But sooner or later the rational media

Being Irish, I have no idea who this Van Natta dude is, and can't comment on his journalistic integrity.

However, using a report he made about malpractice at The News of the World as an example of how he's a crank who has no sources etc is a bit tenuous seeing as The News of the World went out of circulation, despite having 7.5mil readers, after 168 years due to serious malpractice. It led to a lot of arrests and convictions.

"PatsWickedPissah, post: 4338463, member: 3212"] Thanks for the rousing endorsement, PWP ;)

Up to now it certainly can be viewed as moronic....or worse. Obviously I'm hoping for a change.

I,'m not so sure you can ascribe his behavior as strictly being about the money. I know it looks that way, but there can other reasons for his actions (none of which were correct)

As far as the new area. I remember there being a big stink about season ticket holders losing their seats when it was first announced, but everything I've seen about that area, so far, is that "everyone" seems to like it. It might just be selective propaganda, but you'd know better since you get to go the games, Whats the scoop?

I,'ve never met him personally, but up until May of this year, I thought he was the best owner of a Boston sports team, this city ever had. Even though I hated him not taking on the league in 2007, I eventually came to grips with it, as him "taking one for the team". What's happened since my has turned me around. I had hoped his post appeal statement, signified he understood that this was war.

More attacks will be coming as this thread explained. What he does or doesn't do will go a long way in determining how I wind up feeling about him. Right now I would put myself in the "terribly disappointed but hopeful" category. I really hope that over the next few months I don't wind up in your category. the "Fu$ck him and I hope he dies" group. ;)

Heh! :)
I'm just terribly disappointed & wicked pissed. Not hopeful.

I'd forgiven him for 2007 too as a 1st mistake but have since changed my view because he learned nothing

Not going to any games this year, first ever because no direct $ for Kraft & the 31 from me.
I'm sure Biff & Muffy love pissing away extra thousand$ for "access" to Yuppie heaven.

I think at this point, this only helps the pats........the only guy's head the pats won't be in is chip kelly

the rest of them will all be wasting time looking over their shoulder while chip kelly tries to figure out how to start the next play before the first one is over

I wondered what it would be today, and now I see that it's TWO new stories.

This will be a daily event, people. Every single day. It's been so far.

With a reach of 93 million people, you can be assured that 90% of them in the first 10 seconds of having ESPN on hear," New details on alleged Patriots cheating." and it immediately becomes branded on their brains.

Thats the freaking problem. Everyone is too busy and too lazy to take the time to dig in and use their brains to think.

Most people aren't too busy to stay informed. They just don't care to get the story right. They want the allegations to be true, so the allegations are true. Confirmation bias is very, very strong.

Oh more rehashing of deflate-gate. Gee, I have to explain the 4th grader science project about the ideal gas law to people who can't access you tube and their 1,000 or so links to experiments proving the ideal gas law affects <gasp> air in footballs. Good heavens, I'm scared. Hold me supafly.:)

I love how he didn't mention that literally a third of the coaches in the league came out last week and SPECIFICALLY said that they had never experienced any communication problems in Foxboro. This was of course in response to Mike Tomlin's tantrum but it effectively discredited one of THE MAJOR allegations of his article that said that all teams and coaches believe that the Pats fu.ck around with the communication. THIS IS A FACT. But no, apparently all these coaches coming out publicly on the record don't count, only these new unnamed sources do.

While I agree with your attempt to make light of the situation, that hasn't exactly worked out very well throughout this whole ordeal, and the continuation of daily accusations which are separate from deflategate are a shame to see.

It really does take away from the real focus, which should be on the game of football, and the effort shown by both the players and coaches in their weekly preparation/execution.

These sources don't care about getting their information correct. They only care about spreading false rumors in an attempt to gain headlines and viewers.

Think about it---obviously, we're going to have many more of these kinds of stories published this season, as this becomes folklore among anyone involved in the NFL on any level whatsoever. Every assistant coach or low level intern who's worked in the league in the past 15 years (and their mother) is going to have a good "Patriots story" as it relates to giving out warm Gatorade or filtering through trash cans.

I would guess that a good amount of these stories are like that old game of "telephone," where a small truth or possibility is then changed a hundred times over as it's handed down throughout the chain.

espn and the rest of the sports media knows they can just makeup a story and have some "anonymous" sources back it up. This weird thing from a former official is a great example; haters gonna hate

It doesn't matter, they just go with whatever the narrative is pushing

Yes--just look at how many of the ESPN stories have actually been proven to be incorrect lately. From the "11/12" story to the suggestion that it was a Pats employee who introduced the non-approved ball onto the field, there has to have been a good 1/2 dozen or more just in 2015 alone pertaining to this topic.

The original accusations are quickly gobbled up, and yet the truth gets sifted through in the following days/weeks/months. Terrible examples of "journalism." They are actually the National Enquirer of sports reporting.

And in this case it is actually a story that was rebuked so harshly and quickly that Kelly Naqui has literally never been heard from since. He's a disaffected fired official whose son works for the Colts and who lied about how often he worked NE games to the tune of saying it was five times as many as it actually was, yet ******s like Bob Kravitz run with it as though it were actually news and the gospel truth.

The Patriots are one of the top three sports franchises on the world in terms of value at 3.2 billion dollars and they need to start using that to push back instead of simply sitting there and taking it. Other than Mike Reiss the Patriots should treat ESPN personnel as persona non grata and make life absolutely miserable for them whenever the cone to Foxborough. They should give them their own parking spaces as far from the stadium as they can get. They should search them every time they both enter and leave the premises. They should not make anyone available for comment or interview, and if the league requires it then they should instruct them to Belichick them. They should assign individual security for each of them who never leave their sides and hover over then every second? And if they provide food or drink for media then they should provide ESPN'S separately and give them really foul warm water and month old donuts. They should also give them their own bathroom and make it one that is never cleaned. Basically they should make them as miserable as possible at every turn and continue it for as long as the harassment lasts and then some. They have definitely earned it.

His original story went nowhere. Now he wants to double down? Let him, a lot of former players, coaches, and analysts came out in support of the Pats or at least said the story was BS.

Not even ten years from now everything entertainment will go through the internet. The cable subscription will be a thing of the past and ESPN along with it. New England will still be playing football. Displaying trophies. Raising banners. ESPN will be forgotten and nobody will miss it.

I agree that ESPN has been biased and rather unfair to the pats but I doubt the Patriots would pull a move like blackballing them because its basically trying to make them right better stories about the Pats and that will just make the Patriots look bad. These are haters and ESPN is just TMZ, they don't care if a story is true they just want views and clicks.

Van Natta saying that he and Wickersham are working more angles is a public request for more "dirt" on the Patriots. If you tell him a story, he will print it without attribution. Since he is reporting that you told him something (not that something actually happened), his reporting is accurate as far as that goes, and he apparently has no need to substantiate that any of these allegations did in fact happen.

Pretty cynical way to make a living. By the way, he's incredibly thin-skinned which leads me to believe that he's taken the criticism directed his way very personally, fueling his motivation to defame the Patriots and get even with their fans.

I agree that they won't do it I just wish they would. Many of the ESPN personnel believe they are royalty and expect to be treated as such, I think they are scum and would love to see them treated as such. They should build them an old style restroom with a trough and make it for male and female alike.
