admission of Brady's guilt.

They were right.

WOOOSSSHHH! Is the sound of this point flashing over your head. Again & again. Groundhog Day.

Is it that unbelieveable that Kraft knew that appealing Goodell's decision to Goodell would go nowhere and that giving in might by some leniency for Brady?

The idea that he gave in because he wanted to make everyone like him makes no sense given his livid response to the initial Brady decision. If he cared more about his owner pals than anything else he wouldn't have gone on live TV and said that trusting the NFL was the wrong choice...

Do you think expecting a positive result in arbitration was wise? Apparently not appealing the penalty has hurt the team unnecessarily as the picks have been lost for no reason.

Along with giving the haters ammo to say that "Kraft gave in because he knows Brady is guilty", Kraft also all but eliminated any other recourse to get the picks and money back. If Kraft had appealed the decision, as futile as it would have been, he could then take the league to court. The way things stand now, if Kraft wanted to sue the NFL, the court would probably not even look at it. They will say"you had a recourse in appeal process. You chose not to go that route. There is nothing we can do for you now." If he had appealed, he could then try to show the court the "unfairness" of the process. Now, IMO he is SOL.

I agree with the sentiment not that any going to court was/is viable.

No idea how people still think Bob is secretly removing Goody behind the scenes. Only way any Kraft does that happens is if Johnathan takes over.

Just to throw this out there, having a bunch of money does not preclude you from being foolish and dishonest, note Goodell and Wells.

$0.5M more than Goodell's stupid fine of the Pats and on an issue that made Goodell look like pond scum.
Kraft isn't done kicking Goodell in the nuts, he's just more classy about it and rich.

As I said, Kraft was acclaimed as the most influential owner in sports as recently as 2014 [fact check]. Goodell called him away from his sick wife, to settle the CBA which Goodell completely ****ed up. He did. All the very lucrative media contracts they'd all [especially ESPN] would love to get out of now - negotiated by Kraft.

When it comes to Goodell, he expected unconditional thanks, for helping the league and making him look good [though he was a moron]

Instead, he gets stabbed in the back.

Now, I know some people think businessmen that are wimps just amass 4.5 billion dollars by accident, but i don't think it's true [if it is, tell me how to do it]

I think, having propped up this dodo, who was the commissioner, after all, Kraft expected thanks and recognition, instead of a sh*t covered shank in the back.

He is human, after all. He made a mistake.

He sided with the commissioner of the NFL. Not illogical for an owner who enjoyed having power within that organization.

Yeah he messed up because the commissioner was insane.

When you say he sided with the NFL, I'm confused. He is an owner of an NFL team, after all. He would be taking sides against himself otherwise.

Nice people can also be spineless. It's not that complicated You can be a good and spineless owner. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Do you think there are a lot [not heirs] of spineless multibillionaires? Seriously, how would that happen?

No idea how people still think Bob is secretly removing Goody behind the scenes. Only way any Kraft does that happens is if Johnathan takes over.

Would you prefer that he openly announce that he's working secretly behind the scenes?

So, if he appealed and lost, they would be lost for a reason?

He dropped trow for Goodell instead of taking a stand for Brady and the team...like he eventually did...dig?

Sorry. why can't he take them to court now? Anytime he wants to try to eliminate the anti trust exemption or the salary cap, he can take the league to court. what am I missing?
