@PatsFanSince74, if you change your signature to "one more for the middle finger" that would be more appropriate based on the current mood with team and fans ;)

Isn't the fact that everyone has been looking out but never caught them proof the Patriots didn't do anything shady?
Not when it's 31/32 against 1 (or us).

the narrative will be the predictable and often used, "Where there's smoke there's fire." People will assume anonymous resources are truth tellers when there's no documented evidence of a wrong doing. Essentially, pile on time for publicity.

I agree with PFK that the Patriots need to go on the offensive and I would take it one step further to start airing dirty laundry of other teams and give us some insight into the political battlefield with a behind-the-scenes view. Kraft might care about 5-10% of his business, but what happens if that is also felt across the board to other teams? Will Jerry Jones enjoy a 10%/$400m hit to his net worth for the Cowboys?

Time for Kraft to let these guys understand they have more (collectively) to lose than he does.

Apparently he has an interesting history with nytimes

People at the Sewer York Crimes with an agenda and telling lies?

I hope you're not holding your breath. Kraft has made it quite clear that the only thing that matter to him is "the shield." His franchise, it's coaches, players. employees, and fans take a back seat to that.

The brand is already damaged beyond repair, and he doesn't give a ****. Ratings are up and the money's rolling in. That's all that matters.

Actually, after the Optum Club thing, I think the only thing that matters to him is the mighty dollar.

Ive given up on the krafts doing anything but talk, and they don't even do much of that. I saw a headline recently that said that since framgate the pats revinue has gone up. If thats the case BOB won't do or say anything because hes all about the money.

The New England Patriots' worth increased nearly a quarter last year - and the rise is thanks to Deflategate.New figures from Forbes reveal that the football team are now worth $3.2 billion, up 23 percent from $2.6 billion last year. The scandal that damaged the legacy of quarterback Tom Brady and the Patriots has done nothing to dent the team’s financial success.
In fact Forbes said that it kept the Patriots ‘front and center of the sports news cycle’ - and could have helped make them even more profitable.

I don't get it, the first articles had no evidence, just anonymous tin foil hatters claiming something must have happened no matter how impossible.

I guess people find that stuff convincing.

I think the Patriots should just ignore this ****. Tabloid trash is tabloid trash. I don't want Kraft responding to every hysterical news article.

With a reach of 93 million people, you can be assured that 90% of them in the first 10 seconds of having ESPN on hear," New details on alleged Patriots cheating." and it immediately becomes branded on their brains.

Thats the freaking problem. Everyone is too busy and too lazy to take the time to dig in and use their brains to think.

What Kraft and the Patriots should do about this.

Nothing. Win football games, make money.

This is all in reply by ESPN to Belichick's comments. That's all it really is. Thousands of anti-Patriots sources all over the place.

There’s a Texas tale of hard-ball politics that dates to one of Lyndon Johnson’s first campaigns. Lyndon was the underdog against a well-liked and respectable incumbent who was the odds-on favorite to win (there were no polls in those days). At a strategy session Johnson instructed his staff to spread the rumor that the opponent had a proclivity for sex with animals, pigs in particular. “My God, we can’t say that,” protested a staffer, “it couldn’t possibly be true!” “I know,” said Lyndon, “but let’s make him deny it.

Johnson knew about spreading unsubstantiated rumors.

By replying, all you do is give the accusers authority. Play football, make money. That will neutralize bs and gossip.

A statement at the appropriate time is OK, but the way to really fan the flames is to respond to every slight as if it's important.

It was actually Joseph Keller's term, from Catch-22. Cobain was just quoting'm.
Thanks for taking my cultural references up a notch!

Funny, I looked this up and on a page of Heller/Catch-22 quotes I found this:

“Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.”

It's like he foresaw the state of the NFL circa 2015: A bunch of mediocre men trying to thrust mediocrity upon the Patriots.

Whoever rated this thread as "funny" are real assholes. Yeah, Im sure we'll all be yucking it up when this new "bombshell" article defaming the Patriots comes out around playoff time, distracting the team and ripping apart old wounds. It'll be real funny to have all our enjoyment and excitement sapped while we have to go on the defensive again.

4 Things the Pats need to do about this.
2. The Pats PR department should get out in front of this story by outing Van Atta's history of unethically using un "anonymous sources" and unsubstantiated facts. I would also document all the inuendo and misinformation from the OTL story. I'd also frame the narrative to promote the idea that this is all about sour grapes. Teams that can't beat the Pats and don't want to admit their OWN failings. ie. Tomlin and Rothlessberger, 2 easy examples of stupidity combined with ineptitude, and the inability to be accountable.

3. Again, get in front of this with a press conference that basically says, we are tired of all this crap from BSPN, and the Pats welcome any and all new information that will just substantiate the truth of "spygtate", which is the Pats did NOTHING that was against the rules of the NFL. They gained no competitive advantage, since every team had someone trying to steal the opposing team's signals. And that the ONLY thing the Pats did was film those signals from a place, a league memo (not a rule) told them not to. The truth is that the Pats were ONLY guilty of not following a league directed procedure (again, NOT a rule) They did not cheat or gain an unfair advantage, unlike the Broncos, jets, Steeler's and Niners have done over many occasions., \

4. Make it known that the Pats will welcome every complaint against them that is backed by Facts and people who will stand up and defend them. If any turn out to be true, the Pats will immediately apologize and take accountability for their actions, UNLIKE so many teams and players who are falsely accusing the Pats now, many just to get their names back in the news.

BOTTOM LINE : It's time that the Front office take on the burden of this attack. It's time they took the offensive and not just either react to this crap, or try to ignore it. Let the team concentrate on just playing the games, but unleash the PR department and take it to Goodell and BSPN. The fact is that NO bully is ever going to stop terrorizing you until you make them stop with some direct action.

Ken, answer me truthfully. You still must believe in the Tooth Fairy, don't you?

The time for Kraft to speak up was in 2007. You might not want to hold your breath on that one.

Who else misses the many comedic posts here about how the influential, respected Bob Kraft was "working behind the scenes" to set things right?

The only people working were Brady's bunch and the NFLPA team.

Occasional, sporadic, off the wall outbursts from Kraft interspersed with pictures of him hugging his abusers.

The patriots have pissed off some players wrt pay and trades/cuts that the players didn't like.

Where are these players? Why aren't they champing at the bit to tell on the team that spurned them?

Vlad Belichick the Mad Croatian Warlord knows where their families live.
