I want to talk about this guy since no one else has seemed to really talk about him. I thought this guy did really well for his first start the other night. Who knows how this guy will do from here whether it was a fluke or not, but still encouraging.

Gil Brandt of NFL.com basically thought he was one of the best rookies of week 1.

What intrigues me is say Stork gets healthy and Andrews is playing well and proves himself. Can one of these guys move to guard and replace Wendell/Kline over at that spot with Jackson on the opposite side?

Could really have something here if Andrews performance continues. If anything at least could be insurance if Stork's injury issues persist.

His true test is going to come this Sunday. Buffalo's DT's are a lot better than Pittsburgh's. But I thought he held up well in his first action. Same with Jackson and Mason.

Yep. Seeing him vs Suh will be interesting.

Just hope Suh does not step on any of David's essential appendages.

Its a pretty remarkable story and I'm glad there is a thread dedicated to him. Imagine 3 rookies starting on the defending champion's Oline. Amazing!
Big test this week and there will likely be some bumps but hopefully none too big.

I'm jumping onboard if he steps up Sunday.

Having said that : I was very worried for the opener and he played every offensive snap and didn't fold. So, for an undrafted rookie to make the team, step up on a national stage, and hold up - good for him.

I thought he did great, by the way, but it's one week. Never as bad as feared, not as good based on one game, unless the rooks are all phenoms.

Brandt is a respectable voice. This isn't just some NFL.com hack writer. He also thinks Butler will be very good and that Chris Mathews wouldn't do anything after the superbowl.

Maybe we found the next Jeff Saturday. An undersized center (under 300 lbs.) who went undrafted.

I dont think it should be understated how difficult it is for a rookie NFL C to step in and play as respectable as he did. It's usually a kiss of death if it happens mid-game or mid-week for most teams not as prepared as a BB coached one. Ask any gambler on that one. So yes, frankly I was worried there would be some drop off, not to mention adding the 2 new Gs each side. So I'll take "average" play from these guys game #1 all day long. And they should only get better. Knock wood injury gremlin. So, now guess we know why BB was playing them as a unit heavy all 4 games this pre season. But dang, I hope Stork does comes back dynamite - I'd love to have that "problem" as it were.

Also luckily for these guys, here at NE they have 2 giant vet near elite Tackles and monster blocking TE Gronk and another big blocking TE if they want to activate that can really take some pressure off those outside Tackles with chips or doubles, and allow some double team help inside if they need it. Of course TB who knows the same thing, and just lived that nightmare last season realized the best way to help a young OL is just get rid of the ball quick. I can also imagine the entire team from BB to Daniels to the QB coach as well already went thru this up until KC last year. I hope this guy goes great as well as the RG/LG situation. Very interesting positional grouping to watch going forward. And maybe we also get a little lucky and these rooks are better than advertised.

Hey, try UNDRAFTED FREE AGENT rookie NFL C!

On Opening Night, National Television.

Good points as well. So add to the list, a great find by the scouting staff, and solid preparation by the OL coach and rest of staff. So to your point, yes it's not like he's some early 1st round can't miss type of player who could skate by on pure physical talent a bit.

I thought he was very good at the point of attack ... extremely good with this hands and engaging the block. I thought he was exposed when he had to run to support the play ... he seems a bit light right now in that area. However - for a rookie ... pretty damn good obviously well coached to this point and highly intelligent. I don't know if he can play guard and pull ... above my pay grade ... seems a bit weak for that but ??? Seems to have pass blocking down pretty good.

we'll see how good he is against dareus..
here's hoping this works out and stork switches to G.

I came across this guy's name before the draft when I got into an argument concerning the college production of Todd Gurley and Georgia running backs in general. Seemingly every Georgia RB of the last six years has put up nearly identical production which led me to think maybe they just had real good offensive lines.

The media consensus is that Todd Gurley walks on water and that the Georgia offensive line are just workman-like players who play above their talent level. But Andrews was largely credited as their leader and steadiest player. Could be a guy who was severely undervalued and its not surprisingly the Pats offered him a big UDFA contract ($35,000 bonus) given his intangibles.

It would be pretty great if the pats end up with a gluttony of good young interior linemen
