I'm surprised Roger's screw up of Pacman Jone's punishment isn't getting more play.

Pacman slammed a guys head into a helmet -- if he had hit it harder it could've seriously injured or killed him.
If that happened in hockey -- where fighting is common -- the player would've been ejected and suspended, and maybe even have criminal charges brought (a blatant act that could seriously hurt a defenseless person when it's not part of the game isn't legally acceptable just because it happened on the field).

Pacman even says there's no guarantee he wont do it again.

And for that, he gets a big 35k fine.
Meanwhile players get suspended for 4 games up to a season for marijuana.

That's Roger -- it's okay to stomp on a QBs hand, it's okay to take out someones knee, its okay to bash a head into a helmet, but it's not okay to smoke weed, or to play with balls that are naturally deflated.

I wonder if anyone was generally aware that he was going to do it? They would get in more trouble.

Here's what I don't understand - that ex-Jets LB who punched Geno Smith got "at least" a 4 game suspension. But Jones slamming Cooper's full head is no suspension??? Is this not exactly the same thing??? One NFL player injuring the head of another NFL player.

He messed up with Suh too. I mean come on the guy has a long history of that stuff. I get letting that go if that was his first ever thing but Suh lost the benefit of the doubt a while ago.

"although he hasn't done anything recently..so that's why he got off easy"...that idiot on ESPN actually says this...but last week he's blabbing about "Spygate!!! That's why Deflategate!!!"..I mean, this is a near BRAINDEAD mouthbreather blabberating like he's some "knower of things!"...it just gets worse and worse with this scumbag station of morons

Roger Goodell doesn't know what he is doing. Mind boggling how this man is commissioner of a multi billion dollar business. The NFL has great popularity and profits in spite of Goodell---not because of him.

Put Goodell in charge of a kids lemonade stand and I am sure he will find a way to mess it up.

To be fair we all know how much worse a little air pressure in a ball is than someone's head getting slammed around on purpose. At least we have to assume this because of how Roger hands out his punishments. Lmao I don't even know how Roger can convince Roger what he's doing is fair. Lol

I thought he was going to be suspended for 4 games at least.

Also, in MMA fighting and (to my knowledge) boxing, you're not allowed to hit opponents in the back of the head. The back of the skull is the most vulnerable. Slamming someone's head into a helmet like that could seriously mess someone up.

Hopefully this becomes a scandal for the Commish. Another one right away would be beautiful

Come on now guys, I'm sure this was just a one-time thing and isn't in Adam Jones character at all. And the time he paid a guy to shoot and paralyze a bouncer too. That was also a one-time thing. And that time he assaulted a stripper in a strip club was also a one-time thing. And that time he threatened to kill a security guard? One time thing.

What I'm getting at here, guys, is that he's actually a really great person.

Another aspect of the Geno Smith incident is that it took place in the locker room. There are no officials there, no game is being played, no one's listening for a whistle. I'm not excusing what the LB did, but if you heard "2 players got into an argument in the locker room, punches were thrown, one guy got his jaw broken," the reaction of most people would be "That's not good, but I can see something like that happening."

You change the story to "A receiver is blocking a CB on a running play and they end up falling to the ground. The CB ends up on top of the WR, pulls off the guy's helmet and then smacks the receiver's head against the helmet." The reaction for most people would be "Did that really just happen? Is this an option in the 'Super cheap shot' mod in the latest Madden?"

Later on this season, some defensive player, maybe Brandon Meriweather, is going to deliver a helmet to helmet hit to an offensive player. It could even be one of those 'It looks like it's going to be clean, but then the receiver ducks at the last second and it ends up helmet to helmet' hits. The defensive player will get a 6 figure fine and there will be talk of a one game suspension. Then people will look back on this and wonder how Jones only got a $35k fine.

And he is going to appeal the big 35k fine, such idiocy.

And that time a wiretapped drug dealer talked at length about how he likes to bet on football, that was just a one-time thing. Yes, very "credible".

Why wouldn't he ? I mean of course, from a reasonable point of view he should be happy that he got away without a 8-16 games suspension and an assault charge. But looking at the clown show that is the league office I doubt that there will be anyone in the future who will not appeal whatever discipline they impose.
